I like how Trump turned into a whiny little shit again, this time because of Meryl Streep. Fucking lying manchild who shouldn't be trusted with any sort of power. His asshat supporters love to call others snowflakes, but Trump is the biggest snowflake I've ever seen.

Well, she's an idiot as well. As if people in contact sports or professional sports are all born here in the US and that there's nothing "artistic" about athletics. She threw the baby out with the bathwater with that statement.

She was preaching to the choir there though, I suppose. But making a statement about such a thing a year after it happened? What's the point? I guess Trump being a whiny bitch is normalized at this point, but it doesn't change the fact that Streep came off completely out of touch with her "Football and MMA" comment. Doesn't even make sense, like I mentioned previously.

Why not, I guess. It is weird, but I guess maybe the attack on the white disabled guy and people somehow standing up for him, when they didn't for the reporter, is why she brought it up?

Probably stuck up and thinks acting is above sports, or that sports are lowly?

What does any of it have to do with winning a lifetime achievement award for acting?

That's usually the issue with these kind of political diatribes people go on. I can only imagine what the Oscars will be like.

Not that celebrities aren't human or anything and not entitled to have an opinion. I just find it cringeworthy when they grandstand like this. That goes for either side though, but it's much more common for the left. Clint Eastwood's speech to a chair at the RNC in 2012 was just as self-indulgently baffling.

I'm clearly talking about the news. I'm guessing she chose to use the platform to talk about mental disabilities and Trump given people defending the victim for being attacked by a group of black people (which is the only reason why they cared, let's be honest), but not caring about Trump mocking a disabled reporter.

Much more common for the left, or equally as common? Though if you're talking about non-political events, you're probably right.

Clint Eastwood sounds like one of those deranged republicans, tbh.

Did you listen to the speech at all? She had two main points in it, that the Golden Globes is organized by the Hollywood Foreign Press, and that a lot of her peers are foreigners, and if they're all "kicked out" we'll have nothing left but "football and MMA" and that "those aren't art". The second point was her shock at Trump making fun of the disabled reporter that he cited for the whole "muslims celebrating in NJ after 9/11" controversy. My point was this happened in November 2015, she didn't mention the incident in Chicago at all. But okay, that doesn't make her feelings about it unreasonable, even if it has nothing to do with the accepting of a liftetime achievement award. I just find the first part incredibly hypocritical and makes her sound like a massive, out-of-touch snob.

It's more common because the entertainment industry is overwhelmingly liberal.

I see it more as the DNC refusing to admit they screwed the pooch.

Republicans are trying their damnedest to defund Planned Parenthood... again. If there's proof that they don't give a shit about people, this is it. Instead of seeing it as other services Planned Parenthood can offer, it only sees abortions. And yet, they won't do anything for the lives that already exist.
Yeah

Not surprising the right wing is so in the pocket of big business it's embarrassing. Sometime I wish politicians were forced to wear NASCAR style logo's on their suits to show who their financial sponsors are.

You got it the wrong way round.
Nothing in her emails or any other leak proved any criminal behaviour.
Nothing at all.

She lost because of the media (and 'altmedia' are media too) campaign against her which was based almost completely on lies.

And what makes it better if not ALL of it is russia's fault?
Another country meddled in your election and managed to get the candidate into office that they liked.
How is that not a problem to you?

And how in the world is clinton a weak candidate for things that trump did a hundred times worse?
It's doesn't have to be legally criminal to be immoral and it's this kind weak E-lawyering while being blind to the facts that her and her supporters continue to spew out that turns people off and why she lost.

The media was clearly PRO-Hillary with the exception of FOXnews and was hardly objectively critical of Hillary while spending every waking moment criticizing Trump and ignoring or marginalizing Bernie. They gave Trump countless hours of free media trying to deflate him.

To put it simply Hillary failed not because some foreign power meddled in the election but because she was a poor candidate and did not resonate with the interest of what people wanted. Hence why she polled poorly against Trump months earlier compared to Bernie. She could hardly mouth the words let alone convince anyone that she was going to stand up and fight for their interests instead she spent all her time spewing out Anti-Trump rhetoric. That doesn't even touch upon her own shady dealings and the leaked emails revealing how the deck was stacked in her favor but never mind all that we should just vote for her because she's a women and gender politics and all.

She lost 8 years ago to a virtually unknown candidate for similar reasons people don't trust her and with good reason SHE'S FULL OF IT.

No. The media include all media, and the social media were clearly pro trump. There was a huge media cmampaign against clinton with things that she DIDNT DO while the traditional media at least used things trump DID do and say.
That is hell of a difference.
You cannot say that someone who behaves like a clown and gets reported as a clown had the media against him.

Clinton clearly failed to a big extent due to conspiracy theories against her which were to a big part fueled by alt right which to some extent got support from russia.

The deck was stacked against clinton, not for her.
You saying that her dealing with the emails were 'shady' in comparison to any other normal politician and EXSPECIALLY in comparison to trump is testimony to that.

LMAO it's beyond obvious that the media and even members of the DNC were PRO-hillary hell even before the primaries were even fully started you had super delegates already in the tank for her. All this crying about conspiracy theories is just the Hillary side trying to save face and explain away their utter failure to connect with people and inspire them.

