I think nearly all of us who aren't republican or conservative have thought that, but who knows... there are actual people who think as he does, if not worse.
That's kind of myopic. Not everyone chooses their morals...you just sort of acquire them through living and learning. And obviously they're not always good either.I see atheists with morals and values as far better human beings than religious people with morals and values because unlike most religious people, the atheists have good morals and values out of choice, not because they want to go to Heaven or avoid Hell. Most religious people who have good morals and values probably have so only because they believe it'll get them into Heaven. Where atheists don't need an excuse to be good human beings, most religious people either do or might.
I'm using similar line of thinking as Sharkbait is. Different people choose morals and values while some learn what morals and values are best for them and etc. I just see more theists as having morals and values for selfish reasons, but I don't think it applies to all theists. I just find it extremely stupid to claim atheists' morals and values either don't exist or change or are bad when there's no proof to back that up. I mean, Hicks was an atheist when he executed the three Muslim teenagers, but KKK were/are Christians who go after anyone that doesn't agree with their views or are Christians. That's kind of myopic. Not everyone chooses their morals...you just sort of acquire them through living and learning. And obviously they're not always good either.

Not that I think much of religious people, but that doesn't even make sense. Even if it's just because of the afterlife, having good morals is still their choice as much as it is an atheist's choice. On the contrary, using that logic makes it seem like religious people are better human beings since they'll always uphold their morals because they technically have to because of their faith, as opposed to atheists who could go through a hard time in life and drop all their good morals because of it. You said it yourself that their morals are influenced by environment and experiences, which includes a bad environment and bad experiences. So by your logic religious people offer far more stability.Morals and values are more influenced by environment and experiences than beliefs
More or less would relate to the circumstances of your life. So whether you choose or learn more depends on your experience. Obviously it's all more complicated than just one or the other. It's all a combination of different mediums born of diverse life experience. Whatever you do more would just relate to what you're exposed to the most.I'm using similar line of thinking as Sharkbait is. Morals and values are more influenced by environment and experiences than beliefs, at least from what I assume.

My parents are both Christian. Both accept and support my sexuality, the only real gripe is my father who told me he didn't care who I brought home, so long as they weren't black. You're telling me that after finding out sharkbait is gay and christian you still believe all this? Either his parents practice their own separate version of christianity (which is possible to be fair) or he's been trolling us. I can see no reason why he still practices christianity since if it really was his religion, his parents would have disowned his ass faster than people filling up stores on a black friday.
Another possibility could be that IF he is christian then his parents have talked to him and told him to "repent" for being a homo but I still think he's trolling.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...t-up-protesters-now-that-its-happened-can-he/Trump protest have been increasingly getting out of hand over the past few weeks... and it makes sense, he has been encouraging the violence. Didn't he offer to pay for the legal fees of someone who was attacking a protester? Trump is literally bringing out the worst the US has to offer...
You could get into a debate forever about this, because it would travel in circles. The only thing that I feel is absolute, from the bible, is that there are no exceptions for love. You cannot make exceptions because they don't share the same religion, or the same sexuality. My point is that people are individual people, and there is no "true Christian", not just because you have a ton of different variations of the Christian belief, but because people aren't that simple. What they believe, is what they believe to be true.@Momoni I can agree with you on the pricks who speak loudest usually ruin it for the rest but answer me this, if you will. To what extent do you practice it? That is to say do you read the bible? What does it say about homosexuality and such? Now if you were say, "I'M not christian or I don't read the bible", wouldn't that completely unaffect what I said about shark's situation or is it just you picking at what you like about christianity and what you don't? What you wrote may have just been an example of how not all christians are completely prejudiced or whatnot, which I actually do agree on but are they really following the religion to the letter? Can that still be called a true "christian" if you don't?
I know plenty of homosexuals who are still religious, and even when their parents are religious it doesn't mean they'll disown their kid/s. It all depends though. I mean, not all Christian parents will say "you want to fuck your own gender? OUTTA MY HOUSE!!!"You're telling me that after finding out sharkbait is gay and christian you still believe all this? Either his parents practice their own separate version of christianity (which is possible to be fair) or he's been trolling us. Is it really completely their choice or are they being bribed to have good morals and values? Not that I think much of religious people, but that doesn't even make sense. And what the hell, why is still place suddenly a philosophy and religion discussion thread?
