BLM deserves 0 respect. They're as much of a hate group as the KKK is. Why anyone is giving them the time of day is beyond my understanding as a logical human being.
One of the two groups you mentioned has a 150+ year history of violent crime, political assassinations, religious and racial bigotry and not to mention lynchings...and it isn't BLM.

Mind you, this is coming from someone who is nauseated by political correctness. But this comparison is honestly ridiculous, sorry.

As a libertarian myself the most appealing ones so far are Ben Carson and Rand Paul. Ben because he is a lot like Trump in terms of not being a politician but different in the fact he is actually a respectful human being. Rand Paul actually stands for liberty and his record shows that, plus his tax reform plan is awesome.
Yeah, Ben Carson is clearly someone a libertarian would vote for....I mean, what? Sure he's an outsider, but he clearly has no problem shoving his religious views down people's throat. And he's also a hypocrite when it comes to the recent fetal tissue "controversy" for being against it but working with fetal tissue himself. He's also unabashedly homophobic. Fiscally he may very well be right down a Libertarian's alley, but socially? Hell no. The guy is a brilliant surgeon and has done a ton of good, which is more than can be said about many politicians, I'll give him that. But that doesn't mean I want him or anyone like him near the Oval Office.

Rand Paul seems like a fraud to me. It was easy for him when his constituency was small and can cater to that, but he's already gone back on a lot of his stances and contradicted himself. To me, he appears as just another person who would say anything to get elected. He couldn't make a pimple on his father's ass, sorry.

BLM deserves 0 respect. They're as much of a hate group as the KKK is. Why anyone is giving them the time of day is beyond my understanding as a logical human being. I don't know of anyone who doesn't support Palestine, but what many don't support is how they invested and trusted their government to be run by a terrorist organization in Hamas.
The hell? how are they a hate group like KKK? I don't recall BLM ever killing people or burning effigies on another's personal property. I don't understand how you can even think BLM are a hate group when their purpose is to stop the officers from killing black people and getting away with it, while the KKK's purpose was to restrict black people and rob them of freedom and equality, goin as far as killing them and any sympathizers. BLM's purpose is to prevent lives being lost.

They're getting the time of day BECAUSE of shit like an officer shooting a black man in the back six times and trying to frame him, or a police officer shooting a mentally impaired black man who was naked and had no weapon.

Rand Paul is an idiot, not sure why people take him seriously. But then again, people are actually voting for Trump, so yeah.

So America is obsessed with race and religion even tho FREEDOM of religion and NO discrimination are already things in the constitution? Why obsess on such issues and worsen the liberties they both enjoy? Sure if Blacks are murdered, imprisoned and are victims of injustice you need to point it out, but as an outsider from the country I do not get WHY the race issue is so big? All this division has caused Ferguson and rioting and at some areas America is on the verge of race war. Why fuel this rhetoric into the political mainstream when thus far I have seen nothing good come out of it. Beginning with Trumps comments on immigrants to the whole BLM movement interrupting Sanders.

Let me compare this to my country here we have co-existance with the ethnic Albanians, both on a national(Macedonians /Albanians) and religious(Christian/Muslim) because we do not obsess over the differences as much as the political elites would like to, Albanians are represented in Parliment by an ETHNICALLY EXCLUSIVE party, but they are tired of such bull, if BLM would turn from a movement into a party that would only be there for a single ethnic group interest, whats the point of fighting for the rights of a singe group then? I do not remember MLK fighting just for Blacks, he was more cosmopolitan than that. Does America want to turn into a reverse Apartheid?

Special rights to whites, blacks, Christians, Muslims can never end well, people need to unite under one idea in order to persevere.

If anyone wants to read up on giving minorities a "special" treatment within a constitution:

The constitution is not the zeitgeist, nor are African Americans Albanians. There are completely different histories leading to the situations you're comparing. How is it that people standing up and demanding to be treated equally under the law are somehow "dividing people?" Is it not the unequal treatment itself that is divisive? Pointing out injustice and demanding it be remedied neither directly nor indirectly "divides" people.

