I don't disagree with that. Nato-US-EU has definitely been a military threat to plenty of places, primarily in the middle east. Starting the war in iraq, getting involved in the syria, lybia conflicts, backing saudi arabia in yemen... and so many other... pointless waste of lives that either didn't make the world a better place or even made it worst... Nato is a military threat to plenty of places, primarily in the middle east. But that doesn't mean there's a non zero chance of it invading russia. it's other interests? sure. but a direct attack to russia? Absolutely not, that's a baseless lie.

But... that's not what's going on here. And with today's technology any super power can reach anywhere with its missiles. A few hundred kms of distance won't change that. Russia and the US have had the capacity to nuke the planet ten times over for decades now..
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

I 100% agree with that. It's pretty much what i've been saying.
You should read up on why distance is important in first-strike capability, and if NATO isn't a threat to Russia they aren't a threat to anyone.

Oh, well, they're only brown people. Btw, this is a war on poor brown we are underwriting as well.

"Herman and Chomsky define “worthy” victims, as portrayed in the media, as victims of regimes unfriendly to U.S. interests, while “unworthy” victims are those who suffer at the hands of the U.S. itself or one of its allies."

Oh, sorry, scratch that. *checks notes* Nope, not Russian bases.

I'll try this again, Russian bases ladies and gentlemen:

Ah... fuck, what is wrong with my links?

It seems mainly non-white people are the ones talking about and bringing up stuff like Palestine and Yemen, and the hypocrisy of the West.

Later, I'll try to look up how many tanks, artillery pieces and mobile rocket launchers europe has to contrast with the statistics russia is credited with having. ^

@Raven, you're the one who is good at strategy games. Maybe you can shed some insight on things.

Many nations today are paper tigers banking on past historical glory from centuries past.

Russia however may not be a paper tiger, like most of europe.

It may be a real tiger. At least as far as their military power goes.

It's hard to tell what's propaganda and what's not, but here goes...

I take no responsibility for the following and its veracity, but it seems Russia hasn't even sent it's best, yet:

That said, they've certainly stopped short of some obvious assets.

As for Russia VS USA, conventionally they will be crushed because it will be USA+NATO vs Russia (though I agree Russia has put a lot of effort in efficiency and asymmetrical warfare). IF China and maybe a few randos join (Iran? Turkey?) it would be a wash for both parties. Again, conventionally speaking.

But, if it gets that bad in the first place, nukes are on the table and all goes to shit.

The best thing we can do is try to deescalate, but that doesn't seem to be the interest here. Everyone wants Russia to heel, but the cat is already out of the bag. Now what, Russia just stops? They wouldn't have invaded this severely if they were just going to stop willy-nilly.

I can tell you this, Games =\= Reality, This isn't a sandbox testing environment, where you compare military statistics with eachother, It doesn't work that way. A more in depth analysis would take me days to explain the consequences for each move. I was talking in economical sense anyway, Russia is in deep shit.

Things that make you go 'hmmm' - fyi, Alex Jones also said there would be a war kicking off in later Feb a couple months back. Bizzaro world.

^ Obviously this isn't the ONLY reason, but it's still worth understanding

I used to play a World War II strategy game on the internet.

It was a niche environment that appealed to active and retired officers in the US military.

Maybe leadership abilities, charisma and real world strategy do not translate to a gaming environment? It was normal for the players with a legit military background to get wrecked by teenagers who were smart and good at strategy based games.

It is possible that people who are good at strategy games could have a better grasp of aspects of warfare and strategy than generals or admirals in the US military. It might sound counter intuitive but it could also be true.

...

There was another strategy game I played that had a clan composed of members of a terrorist group in the middle east. Like a legit terrorist group whose name I had never heard of and had to google. This was like 10+ years ago and I don't remember their name. But its was kinda hilarious. The internet is such a small place, you never know what kind of people you're interacting with. pnp

lol, Imagine allowing soldiers to fight in army based on their CSGO playing hours, and ranking them based on their game ranks

He's certainly burning up any single shred of goodwill he's every remotely had in doing so. I hate comparisons to other WW2 dictators, but I'm sure even they had more popular support at times.

Maybe his brain cancer (?) will prevent a 'vacation with Eva Braun' scenario...

People might laugh at me.

But I think gamers who play strategy games might come up with better material than the stuff DARPA releases.

Putin is doing a terrible job with his public relations.

It appears he's determined to be the villain and make no attempt at moral high ground.

Because he is a villain, attacking innocent people for selfish reasons.

Uke being fast-tracked into the EU.

I'm still looking for evidence he's attacking innocent people. I've seen reporting for corridors left open to let residents out and advance warnings for strikes, while targeting sites with military applications only.

As opposed to a complicit, corrupt Uke government.

I suppose you could make the argument the grunts in the Uke army are innocent. I guess that's what people sign up for. The real victims are of course the civilians though.

You know, when the Emperor of Japan was facing a war he could not win, he surrendered to save his people. Zelensky is asking the old and even prisoners to fight. He'll fight the Russians to the very last drop of Ukrainian blood it seems. And yet the Western media still seeks to lionize him. Imagine wanting to die for a corrupt regime, a democracy you never even had, and in the face of an invasion that isn't a war of annihilation.

Dunno if you're being obtuse on purpose, but Putin is attacking innocent people as well.

So, to be clear, Putin assaults (on day 5) a country of 44M and is assaulting the population at large, on purpose? That's your take?

The death-toll should be astronomical.

They're firing missiles at civilian areas. Even if they give advance warning, still a risk civilians will die, which they have.

I don't think they're fighting to protect democracy.

Can you be more specific about what this means? "at" the city as a whole? Randomly? At churches? Hospitals? Daycares? Are they targeting military targets entrenched, or just having a blast as it were?

I don't disbelieve there are civilian deaths in Ukraine. There's been tens of thousands of casualties for the last 8 years. Plenty enough for tears to be shed and outrage to be had.

I don't think they're fighting to protect democracy.
Funny, that's what the news keeps telling me (all channels btw)... so you think this is an existential crisis for them?