Did Hillary loose 8 years ago to an unknown black candidate with middle name Hussein because of conspiracy theories too? Clearly you and many others are not getting why she really lost both now and then and can only guess it was some fluke rather than see the big picture and pattern of her behavior.

Meanwhile the media treated Bernie like he was a cute 8 year old kid who said he wanted to run for president "awww isn't that cute now get out of the way you wouldn't want to hurt Hillary's chances." As if she was the anointed one and everyone is suppose to shut up and sit down and no one was suppose to challenge her and if challenged it would hurt her chances...that just goes to show you what a weak and fragile campaign she has that they fear scrutiny.

Hillary is disingenuous and people feel this on a gut level when ever she speaks it's like listening to a robot you could just put the speech on google translate and get the same response. When you listen to someone like Bernie or Elizabeth Warren you can sense the passion in their voice and they have track record to back it. Hillary pretending to be a progressive wasn't fooling anyone but it does go to show people she'll do and say anything to appeal for votes.
When questioned by people about her past the campaign becomes hyper defensive and since they can't win people over with the facts they resort to the cliche line "well it's better than Trump"

She spent all her time talking about Trump when he already had countless hours of free media. Where was she at talking about things people actually cared about like making college affordable and raising the minimum wage or creating jobs. Nope just pander to the anti-Trump Feminist rhetoric and then pretend to have the cure to it all because OMG your a woman.

Using gender politics doesn't work as people don't vote purely on gender or racial lines. You actually have to connect to people on some of the issues that are important to them. Hillary is crap candidate as many people knew hence why she polled poorly against Trump in early poll during the primary and why many people urged for Bernie but NO the DNC knows best and here we are.

To this current discussion I say - "Why not both"? Russian influence doesn't seem to be a conspiracy theory, but the depth of it sort of borders on it, simply because we don't know the facts. But I really don't think Hillary lost the election due to it. I don't see how anyone can think that a huge portion of Trump voters were perpetually on Twitter using #PizzaGate hashtags and buying everything these types were selling.

Thankfully in the wake of the election, SOME Democrats in positions of power were willing to admit that this loss requires some self-examination, regardless of the effects of Russian hacking. Just look at how the mainstream media reacted to her losing, and you'll see how out of touch some of them were. And I can't currently say that they got fooled because no one was putting Podesta email conspiracies in front of them. I don't think the general voting population were aware of that shit on a large scale, they just got bullshitted by a loudmouth, pathological liar (aside from the very few things Trump did "right", but I must stress FEW) who wasn't afraid to attack a female politician in some of the worst ways possible and completely own it (by lying about it, i might add).

If you don't blame Hillary or her party for losing, then you're deluded, plain and simple. Hillary lost because of her image, because of her past. The media for the most part were against Trump and for Hillary, and Hillary was up against a dumbass. Social media was split, give or take. Hillary lost because anyone can tell she or the democrats don't give a shit about the average people, especially given what they did to Bernie.

Giving Trump free press to appear whenever and however he wanted is not being "against" him in function. The two candidates just couldn't have operated any more differently from each other than they did. Trump will talk to anyone who listens, Hillary is way more calculated and closed-off.

Trump got their attention, and it definitely worked in their favor (let's also not forget that they've greatly underestimated Trump). So whatever how you look at it (be it that the Media were biased or not), they gave him the attention that he's running while they kept Sanders out of the spotlight with little to no coverage.

Man... this is going to be a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG 4 years...

But they were against him when they criticized him. It just so happens that most of Trump supporters are idiots who believe anything Trump says and whine about "fake news" when they think Breitbart and Infowars are legit. Trump continuously criticized most sources like CNN, even.

Just so happens there are people who think Trump is a people's man despite him bragging about cheating businesses and not paying taxes :kappa

All what Trump needed was attention, and attention is what he got the moment he said shit about Mexicans. Whether the Media was criticizing him or not, they are the gateway to letting the people know that you exist as a Candidate.

A spotlight is a spotlight. He was charismatic (to some) and boisterous enough to keep his names in the headlines.

Most Trump voters are people who read Breitbart and buy Infowars's nonsense? I really don't think that's the case. Just like most of the people who've voted for Hillary don't/didn't necessarily subscribe to the "vast, right-wing conspiracy" against her husband either.

Yeah, but he also got criticized, which he can't handle. What the media did was blow up what Trump said, which a lot of people agreed with.

What? Most people wouldn't have voted for Hillary if they believed the right-wing conspiracy theories. Her rep and image are so fragile that even against an incompetent idiot, the poll gap was not much. If someone like Bernie was running instead of Hillary, maybe we'd have seen a lot more voters, esp for Bernie.

True though, spotlight is good for a "charismatic" idiot who appeals to the idiots. The news probably thought they were hurting him by criticizing him and bringing up shit he said that were stupid. :\

I'm talking about the sex scandals during Bill's presidency. She famously described all of it as a "vast, right--wing conspiracy" against him.

Wow... even more reason why she was a shit choice. The dems really fucked themselves over by being behind Hillary full force instead of being impartial and letting Bernie be showcased as well.