The ones who ACTUALLY divide people are the powerful political operatives/lobbies/media entities who manipulate the public with spurious wedge issues to the extent that there are now famous people who have shamelessly built lucrative careers on "strategizing" with such tactics. People like the US' Karl Rove or Australia's Lynton Crosby (just hired by the Conservative party's political campaign here in Canada to help them "dog whistle" their way into saving Harper's sorry butt before our election next month). In this age of PR politics, those kinds of tactics are both specifically *intended* to and *do* divide people. This goes right back through history. Lee Atwater, for example, admitted his part in using race to turn reactionary white people against black people in the US South in a certain infamous interview.

Where is the public outrage and popular condemnation of them intentionally and successfully dividing people? You never hear the average person talk about what it means that such tactics have become mainstream, yet people are so very quick to go after those with far less relative power for daring to stand up against injustice. And all struggles for human rights face this kind of uphill battle against public opinion, including that of their historical predecessor, Martin Luther King Jr.

I do not remember MLK fighting just for Blacks, he was more cosmopolitan than that. Does America want to turn into a reverse Apartheid?
What? How on earth does anything BLM has said or done even marginally resemble support for Apartheid? The name "Black Lives Matter" is drawing attention to an issue which none of them have said stops with black people. I heard a pretty good analogy for this on a podcast a while ago, but I don't remember where the quote I'm paraphrasing originally came from: Imagine if you sat down to dinner with your family and everyone except you got their plate filled. So you say "I should get some," but your father says "No, everybody should get some," and that's that. Your empty plate is ignored and you go hungry. Obviously the "I should get some" had an implicit too. No reasonable person would assume that someone in that situation is saying nobody else should have the dinner just because you're asking for some of it. The same is the case with "black lives matter." Another analogy: When animal rights activists or environmentalists talk of saving the whales, does anybody assume they're saying dolphins and sharks should die? Of course not. If policies for policing and police training are improved as a result of BLM efforts, it won't only benefit black people, nor even just people of colour. It will benefit all people who face harassment by police officers held to few standards of accountability. Literally everyone stands to benefit from what they are doing.

Special rights to whites, blacks, Christians, Muslims can never end well, people need to unite under one idea in order to persevere.
Considering we are all still living the global legacy of a looooong history of special rights to white people, I totally agree. We haven't managed it yet, but I hope we achieve equality sooner rather than later.

Purpose of Black Lives Matter isn't to say "BLACK LIVES ARE SUPERIOR!!!1" It's to say black lives are just as important, and they shouldn't be lost dealing with the police. THe whole movement was born because the police keeps killing black men (and women too) and rarely getting charged for it, they get acquitted. Too many white people are shockingly ignorant and try to compare that to random black thugs killing a white person when those thugs would get caught and punished.

I think Bernie Sanders won a lot of BLM supporters when he hired a BLM supporter to help him.

The United States never stopped being a society deeply effected by colonial race standards. We went from slavery to Jim Crow to mass incarceration. The situation never truly changed, only the institutions. That's why we have major race upheavals every ten years or so; people know the "equality through the law" thing is complete bullshit.

Makes it hard not to support BLM when their objective is to get equality and justice. They did what they had to do, and it got them a more educated ally in The Bern. Should also have solidified blacks not supporting Trump when he threatened to beat up the BLM if they interrupted his campaigning.

Also, fuck the government/Republicans for de-funding Planned Parenthood. Another reason I don't want a conservative in the office or in the government.

Well, the mass incarceration situation is less about systematic racism (though it's obviously a factor) and more about the failed war on drugs and the privatization of the prison system. There is a logical failure when you think of a system that profits off of keeping people in prison rather than rehabilitating people...it just doesn't add up at all.

Conservatives are annoying as fuck. A lot of them claim facts and shit, but they don't mention how they bring in unrelated facts or bullshit facts. Funnily enough, before I even knew or cared about liberal or conservative or progressivism, my FB "friends" kept calling me a liberal or Democrat or left wing for wanting good things for people. That skewered my opinions of conservatives and Republicans and right wing, so now I highly dislike them and their views. Funny how that works out.

Even so, I still didn't side with a party when I registered to vote.

The bit that has surprised me this time around about the elections is republicans going on about stuff like "conservative change" or "conservative revolution". I mean, it sounds more than a fair bit contradictory....

I dont like that viewpoint, democrats are good and righteous people, while republicans are selfish and self serving.

How do people view conservative democrats I wonder.

If it makes you feel better, I see democrats as the lesser evils. Republicans haven't proven to be selfless or about others, even faking it like democrats do.

