But Trump isn't running for election now, and Pence wouldn't either if he was appointed in such a scenario. Governance is the only thing that matters in that moment.

Pence would do well do try and fix this sort of behaviour or he will be weak in negotiations, if he gets to be POTUS, last thing America could wish for is weak president in negotiayions, not saying he´s necessarily bad, but he´s way too diferent from Trump and their relation clearly showcases Pence would need to change if he was POTUS instead of trump, like instead of being the Right hand of the lion in the room, Pence would need to actually become the new lion, if he gets the POTUS position and the adaptation process wouldnt be easy, so a scenario where something unexpected happens with Trump and Pence goes to POTUS without being confortable with it, can cause bad results.
I personally think he´d be a much better POTUS material by the time the trump presidency is near it´s end, because by them he might start getting a better grasp on how to handle the POTUS position and not necessarily from experiencing Trump´s presidency as whole (because there are gonna be things, I´m sure he wont like about Trump´s presidency), but by capitalizing the Trump attention to build himself up, for it and lets not get started on the "economic presence" thing because thats a whole other thing to address as well, which I dont believe Pence could do as well as Trump, no matter how much experience he gets unfortunately.
Well, pence's only real merit is how presidential "he looks" so far. Remember the VP debate? Pence lied through his teeth about trump and yet the only comments about it was how presidential he looked.... I am not so sure of what more time as VP would do for pence to be honest. As far as republicans pence is probably their idea of a perfect president. As for repealing obamacare, no republican really knows what to do about it. Just look at their current situation with the party... Trump during his campaign basically offered universal health care. And in the past few weeks he went ahead threw his people under the bus and is more or less behind ryan's plan. And the moment the plan got out the party basically shattered. You have the faction that thinks trumpcare is too socialist, then the faction that thinks it is merely a watered down obamacare, then the faction that does not want to see 20 million people lose health care. And of course, ryan appearing on tv telling people with a straight face that he does not actually care about all those people loosing health care coverage and that that is even a good thing. No republican knows what to do about health care. Not 3 weeks ago trump said "nobody knew healthcare was so complicated". If trump, the absolute leader of the party does not know health care is complicated, let alone anything about it, what hope is there for the suckers that he leads? Fact is, republicans in general do not know anything nor care about anything nor even care about knowing about health care. Republicans are the only major party of any developed nation to whom "universal health care" is an intrinsically bad thing. Which actually explains why the party knows and cares so little about health care as a whole. Universal health care for them is intrinsically evil.
My problem with the VP debate was that Pence has that "smooth talking", but I wish we could´ve gotten more from him, it´s interesting to adress the Pence/Trump dinamic, though, I after that debate I thought that as far dinamic political duos were going, Kaine/Hillary was a mess and that Trump/Pence was "diverse" to say the least and how boy did the internet make those Trump/Pence memes a actual thing...
Well the whole skyrocketting premiums with Obamacare were a real bomb and while it´s true that the republicans have proper idea on what to replace it which, they do have some valid points as well, I´d say the initial Obamacare remodelling Trump proposed is bad and that repealing it completely is bad as well, first I´d say try and get rid of the premiums if nobody wants them, dont enforce any uneeded things into the population as well, make it more optional the rest yeah, keep it as long as it´s something that can be managed and not spiral out of control like the premiums and for gods sake pls prevent any radical like negotiations to get any results from both alt right and alt left, it´s a bound disaster waiting to happen.

They are elected by states afaik. Each state has like 2 senators. They run for election in every 4 years. So there are 100 senators. Democrats have to defend tough states at places like Indiana and some other red states.
This is something that plainly weirded me out. Shouldn't this be terrible, if not terrifying, news for trump? For one thing, it in no form or context would validate trump's comments on obama spying on him. Since Nunes is talking about intelligence agencies doing work legally. So far. In any case, this does not constitute evidence of illegal stuff going on. Then you have the comments that this does not relate to the FBI's investigation on trump colluding with Russia. So... what the hell does it relate to?
Now, they speak of incidentally getting people on the trump investigation. That would mean that in a presumably legal intelligence investigation there were a bunch of people from the trump administration who had contacts with the people involved in said investigation.

No, Senatorial terms are 6 years. Elections are staggered among three groups so that a third of the 100 seats are up for election every 2 years. This is compared to members of Congress who must run every 2 years.

I think you have this backwards. Yes, their policies do hurt non rich people. But the core issue here is that they genuinely believe that what they are doing is best for everyone. From their ideological point of view what they are doing will result in what is actually right. Just look at paul ryan. The guy has been confronted about his new act actually causing people to lose insurance and budget deficits and it benefiting rich people. And his response is basically that that is how this is supposed to work. Which is actually far more dangerous than the cartoonish evil you imply. They genuinely believe it is not the governments job to provide health care to people.
