I don't disagree however, instead of paying them more for these jobs, they should just work 2 or 3 jobs. Its just punishment for trying to take an easy way or shortcut in life by working less hard than others.
So the only way for someone's quality of life to go up is for them to only ever work and sleep? Granted, many people do this out of necessity....but wtf is the logic that this is an easy way out and that punishment is just? How is that justice? How the fuck is that a shortcut?

Work the jobs to get through college or training so that they can get a better job? The only real purpose of those jobs is to just have something to do while working towards something better
According to who? There are plenty of people without the ability to attend college or training.

No, the only real purpose of these jobs is for people to work them, because they must be worked. Not all Americans can sit in offices using their "brain power" to make a living.

Shark, I've given you the benefit of the doubt many many times in the past, but this just seems like intentionally trolling. I know many Republicans and none of them possess this level of elitism. Do you honestly go to retail stores, see people older than you and assume the first thing about them is that they're lazy? Paupers are all lazy then? It's simply a matter of them not working hard enough I guess?

No, I dont. I respect these workers and what they do and I also dont judge them. However they make mistakes and the second that happens I have to raise my eyebrows and wonder how such an easy job could generate people who make mistakes.

I just dont see what other reason why someone would work these jobs in the same position, a cashier for 15 years at a fast food joint or grocery store, what other reason would exist why they are there?

Because they can't afford to go to college? Maybe they don't have the time or the intellect? They have stability where they are and have responsibilities that doesn't allow them to take risks? It's any number of things.

I think Ted Cruz and Sanders has given up in my state of Virginia. Election stuff is tomorrow and the only ones to have had ads here for several days are Rubio (Love his ad), Hillary Cliton (Morgan Freeman voice), and Trump (most diverse cast for an ad).

I must admit that I have a morbid fascination with people labelled as "Trump Supporter" who come on CNN and other news networks and sit there and earnestly try to defend his latest nonsense day after day.

The only thing I see people praise him for is that he speaks his mind and to voters I guess thats what they want in a candidate. No plans but just someone who speaks their mind. Its terrible.

Im so nervous for today, please voters please choose Rubio.

Is that justified?

My thoughts about US-Elections: Doesn't matter much, this is no real democracy (ours isn't real either), you can just choose a figurehead backed by the super powerful who stay in the shadows.

If I could choose between the candidates, I would choose Sanders.
But even if it is going to be Trump, that is still better than Hilary Clinton, who is a war criminal. But I also believe that there is never going to be any president who is not going to become one. Really, what America needs is a president who is not going to destroy this world that we live in.

There's not any "theft" going on if the workers are legal. The problem some people have with it is that if they're not legal, they're not legally allowed to be employed. But this sort of ignores the human issue of why people seek refuge here in the first place. They're not coming here to beg on the streets. They pay taxes as well.

But I also think the issue being taken with such a thing is that businesses would rather underpay illegals than pay a fair wage to Americans. I mean, that sort of gripe is perfectly legit in theory, at least.
It is, but again I don't see why immigrants and illegal immigrants are to blamed when it's the businesses' fault.

Like my candidate, Rubio, says, if Trump was going to build a wall he would probably hire illegal immigrants, so I don't support Trump (who was already accused of hiring illegal workers from poland). He can't be trusted.

Companies aren't hiring immigrants to put cans of food on store shelves or other low brain powered jobs like that. Theyre being hired to man Customer Service call centers. I can't tell the last time I had an actual American manning the phones. And mom and pop joints can be blamed too for favoring immigrants, I had previously mentioned in this thread how if you go to a Chinese restaurant the only people working there are people who can barely understand English and what not. Where are the traditional native born Americans working in these places? Not just restaurants but also tailors and seamstresses and other specialized industries. American jobs are under assault from immigrants and its time that we put a stop to these thieves taking jobs from the numerous Americans that deserve them. Its unfair.

Why should someone who works to fold clothes not live in poverty? It doesnt make sense to somehow double their pay for such a meaningless task as this. Actually folding clothes might as well be regarded as busy work. The major problem I have is that by increasing the pay with these jobs the current high powered jobs will now have pay that is closer to what these people make and that is unfair. There should be a considerable gap in the measure of pay for jobs on the brain power scale. More brain power = more hard work = more pay. If folding clothes is not paying enough for the person in such a job then they have the freedom to get a second or third job. Many people do it currently and I don't see people complain or say something is wrong about it. Many are even able to still afford the necessities in life. You and democrats propose an unfair system that doesnt reward hardworkers.
Blaming immigrants is seriously one of the most idiotic things ever because again, they don't hold a gun to a hiring manager's head and say "hire me!" Blame the businesses who hire immigrants. And stop using "low brain powered" or "high brain powered," it just shows how ignorant and spoiled you are, especially when you're claiming that based on what you see. This is why I know conservatives like you are cancer and detrimental to the improvement of US, all you guys will say is "fuck increasing minimum wage, people just flip burgers!" or "that job is low brain powered, so anyone who works in that job isn't allowed to make ends meet, but we'll let the criminals who work in Wall Street get away with anything!" Businesses deserve blame, not immigrants. Immigrants look for work, but businesses hire them, and to say otherwise is to be blind and dumb.

