Don't see any reporting on that since it was a public account that's now private

So... do we think 'ole Matty here perfectly understands the difference between the terms mentioned here and is just grifting for his christian ethnofascist fanbase?, or is he really that much of insufferable moron?

"Colored people" is a term used during the Jim Crow era when black people had separate bathrooms and water fountains, etc.

"People of color" is a term coined by people of color, and it wasn't forced on them like in the above manner. So, ostensibly it might look like an argument over semantics but it really isn't. And people like Matt Walsh and his ilk know it isn't, but they traffic in this shit anyway.

Ah, I see. At this point I should have expected this to turn into a mini history lesson...

In fact all of these terms rely on racism (=the ideology of human races), because America and the Anglo-American culture are racist af.

And I am really sick of these banana terms swapping over to our culture.

When I was young, the terms "colored people", "people of color", "black people", "white people", did not exist. You were dark skinned or light skinned, like you had dark or light hair.

What you call "white supremacy" is actually the cultural aspect of Anglo-American imperialism. It's that horrifying history of crimes against mankind that put "white" people atop the world order, and it's that history that your country does not want to talk about, hence why you invented this pseudo-scientific race lore.

And it's so ridiculous, you all keep reproducing this racist bullcrap.

It's one of the main reason why I cannot stand America at all; you are all racists if you want to admit it or not. All of even your "anti-racist" policies are so racist, they help establish racism in the world.

Did you have more or less people from different cultural backgrounds living where you are when you were young or not?

I mean, the "race lore" that white supremacists invented isn't some uniquely American thing either. If you're talking about "black people" or black culture, then that's something that was emergent due to their circumstances.

It's one of the main reason why I cannot stand America at all; you are all racists if you want to admit it or not. All of even your "anti-racist" policies are so racist, they help establish racism in the world.
America isn't special, racism exists everywhere. The issue with America and racism is it's nature - it can't hide behind homogeny and ignore these issues as being inconsequential. The white establishment attempted to do that for far too long.

What anti-racist policies are racist though?

lmao... act of congress declaring Israel NOT an apartheid state
--- Double Post Merged, ---

God forbid the Jewish diaspora is asked to reckon with the reality of the ruling class in Israel and be equipped with the proper nuance to distinguish criticism of said regime and actual antisemitism. None of the jewish people I know like Netanyahu, yet Congress thinks these kinds of empty measures mean anything or are worth anyone's time.

Well to be fair, the majority of the world is racist. Americas? Check. Europe? Check. East Asia? Check. Middle East? Check. It's an unfortunate truth that exists all over.

If you are from germany like your profile suggests, then there were quite some more distinctions between races going on.
America is just more honest with it and that is a good thing (even tho it does go overboard sometimes).

When I grew up in the 90s, it was not a problem for teachers to talk about negros, or muselmans (derogatory term for muslims) or things like that.
Race in America is not the same as Rasse in German, Race in america is more comparable to ethnicity.
Being honest and having a conversation and words about there being different ethnicities that are seen differently and have their own communities is A LOT better than the German stance of back then (and partially today) that those Negros should integrate, just like all these other foreigners should.

If, when you were young, "White people" did not exist, that was because black people and other foreigners were so invisible that nobody needed to specify.

Let's not forget that the Germany became a nation with immigration by having Workers from all over Europe migrate here and that our stance for DECADES was that these people should live in their own communities and leave the country once they are done working.

For all the faults of America, when it comes to actually having debates about race and looking into racial inequality, they are just doing better than us and giving migrants in germany experessions like "people of color" is something we should thank them for. Because our intellectual movements never found words for these kinds of inequalities on their own (and that is not a good thing. Racial inequalities exist, whether you name them or not, here and there).

‘Era of global boiling has arrived,’ says UN chief as July set to be hottest month on record | Climate science | The Guardian

Personally, I am really scared by now. I knew how bad it was before intellectually, but this year is pretty much the turning point, as it seems. Even the grimmest expectations were not grim enough to prepare for these kinds of numbers.

Guterres’s comments came after scientists confirmed on Thursday that the past three weeks have been the hottest since records began and July is on track to be the hottest month ever recorded.

