Within what either side of the debate cares for, whether the new justice is liberal or conservative, the situation is not terrible. For one thing, conservatives are fighting a loosing battle. The court already has a liberal leaning so to speak. With scalia gone there are two possibilities. Either they pic a conservative or a liberal. If they pick a conservative then the court would stay more or less as it is. Otherwise it becomes more liberal. So... the best case scenario for conservatives at the moment is for things to remain as they are, in which case they are still fighting a loosing battle. In context it is very unlikely the country is going to regress regardless of who the pick is. It might not advance as fast regarding some issues which is not ideal but overall they will be still be able to advance.
The court isn't really liberal leaning. Before Scalia died it was a 4-4 spread for the most part. The outlier is Justice Kennedy, who has a libertarian view on things and tends to be the swing vote on 5-4 rulings and has made both what would be considered liberal and conservative decisions.

Ok, fair enough. However hasn't the court ruled in what could be considered a liberal way over the past several years? Maybe my perception is wrong but I had the impression that at least most (not necessarily all of course) of the landmark cases the supreme court has had over the years had a liberal connotation to them.

When it comes to marriage equality and things like reproductive rights, perhaps. But like I said, Kennedy is clearly a libertarian, so championing privacy above anything else isn't necessarily a liberal viewpoint. For politicians it might be different, but a Justice is only supposed to interpret the constitution in regards to court cases, not to make a value judgment, impose morality on issues, or tow a party line.

Heres an example job with a loan repayment program
https://www.lrp.nih.gov/

There's tons of jobs available for people in fields like science technology and mathematics and engineering. Are you talking to people studying stone bench making, womens studies, ancient roman art or other irrelevant fields?
Doesn't answer anything, and do you use that program or do you know anyone who has? I know there are such programs out there, but that doesn't mean it makes life much easier.

No, I'm talking to people who have degrees in finance, business administration, mathematics, engineering, science technology, and other "relevant" fields. Are you really this detached from reality? This bad at thinking from an objective point of view instead of what you want to see?

I hope so, because conservatives are truly hurting the country's development.

I don't see how there are engineers without jobs though Im at a university where these engineering firms constantly hold on campus job fairs weekly. The business program does as well. Science positions are always available at every biomedical and science consulting, technical support, and both research and development. Again unless they are doing something irrelevant in science (population ecology of earthworms in an urban environment) then they ought to have jobs.

Looks like Sanders has to go back to the drawing board and regroup as if he can't win a state with minorities he might as well give up the election and support Hilary Rodham Obama.

Just look at the votes from Blacks, what is Sanders doing

the fact that Bernie is still doing strongly speaks volumes. He's still competing against a dynasty who had more press attention until Bernie started threatening Clinton. If Bernie had the same amount of attention from the start I'm sure he'd be doing better than Clinton. He appeals to people who care about social issues and are voting seriously. Wouldn't be shocked if it came down to him and Trump just because they're what people want - Trump being frank, sexist, homophobic, and xenophobic where Bernie cares about social issues and making lives better for people.

Jebby dropping out is great news. We don't need a third Bush fucking up the country even more. the Bush dynasty is tainted even more thanks to Junior. Still dumb of him to tweet a gun with "America." as a caption.

Still don't understand why some minorities support Trump, as if he wouldn't deport them to the wrong country even if they were born in the US.

Hmmm....totally off topic here, but can you explain how these presidental elections work? I know stupid question.
Like for example, how does the division of seats work better for smaller, less populated states as shown in this video:
Also what does the electoral election really do?
And if what this video explains is true...how is any of what is going on even relevant, since someone else will vote in the end

I am terribly sorry for using such videos, but these are the simplest videos I could find on the electoral college and even they leave me confused.

I think Rubio should get 1 delegate or so based on him winning in one South Carolina congressional district (the coast). Otherwise glad he came out above BusTED. Lets hope the SEC primaries do Rubio well (1010 delegates are on the line)

At this point in the stage, for the primaries, delegates are usually given out on the proportion of the vote received (spare South carolina which the winner gets the majority off the 50 + and a few from the congressional 7 congressional disctricts), and you typically get the nomination if you cross the threshhold needed.

The electors in the electoral college vote for the ones that won their states districts by popular vote , there are some states with laws against them not voting for who won.

I think the division of seats for electors is fair considering you would need more elected officials in a state with more population than one without. In a state with a population with 1 mln people should they really have as many elected officials as a state with 20times that population [California has ~40mln people, Wyoming has ~600K people]

hmm, wonder how Hillary won. Apparently the problem with Nevada caucus is that a lot of people couldn't vote because they were too busy working in order to make ends meet. Dunno how true it is. I wouldn't be shocked though, if Hillary or a republican candidate did something shady. From what I've read, republicans are trying to make it harder for people to vote because the fewer voters there are, the more likely they are to win. I think I got this from Think Progress? Not sure how true this is, but w/e.

Ever since Cruz and net neutrality and republican candidates and politicians talking about Planned Parenthood, I have absolutely no trust for the republican party. The fact that Trump is actually legit also makes me lose hope in the people of our country because they're willing to vote for a bad person to become a president. Here's hoping more millennials vote to stop Trump from becoming a president; I can see most of them voting for Bernie because of how he is social-wise, although economically I'm not sure.

I dont think that makes sense, the voter turnout in Nevada was just lower than it was in 2008 by 1/3rd, turnout can only be affected by excitement in the candidates especially considering the high turnout in other states. Perhaps Nevada voters just arent that compelled by Sanders?

Bernie's been fighting at a disadvantage for most of the election. hopefully he continues to keep fighting and keeps getting more and more support. We need a good person in the office, and Bernie's the only one who fits the bill, unfortunately. I can see Rubio losing and becoming an afterthought, especially given despite Cruz's bullshit he's still popular enough.

Surprised people support Mr Sanders when he supports big companies like gun manufacturers. Seems even democrats believe in the gun industry

Clinton sucks, boo to her. I find Bernie and Trump to be most trustworthy, and Trump only because he doesn't bullshit even if he is a racist, sexist asshole.

I am not sure of what to think of Bush leaving the race. With that the only shred of rationality the republican race has left is from a robot who repeats the positions section at the republican's Wikipedia page at anyone unfortunate enough to cross him. I thought jeb would try to hold out a little longer and to see what happens...

To be honest I wouldn't even trust trump on that. Trump is a demagogue, he would say anything that he thinks will get him media attention and support from the people he somehow appeals too.

I think you're forgetting about Kasich who had similar results to Bush. The difference is he isn't funneling the same amount of money into his campaign.

I honestly have no clue of who that is. Perhaps because of the not funneling money part... Well, to be fair I do remember some republicans from the first debate who seemed to be well within the realm of reasonable (as in pointing out climate change is a thing and the iran deal being worth a shot although it's depressing that the bar for reasonable is set so low) however none of them ever got or has any traction.

You would vote for a candidate based on climate change? Why? I do not think we ought to impose even more regulation of companies. Its contrary to growth