Can you prove that most traditional native born Americans are or want to work in these places? Or that they're not native born Americans? I've seen plenty of them work in ethnic restaurants. I love how you call certain jobs and employees lazy, but then you say hardworking Americans when it comes to immigrants. You flip flop around too much to suit your views, which is a clear sign.

No, more brain power doesn't mean more hard work. That's one of the most retarded logic I've seen. I'm sure janitors work just as hard, if not harder, as a CEO or a supervisor. If you have a problem with people who fold clothes or serve you food, then stop shopping at stores or going to restaurants. Stop supporting these people,I'm sure they'll be happy not having to deal with a rude person who looks down on services he relies on.

You don't see people complain likely because you ignore them or are selective. I see plenty of people complaining about having to work more than one job just to make ends meet, especially when they have loans to pay off. You'd probably realize this if you actually went outside and talked to people who aren't republicans instead of reading biased republican crap.

No, democrats propose a system that rewards hard workers. Republicans are the ones proposing an unfair system that rewards people who are wealthy and who are seen as having a good/important job, regardless of their crimes. But you have shown you support criminal and illegal activities from the wealthy and people who have good jobs like Wall Street executives.

No, I dont. I respect these workers and what they do and I also dont judge them. However they make mistakes and the second that happens I have to raise my eyebrows and wonder how such an easy job could generate people who make mistakes.

Stop lying, you disrespect these workers and judge them a lot, if your posts in this thread are anything to go by. You probably go up to them and treat them rudely or tip them so little. Everyone makes mistakes, and anyone who claims they haven't is either lying or arrogant. Instead of going after people in jobs you don't respect, go after big people in jobs you do respect and claim are high powered. These people make mistakes and do bad stuff that affect many lives, but you seem to say it's okay for them, and they're allowed to do it.

... because they are unable to get a job elsewhere? Because they're stuck in that position due to cost of living? Because they enjoy it? There are many reasons why, and I highly doubt a spoiled, ignorant conservative will understand.

I follow normal tipping conventions so I usually tip the amount that the tax on what I bought was, which is usually like $2-$4. I like to think that Im very forgiving and still tip a dollar or so even when they are an incompetent server.

Not every person who has financial stability and expendable income is a criminal. The democrats plan seems to favor the marginalized and people down in the trenches on the front lines of companies meanwhile the people are responsible for making these jobs really work, the people with the degrees and the smarts to implement true change and generate true meaningful long lasting results for companies receive HIGHER taxes and less benefits. Key republicans benefit people who have made it in life and help to keep companies running and working.

all you guys will say is "fuck increasing minimum wage, people just flip burgers!"
And why should something like that be worth $15. People can get into other industries and make better wage than by flipping burgers for a multinational corporation. Plumbers, welders, mechanics, automobile workers, etc, numerous jobs are available to people to do that dont require college degrees that they could get into that are more fulfilling and enjoyable than flipping a burger. If one doesnt want a minimum wage job then get a different job doing something else. Its not hard.

There are 3 parties to blame really. The first are the companies for hiring them. They share the most blame obviously, because they hire these people and pay them under the table out of greed, because they're most likely uinderpayed. The Second would be the government for them allowing to enter the country and stay here long enough for such a thing to happen, however, this is obviously a more nuanced one. The third would be the immigrants themselves, obviously in most cases they aren't being forced to come here, but do so out of opportunity. I can't say I wouldn't do the same thing if my family's well-being was on the line. So I don't know why they're brought up so often when it comes time to figure out "who to blame".

This was such a good segment. I can't believe any honest and decent person could continue to call themselves a "Trump Supporter" after watching this.

Are any of those things that can be solved though? The more obvious one would be to crack down on companies hiring such people but this has obviously failed. I can't say I know anything about the subject itself but I do find it weird that it would be so easy to hire this many people under the table. Or otherwise so hard to regulate... On the other hand, regulating this would perhaps present the country with a rather severe humanitarian crisis as success would more or less imply millions literally starving and crime as their access to money would be cut... What's the deal here? I doubt there is an issue of the US allowing the immigrants in. What's the government going to do, build a wall? They'd have better luck helping mexico turn into a first world country.... So that they have to worry about the south of their border...

