Why can't you denounce the actions of the Republicans? If you agree with their choices that's fine, but you DO know that you don't lose anything by holding your side to a higher standard, right? Are you ignoring it because you don't want to cede ground to me and the other lefties in the thread? Like we'll hold it over your head or something?

Do you really, honestly think we'd kick you while you're down if you joined us in condemning the actions of the Republican party? It wouldn't make you any less of a conservative, and it would do a lot to engender empathy throughout the thread.

To be clear: no one in here likes the idea of high gas prices. But we think the violation of bodily autonomy is a much larger deal.

I mean, republican voters' determination to vote for shitty republicans (like pedophiles and whatnot) get stronger if/when liberals oppose them, so I'm not sure if republicans do have standards. Few of them do, I guess, as I know few people who stopped being republican (temporarily or permanently) after seeing how republicans were during 2016. However, majority of them were more than happy to vote for creeps solely because liberals didn't like them.

The left gets a lot of flak for no reason, but people love to overlook how immature and shitty the republicans will act.

Dang, did people go that crazy over gas prices back the last time prices went this high? I remember it being a big issue of course but it was still short of being the sort of thing that people would set the country on fire for. I suppose there was more distance between that and the great recession than between this and pandemic (not that the pandemic is done though)?

Weren't meat prices increases due to cyberattacks to the big meat processing plants? Along with of course the collapse of global supply chains. Gas prices are nowhere close to the main reason food prices are up. And I encourage no one to think food prices are about to stabilize, things are absolutely getting worst for the foreseeable future.

Yeah, I just don't think it's the main one. Gasoline prices are something everyone sees however the things driving prices up worldwide are a bit more removed from the average consumers. The average consumer is not the one paying 35000 dollars for a lone container freight. But you can bet your ass that paying that amount for a freight will have a big impact on imported products. My guess (though I haven't made any research for it so I might be talking out my ass) is that gasoline prices got that high in spite of the oil drums in the past being even higher because moving gasoline by sea has gotten that much more expensive as well. Meanwhile we are not really even at the worst part of the supply chain crisis and as far as I can tell no one is investigating shipping companies for price gouging while they make enough money to buy all the cocaine in the world and then some.

A freight container going up in price is also related to how much fuel costs. Fuel is literally a part of every facet of business really. We could also just mainly blame it on greed though, I have no problem with that.

The going statement from oil companies is that the prices went up due to supply not meeting demand compared to during most of the pandemic. Production had to take time to ramp up to meet said demand. Of course this is nonsense mostly and doesn't explain the rate at which prices increased though,

All memes aside, it describes the vast majority of a lot of the younger people in the socialist movement right now . AOC and Bernie are tame as warm milk compared to folks like Vaush or Keffals who are more like a cocktail of battery acid and rusty nails. And then there's Hasan Piker, who's essentially grifting as a socialist on Twitch...

And this is coming from somebody who generally likes Vaush's content