Meanwhile in actual political news, a recent Trump rally just had to get cancelled as protesters(black lives matter I presume) apparently made enough of a situation to force the rally to postpone. I think even several fights broke out? This is the first time something like this happened this election cycle, no?
edit: this is actually insane and incredible in so many ways

How is he encouraging such violence? Then why don't you see Trump supporters disrupting rallies of other politicians, especially on this scale? Are you actually defending those sick people in what happened?Trump protest have been increasingly getting out of hand over the past few weeks... and it makes sense, he has been encouraging the violence. Didn't he offer to pay for the legal fees of someone who was attacking a protester? Trump is literally bringing out the worst the US has to offer...
You want to make a philosophical discussion of "what is a choice"? And comparing faith to "bribery" makes no sense. Is it really completely their choice or are they being bribed to have good morals and values?
What? How would they "find out" it's a scam? They themselves decided to believe in something that can't be proven or disproved, yet you say they can find proof to disprove it? Are you suggesting there is actual proof that the afterlife doesn't exist? It doesn't really make religious people look like better human beings, it just makes them look like they're forced to be good and that at a drop of hat they can easily turn bad if they ever find out the whole God-Heaven thing is a scam. But, theists can drop their morals and values just as easily as atheists can, so I don't know why Sharkbait has to insist on claiming theists have good morals and values while atheists' change or can change. For all we know, many atheists continued to hold good morals and values despite going through difficult times while many theists turned into bad and selfish people after going through turbulent times.
This speaks volumes of you as a person, and they're really bad volumes. You obviously have no clue how the first amendment and freedom of speech works, which is sad if you're actually an american. There's also limits to protesting rights in America. You can protest, but disrupting a private event inside a private, rented area is going against the law. Please go inform yourself what free speech and protesting entail before spouting such nonsense.I'm glad protesters got Trump's rally canceled. Fuck Trump and fuck his piece of shit scum supporters. A FB friend said that Trump's freedom of speech was denied, which I don't understand given HIS SIDE chose to cancel the rally. He could have still gone up there if he wanted to. And what about the protesters that he kicked out? What about their freedom of speech? If Trump wasn't supporting attacking minorities and protesters at his rallies, then I'd feel tad bit bad.
What do you mean how? Trump is doing that in the explicit and literal meaning of the word. As in, protesters show up and trump literally tells them to be violent against them. How is he encouraging such violence? Then why don't you see Trump supporters disrupting rallies of other politicians, especially on this scale? Are you actually defending those sick people in what happened?
About the paying of legal fees, are you intentionally trying to mislead people or have you been misled yourself? How about you actually look up what you're saying to see the actual story, which is less about "attacking a protester" in the general sense you're implying, and more about Trump encouraging his supporters to stop someone before he horribly disrupts the event, like in your case "someone throwing a tomato".
It depends, sometimes he says "don't hurt them" or "be gentle". But yes he does not like protesters. So your point? How is that alone enough to encourage violence of this scale? People attacking policemen and destroying cars? What do you mean how? Trump is doing that in the explicit and literal meaning of the word. As in, protesters show up and trump literally tells them to be violent against them.
Misleading people? Trump shouldn't be saying idiotic stuff like that to people to begin with. Trump encouraging his supporters to "stop" people from disrupting the event is literally encouraging violence. Phrase it how you will, this is still trump's fault. And the whole paying legal fees thing is not even the only thing he has said in this regard... Hasn't he told supporters to smack people around as well? Of course, it would be people "disrupting" the event but that doesn't mean it is ok to suggest such an asinine thing. Hasn't he complained that protesters can be hurt anymore?

Indeed, which is why I expect this event to actually be helpful for Trump as he can play the victim card to either get more people on his side or to further reinforce the ones he already has. There's no universe in which a person could look at Trump and the environment he's fostered at his rallies and pretend to feel all that bad for him or the people who attend his rallies. Shockingly enough, thuggery begets more thuggery. His own freaking campaign manager is being sued for assaulting a reporter from a conservative website at some event. So these neanderthals can frame it however they want and of course this is going to be spun in his favor since that's the only thing this guy is successful at, spinning. I'm sure he'd even invite the same sort of things at every other rally he has. Cancel one, and then make the next one be about how awful he and his supporters are treated, just so there can be more demagoguery and even less talk about actual issues and common sense solutions. It's a brilliant coup for him yet again, I suppose. Truly truly teflon.
No, I'm not condoning violence. But I'm not going to be against the right to protest either. Those people waited in line and made their intentions known ahead of time. His security has been kicking people out of events preemptively...I wonder how they screen these people to determine whether they're supporters or not...?Indeed, which is why I expect this event to actually be helpful for Trump as he can play the victim card to either get more people on his side or to further reinforce the ones he already has.
