It is not. The party would be separate from the Democratic party, and I'm sure many left politicians joined the Dems because they had no other choice. Dems like Biden and Pelosi are at odds with leftists like Bernie and AOC, and many, if not most, leftists dislike the Democratic party or centrists like Biden and Clinton.
PS, as I type this out. I seemed to sidetrack to something out completely. Half of this post has nothing to do what I quoted from you. They are just my thoughts. Apologies.
Kinda but not really. There are caucus within the party. Republican Liberty Caucus for example is the libertarian wing of the party. Members don't necessary have to be libertarian but rather like that branding. Same with the progressive caucus in the democrat party. The so called big tent idea. Where the major party adopting platform of smaller parties to made them irrelevant. Well you can said for example that it is bad because they only parade around the green new deal but don't push for it. But vice versa, if the progressive is a party on its own, its voice is so tiny that no one will even heard about it. The fact is the democratic party did spread that voice out, though damming its out at the same time. Progressives can use that to and have shift the overton window within the democrat party. Unless you like something like the Green party, who just run for show and have no political power. Much less lolcow communist party. But I am sure within the Democrat party, there are representatives in the House that could have easily been the Green party candidate.
But progressives is really live and die with the identity politics as much the right wing with their new idol Trumpian politics. People like Shaun King is a loudmouth, and all that shit is coming to bite him in the a** with all his fake fundraising. Or Warren and her little native American stunt, and then later the sexist stunt against Bernie. And even AOC and Bernie ain't far left enough with the whole Force the vote thing. Very funny how tiny the progressives are, and yet it is already so fracture as it is. Calling each others as "fakes." Politicians are hired to play politics. Of those folks, I guess Sanders is the most effective one. But if the progressive want to make real changes, they need a McConnel, and not necessary an Omar or an AOC. If they want to dislike Biden, that is fine. But Biden, although the head of the democrat party at the moment. He is not the president of the democrats, or the president of the left. He is the president of the USA, and of ALL Americans. If Americans are that ready to be further left, then Biden would not have been the president. But the truth is that the Americans are actually kinda conservative in nature. For years now I have listen to and actually believe the sh** that the young turks and the Justice dems spouting out that the Americans people are actually progressives. But that doesn't really pant out. A lot of people are not informed enough to be either left or right. They either left or right due to clique, or due to trend. Some are so malleable that a video or an event could flip their dogma upside down. Those Dave Rubin type. Some are informed by their identity. And most don't even f ing know what they are talking about. Let's take Obama vs Bush. They went to Harlem to interview people and they gave Obama all of Bush's policies. And they got Obama supporters to agree with all of the Bush's policies. Most voters are myopic to their own interests, or values that they think they have.
I also noticed a very worrying trend of woke (on the left) or "I am an independent thinker" on the right. Which kinda both wokeness to me tbh, where they are the only one who is awake to the truth. And everyone else are sheeps of the herd. But at the end of the day, everything they spout is not something they came up with. Nothing original. Someone else did the thinking and spoonfed it to them without them thinking critically about it. That including me. Money in politics sound so important until it isn't. Trump the guy with less money win. Biden who didn't raise as much money as many of his democrats counterparts ended up the winner. Sometimes we just accepted something as truth. Such as the left is good, centrism is bad. But to me, all those are but neutral terms. Everything could be good, and could be bad. Sometimes, the change cannot be from the government. Cultural changes are just as important. I think that is why the right is playing this cultural war, and focus on these war on Christmas for so long. That the white Americans think their way of life are crumbling all around them in the wave of migrants, and tranny liberals, and inner city criminals. 2016 was when the majority played their white identity politics. And they know real well the demographic is shifting. The whole "white genocide" thing is quite the conspiracy. But the reality is the demographic is shifting, and with it will be shift in political power and culture. Some on the left kinda talk from both side of their mouth laughing at that conspiracy while glad that white Americans will be the minority. My problem is that their FEAR is real. And I didn't know what will happened from those fear until the last few years. Cramping down on voting right, restricting immigration, deporting even former war refugees to adoptees.
The USA is a miraculous country. With such deep scar as slave owner descendants sitting along side slave descendants. How long can it last. Division of culture, ethnics, religion created civil war and sedition around the globes. Place with high diversity like Singapore had to be rule with Iron Fist. I know nationalism is a bad word, and in the usa, it is associate with white nationalism. But I came from outside of the USA. I kinda want to have a share identity in which this diverse population have something in common to hold it together. At first, may be it is just American. But seemed to me, no one really agree upon what is an American, and what are American values. When a political figure, or some rando said the Americans people know I am right, or the American people are with me. They basically said those that don't agree are less American. I do hope we somehow have some form of nationalism or patriotism that can hold the country together. Diversity to me is neutral. It has its strengths and it has severe weakness as well.