Global temperatures this month have shattered records, according to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the EU’s Copernicus Earth observation programme, stoked by the burning of fossil fuels and spurring violent weather.
“Humanity is in the hot seat,” Guterres told a press conference on Thursday. “For vast parts of North America, Asia, Africa and Europe, it is a cruel summer. For the entire planet, it is a disaster. And for scientists, it is unequivocal – humans are to blame.

“All this is entirely consistent with predictions and repeated warnings. The only surprise is the speed of the change. Climate change is here, it is terrifying, and it is just the beginning. The era of global warming has ended; the era of global boiling has arrived.”
If you really look around weather phenoma around the world (and you do not need to look far, look at America and Europe), it is visible just how fucked up everything is. You gotta keep in mind that climate change is delayed. The effects we see now are the effects caused by the emissions we did until 2013 (a ten year delay). Had we stopped emitting anything 2013, we'd still see pretty much the same effects now. That means its all going to get much, much worse from here and even if we stop quickly, we will look at a declining world for decades to come.

I think humans will find a way to survive this.

The question is: who will be refused the right to survive? I think we know that the wealthy will automatically be allowed access to whatever way we come up with surviving the global warming, but what about those who aren't wealthy? Like the homeless?

Humanity most probably will survive it obviously. We if bad comes to worse, there are realistic scenario's in which civilization kinda ends, as in, all the achievements we had until now as a globalized society will be gone with humans surviving in scattered pockets of the world, not as free, organized nations. That is not some crazy far out scenario, fat tail chances are very real and we were mostly surprised by bad news when it comes to climate change, not good news.

And of course richer people will be able to weather the effects a lot better. They are free to travel to nations that are inhabitable and can afford all the defenses there are against any of the effects of climate change. However, even that has limits. That is a game you can play a long time, but not forever. If you, for example, in a very bad scenario, assume an america becoming an unstable nation without an actual government, then all the money in the world is not going to protects Jeff Bezos from a riot. Because money would lose value and at some point, even a private army needs food that poorer people are supposed to deliver to them. Rich people are secure as long as there are stable governments that protect them. The second that they have no place with a friendly government that keeps the mob away from them is the second their wealth becomes meaningless.

But that is not a scenario that we should look forward to. Right now, in my opinion, people need to be as active as they can to prevent such worst case scenarios.

In my opinion, everybody can inform themselves about climate change.
Everybody can talk about it in an emotional and honest way to those close to them about the insane danger of climate change.
And most people can donate to climate movements or even protest with them or support them in other ways.

If everyone who was at least open to this thing (and not already a zombie) would do that, I think we'd have a lot better chances to still keep a liveable world.

The sad truth tho is that media keep people in the dark (at least some media) and most people still do not understand what kind of hellscape might await them. They severaly underestimate that there is a very real chance of losing the foundations of our societies (as in, democracy, rule of law and such) and looking at decades of death and starvation.

However, being rich helps Bezos afford whatever technology or space is created to protect against global warming, like an exclusive underground dwelling with good AC, for example. He can create a safe house that's impenetrable and maybe get someone to get food and supplies if need be under the promise of safety.

Problem is, a lot of people don't believe in climate change, and many that do don't want to change their ways of living, like traveling less and using public transportation more, and etc. THen you have companies and the military happily contributing to global warming while blaming plastic straws. And on top of that, shitheads like Elon who fight against stuff like high speed rail that could help the environment just so people buy his shitty Teslas.

Just bought a shitty tesla btw, lol.
In the end though It's part of life cycle. Survive, adapt or die.

But what we are doing right now is breaking whatever life cycles earth and humanity had. A lot of species are dying out already (and at a fast pace) and we are creating a world that will be uninhabtable in many places.
And we do that without any need for it, this is not a natural event, this humanity creating a mass extinction event.

I do not know any person that truly understands what horrors are about to come both the intellectual and emotional level and still does not want radical climate action to be taken.

That is why in my opinion the step needs to be to be outspoken about this, including fears. If everyone who understands climate change sugarcoats it behind irony or doomerism, then the people that do not want to face that reality have an easier time supressing their own fears.
On the other hand, if in many circles of friends or families people openly talk about their fears and the facts of climate change, that can have a bigger impact than stranger on the internet arguing about it.