I think that is the best one I have seen yet. And it has quite a few views as well, it has been out for a day or two and it has been viewed more times than any of his previous videos (as far as I can tell). I couldn't stop laughing the last few minutes of the video... I honestly wanted a drumph cap but no one here would get the joke....

like in South Carolina, Hillary Clinton has prevailed with winning both Virginia and Georgia on tonight and a very sizable portion of minority voters.

Terrible night for my candidate and party, at this rate Ill just have to grin and bear it and vote for Hillary Clinton this november :( What dont people see in Rubio but see in Trump. I just dont understand. At least Hillary Clinton has Washington experience and some military experience and what not so the worst damage she could do is do the same thing as Obama.

Plenty of people explain why it's happened.....but I still don't understand it. I'm not sure I've seen a less substantive candidate (aside from maybe Carson) in my memory. I'm not sure whether to feel sorry for his supporters, because it feels like they're being duped lol...

Well, I was just expanding on the actual issue, not whether it's easily solvable obviously. If the government tries to punish companies for it, more business might start moving their workforces overseas. Not thatconstruction firms and farmers can necessarily do that....so idk

Well the notion of making a NA Union similar to what the EU did has been brought up numerous times but that idea has obviously lost a lot of steam in recent history...especially with the crises going on over in the EU precisely because of such a thing. Like, I doubt anyone would be opposes to having such a thing with Canada....but Mexico...not optimistic at all. :lmao

Well in an offtopic way, his show is amazing. I was never really much of a Daily Show watcher. I sort of limited my "political comedy" to George Carlin or Lewis Black, Bill Maher's shows. But ever since Oliver got his own show on HBO it's been amazing. One of the best things on TV. His segments on FIFA, Sports Facilities in the US, the list goes on and on.

I guess the good news is that Rubio still should get 16 delegates from my state (Virginia), in some counties he crushed Trump by 8000+ votes.

If I recall, you're supposed to tip at least 15% of the bill, or 20% as norm. So unless you spend enough to tip the minimum, you're likely undertipping.

I ask again, are you dyslexic? Once again you ignore key words, which in this case is criminal activities. And when I say that, I mean stuff like fraud and embezzlement. But same logic applies to people who don't have office jobs - not every person who has to struggle to make ends meet and does labor job/s is lazy. Yet you call them lazy and in a way idiots even though more people in higher positions have committed crimes where normal citizens are still paying fo rit.

Democrats (or at least Bernie) favor those who work hard, not those who are wealthy or wealthy criminals. I don't see what's wrong with helping out people who need the money, given the more money they have the more they can spend, which is good for the economy. The republicans want to benefit the wealthy and make them even wealthier at the expense of those who are worse off. I don't see why the wealthy need help to be wealthier. they're already successful enough, whether legally or illegally, why do they deserve more benefits? They already have plenty of benefits, they can afford whatever they want and commit crimes and get away with it. I'm pretty sure an accountant who steals money will have shorter term in jail than a poor person who sells weed.

Yes, it is hard to get a different job doing something else. You're pretty lucky to be spoiled in a wealthy enough family that you don't know what real life is like, I envy you. But in the real world, it is difficult to get better jobs or go into other industries, especially when one may not have time to pursue such training or occupation due to working more to make ends meet. Most people don't want minimum wage jobs, but they're stuck and have nowhere to go. Stop listening to republican BS where they call everyone doing minimum wage jobs lazy, it's all lies.

Again, you continue to prove your ignorance, and to an extent your party's ignorance as well as I am sure many share similar views. It's no wonder why it's difficult for this country to progress as much as it should.

I don't think you can blame immigrants because they're doing what they have to in order to survive and support their family. And when they apply to jobs, the companies can tell them no instead of hiring them. Plus, I don't think the government can keep track of everyone, especially illegal immigrants.

Man, as bad of a choice as Rubio is, I'd still probably vote for him over Trump. Between him and Hillary... I have no idea.

Yes Rubio came out 1st in Minnesota, hopefully he gets Michigan too. Clinton is close to halfway so I think its still bad news for Sanders, how long can he hold out? Kasich and Carson really need to drop out.

The more I look at the republican primaries the more I can't believe it to be honest. Well, I can sort of get an idea of why trump would be preferred over bush or rubio (it's specifically because he isn't either of them) but what I have trouble understanding is why trump was allowed to run in the first place. It seemed genuinely funny a few months back but it was clear that trump was not a real republican, as in he was not someone who really cared for their ideals and values. It kinda seems like anyone who pretends to be a republican can run... Which is oddly disturbing.