Probably the same as they view conservative Republicans, but not as negatively? I mean, nowadays it's more about conservatives vs. liberals over republicans vs. democrats. I've been called a liberal over twenty times while a democrat no more than six times on FB.

but I'm sharing my personal experience that conservatives, right wings, and Republicans tend to be annoying, calling everything they don't agree with liberal or being insulting like "you stupid left wing people!" I should also make it known that I only know of two non-conservatives/republicans/right wings out of hundreds of people, one of them being drmke.

Dunno if you're acquainted with Sahil. I didn't know what you were even though you criticize the Republicans.

I'm seriously hoping Trump and Cruz don't win though. Can't believe Trump is popular just because he doesn't care about being politically correct. He's gonna say something stupid and get us bombed, I'm pretty sure of this. Funny how republicans keep using Obama's disapproval as arguments, but they don't have any real argument anyway.

The ideal candidate is one who
  • increases american military spending to greatly increase american security abroad and away
  • decreases overall federal spending to crush the deficit
  • gives states more power
  • lessens the tax burden on businesses
  • increase american energy independence by focusing on measures to continue to make current fuels reliable and more efficient, while studying nuclear and other sources
  • have the US leave the UN

Increasing military spending is not a direct link to making the country safer. All it does is give more power and influence to the military-industrial complex. Who profits when we go to war? The people who receive DoD contracts. I don't think gutting defense spending is a good idea, but increasing it does not directly correlate to securing our interests.

So we should increase federal spending towards the military and decrease it everywhere else? Doesn't make much sense to me.

Give more states power how? In what ways?

Why should we leave the UN?

Increasing military spending would increase the number of american aircraft carriers, update aging equipment, establish better and updated bases, and additionally increasing the numbers of man power. Less time would spent on repairing aging equipment with the purchase of new equipment. And more people in the forces, preferably conventional soldiers and more special operatives would be good.

States ought to be able to address things like education on their own not from a mandate from the federal government, etc.

America ought to leave the UN as it seems UN members dont appear to carry their weight in foreign military issues or are not in line with US interests abroad putting much of the weight onto the US. How has america benefited from the UN as of late. US leaving the UN has been a popular issue for years.

^well, to be fair most of the enemies the US currently has, at least in the middle east, are for the most part made by the US. Alqaeda and isis are the easy and rather obvious examples. And if anything the only reason these guys keep getting people to join their ranks is because the US keeps bombing stuff. Now, I am not saying the US should just leave the places its at because that would as well not help anyone. However the way things at least seem to work right now is more or less like this:

1.- Terrorist groups attack
2.- US or whoever responds
3.- people get caught in the crossfire
4.- Terrorist groups approach people, blame the US and get them to join them
5.- Terrorist groups attack

The US has been making its own enemies for decades, adding more money to the military won't change this. With that in mind the situation would seem to be that the US would generate more enemies as it increases its capacity to bomb them.... The US should focus more on getting people to like them so that they don't join ISIS and such groups to begin with rather than continue to bomb stuff. How they would do that is admittedly difficult though.

Is the deficit thing that huge a problem? It's a government, a dramatically different situation from a business and thinking about the situation as you would debt in a business is wrong (the US prints money after all, businesses don't). Also, hasn't the deficit been decreases over the past several years to begin with anyways?

Even if the assumption is made that the UN has not been favorable to the US, there is absolutely no benefit to anyone anywhere including the US in leaving it. I mean, how? And even then, its not the UN's job to follow anyone's specific interest (which it probably does anyways), it's job should be to look after everyone's interest. The UN is far from perfect but everyone is still better off with it than without it.

Increasing American military spending just puts us more in debt and takes away money that can be used for better things, like supporting the veterans or Americans. We shouldn't be focusing on increasing security abroad, we should be focused on minding our business. once we do that, I'm sure we'll stop being hated.

Reduce money put in defense, and increase taxes on rich people and big businesses. I'm sure businesses like Wal-Mart and Apple can afford taxes when they rake in millions from profits, and Wal-Mart is stingy about treating its employees well.

The president should focus more on fixing things that affect Americans. Allow abortion, fund Planned Parenthood, do something about student loans before America sinks irreversibly deep, and help those who need a push to get started.