Humans can adapt /alter the environment . If the animals can not dapt to their environment thats on them tbh. The same for the "environment" that created us. Maybe it should have thought better before it created us and gave us the ability to alter the world we live in. Also currently we have the nesscary technologies such has hydroponics and the like to not harm /lessen the planet or waste resources. Wearher humans use them in mass quantities is another matter.

That has limits. Humans are not able to adapt to what climate change has in store in worst case scenarios. The only thing they might be able to do is flee to the places that are left inhabitable.

Ask yourself a question: If there were technologies to be able to deal with heat beyond 120 Degree Fahrenheit, then why are so many people in the regions with that kind of heat either dying or relocating? Nobody lives in Death Valley.
You can build cities in the desert if you get water from somewhere else (america does that in some cases), however, that will very quickly fall apart once we are out of water. And we are going to be out of water once we exhausted the groundwater which we absolutely need to do agriculture (and we are exhausting it: Groundwater Decline and Depletion | U.S. Geological Survey (usgs.gov) )

So what is going to happen is that we face several threats at the same time:

-Rising Saltwater makes agriculture harder because we will have less spots with sweet groundwater.
-We will need much more water because we are facing extreme heat in many regions.
-The groundwater we are using right now is going to be exhausted. Let me rephrase that: we are ALREADY using more water than we can replenish.

There are also no real countermeasures to extreme heat. There are ways to cool flats, that is true. But a) many people cannot afford to keep that running 24/7, b) you gotta step outside at some point.
If you just look at south america, you can see that some of the workforce cannot deal with that heat anymore (construction workers, agricultural workers, anything you gotta do outside for prolonged periods of time). And there really is no solution for that. There is no technology that enables people to really deal with prolonged periods of extreme heat.

Humanity cannot adapt to these things. At least not quickly enough.

Because we are not facing 1 crisis, we are facing hundreds of crisis that all have a common source.

Water shortage is just one example. Our whole infrastructure is not built to withstand such heat. It is also not built to withstand waether extremes like floods. We have very vulnerable, global product chains that rely on different states being able to do certain worksteps.
If for example suddenly agrilcutlure becomes much harder in southern europe, africa and south america, then the food that was grown there cannot easily just be replaced by other countries doing more agriculture. Building that up takes years.

Look at how Wheat was insanely dependent on Russia and Ukraine and is already very hard to get for the third world now. Imagine that, but not with 1 product, but with hundreds at the same time while we look at a multitude of other very severe problems.
You cannot adapt to that, that is outside the scope of humanity's ability to organize itself.

I think humanity can adapt to most of those things but might not be quickly enough. For example if the condition on earth gets too serious for sustainable life, put the work in place to make life human life muti planetary /space but again the powers that be need to work on the infrastructure, preparation/ planning before everything meltsdown.

If nothing is done before a global meltdown, then obviously it will be too late.

Relying on one or two places for global needs is no good /poor management/ infrastructure as the case with ukriane/Russia. Again i belive we have the capability to handle most of these crises, at large with adequate time. Wether or not the powers in charge will do it is anothe story.

If we die out due to our own stupidity / negligence / wtv. I dont particularly care. You lie in the coffin you dig. Life will continue to evlove / work out elsewhere in the universe.

Kinda off topic, but it is interesting/problematic, given logically the ag industry should be wanting to move towards using groundwater but it would seem that option is closed.

What we would logically need to do is to move towards Veganism so we can save water.
We also need to take decisive action to stop food waste (which is water waste because 90% of water is used to grow food).

Basically speaking, see it like this: The wealth of the world is mostly in nature. THat is not hippie talk. Nature provides a lot of basic services that are either irreplaceable (air, water) or at least very helpful (wood, bees), but companies often use them for free without any incentive to use them sparingly.

Humans cannot live without water, it is a resouece so important that it should be a priority to ensure that the chance that we will ever have a shortage of it is zero. But we are exhausting our water reserves for luxurity products while there is already a shortage of it in parts of the world. And while we exhaust it, we run into a world where water will be even sparser.

That must be stopped and one important move would be to make it very expensive for companies to use water, because water is that important. Using water sparingly is something the government should incentivice for companies and consumers alike and right now, that just isn't the case.