Thuggery begets thuggery? Sounds like we're in the old ages with the old testament. And nobody's supposed to feel bad for Trump, but what people are supposed to do is condone the behavior of those Sanders and blm brutes who did this. But let me guess you won't because it's been done to Trump which makes it just?
It's clear what Trump thinks of them and he doesn't seem to care that it goes both ways. The guy has literally told people not to vote unless they vote for him. I don't think he respects the actual democratic process itself. But he's not necessarily alone in that, with Cruz's campaign basically telling people that Carson was dropping out of the race when he didn't. Cruz is just as much scum as he is, but he's right in saying that Trump basically encourages violence at his rallies...I mean, there's recorded evidence of it. So no, I'm not going to lose sleep over it. Was probably only a matter of time."You wearing a MAGA hat? Come on in then!"I wonder how they screen these people to determine whether they're supporters or not...?![]()
The right to protest? You have no right to protest inside a private area. They can protest outside but not inside, surely I as a European don't have to tell you the limitations of protesting and the law of private places in America do I? Want me to come to your house and start making a ruckus, exercising my "free speech" and my "right to protest"?No, I'm not condoning violence. But I'm not going to be against the right to protest either.
Yes, so why are they attacking policemen when they dislike Trump? These people seem to have more issues than just being triggered by Trump.
They waited in line like everyone else. I mean, I haven't seen much footage, nor was I there obviously. Trump even said himself that the rally could have still gone on but they cancelled it. So why was it cancelled then? It isn't like Trump hasn't very loudly had protesters removed from him rallies before. This entire thing probably playing into what he wanted in the end might not be much of an accident. The right to protest? You have no right to protest inside a private area. They can protest outside but not inside, surely I as a European don't have to tell you the limitations of protesting and the law of private places in America do I? Want me to come to your house and start making a ruckus, exercising my "free speech" and my "right to protest"?
Of course, as I'm sure most of them weren't inside anyway. And if you talk about the outside, can you honestly say that what they did was protesting? Then tell me what they were protesting against??? The rally was already cancelled, so what is their deal? Even when interviewed, the "protesters" didn't answer why. They vandalized and made problems because they wanted to. And that's not protesting.
More than 10,000 people signed up for one march. There's been huge apprehension regarding his rally being in Chicago for a while now. I haven't seen evidence of vandalism, but you can't act like such things are reason as to why people shouldn't have a right to assemble. Last time I checked, people were arrested.Trump saying "be gentle" or "don't hurt them" does not mean anything if he is the one telling people to attack protesters to begin with. The context here is basically "rough them up, not too much, but you have my support to rough them up". This is him literally encouraging violence, it does not get any more explicit than that. It more than accounts for violence of this scale and if anything it's only going to escalate. It depends, sometimes he says "don't hurt them" or "be gentle". But yes he does not like protesters. So your point? How is that alone enough to encourage violence of this scale? People attacking policemen and destroying cars?
Say, I'm interested. What would you do against protesters disrupting your rallies? How do you stop them in order to continue with your rally, without "encouraging" violence? Because you seem to suggest that there's a much friendlier way of throwing those troublemakers out. Or should we take Bernie as an example? Remember that time those BLM women came to his rally? He let them take over his entire rally, but hey at least he's not encouraging violence.
I've seen plenty of media coverage of what was done. Some friendly blm people were even shooting their guns upwards for...some reason. I've even accidentally been watching the stream and could see some of the initial footage. Overall it ain't a pretty sight. Not something a person expects to see in America. People can assemble and express themselves, shutting down others is where the line gets crossed.Of course, as I'm sure most of them weren't inside anyway.More than 10,000 people signed up for one march. "It more than accounts for violence of this scale and if anything it's only going to escalate." O-okay then, let's equate throwing out troublemakers to all that happened and to the escalation you expect. Surely one warrants the other..Trump saying "be gentle" or "don't hurt them" does not mean anything if he is the one telling people to attack protesters to begin with. The context here is basically "rough them up, not too much, but you have my support to rough them up". This is him literally encouraging violence, it does not get any more explicit than that. Are you implying bernie should have had done as trump and told his supporters to rough up protesters? Of course he shouldn't have done that, if he gets a protest going on the last thing he should do is encourage fights. So yes, the rally failed. But at least he didn't encourage violence. That is literally a good thing. If the event security could not handle protesters and there is a real risk of violence then it should be ended. As happened. And what happened during trump's rally (although that one got unfortunately violent anyways).
