And now trump declassified files concerning jfk, mlk and rfk. Tbh I'd be surprise that any further evidence had survived this long to begin with... But if it has then democrats once again are going to look like morons. Imagine living in a world where a conspiracy concerning mlks death is finally fully exposed... By djt. This would only be more perfect if biden wasn't a vegetable and could actually comprehend enough of the situation to feel stupid. On the upside there's more spineless, toothless, and plain boneless democrat politicians to humiliate (is that even an upside?).

I mean, fucking obama could have done this. Imagine how humiliating it'd be for obama to have been a signature away from a win this easy and this big and just... Nothing.
You're missing the most important fact about this obvious stunt:

Trump declassified everything except the Epstein files. And he's counting on everyone doing the exact thing you're doing right now: dwelling on what Democrats could've done in the past instead of what Republicans ARE doing in the PRESENT.

Stop making it easy for him.

That's a fair point about epstein stuff (let alone how trump talked about maxwell) but people should simply be doing both things. It's 100% what democrats did and didn't do in the past that got trump back in the white house. Between biden simply not being fit to hold office for at least the past couple of years (let alone being given another presidency) and democrat's utter inability to stand for anything what else could have possibly happened? Republicans will hold the majority of power in the government for at least two years, democrats have basically that long to find anything resembling a spine and principles.

It would be shocking if anything of significance isn't redacted in whatever is released. This is just Trump throwing his podcaster audience a bone IMO.

Putting the hypocrisy aside for a second, from a pure optics standpoint and in regards to Epstein stuff - Trump at least distanced himself from Epstein before people in the Democratic establishment did. Not releasing anything on Epstein could be as much of a favor to himself as it is to others.

Dems knew that, of course, and were fine with losing some pro Gaza voters. But the larger problem is that they even lost a lot of ground with the moderate voter groups that they catered to. Moderate Dems have obviously no idea what the average American would want to vote for, but they often act like they do.
There are certainly some in the consultant class who are completely out of touch and have no clue but plenty of people in power do know what the average American would be motivated to vote for and they work against those things willingly. That is very much the way of things.

That's like implying the first person to run when a gunshot goes off in a crowded area is smarter than everyone else in the crowd. Hell, if anything, the fact that Trump started an immediate damage control narrative is more indicative that he had more to lose than everyone else did since they didn't see the immediacy of the threat, but he did. Perhaps they weren't in a hurry to denounce him because they haven't done anything illegal, and only distanced themselves due to the optics of being known as someone who was friendly with Epstein?

And I'm sure there are Dems that have skeletons in their closet concerning this. But that's all the more reason to acknowledge Trump's actions (or failure to act). Because that means he's not just a sexual predator, he's a protector of sexual predators.

The strategy of using numbers to control people becomes more widespread by the minute. And it does work to a large extent. But this is a game that tech billionaires play better than anyone. The little Nate Silvers have no shot against the Thiels and the Elons (or more hidden players) who just control these vast amount of data and know exactly what 21 year old dog owners in which district of Nebraska click on.

The only real retaliation against that is to run on what is right and defend it, as the other winners are going to disappoint the public time after time (just as Trump did, losing his second run to Biden). Because only then you can find strategies that the numbers cannot find. Trump ran on such a strategy the first time: America is broken. NO consultant ever would have advised you do say that. None. But it rings true with the majority of Americans. Just like, in my opinion, many leftwing ideas do.

But Democrats decided to run on some safe topic (abortion) that they thought would be good enough to make women vote for them without actually doing a lot for women (except not being as bad as republicans). Trump's team knew better how to influence women who were on the fence than that.

I was wondering if things being declassified meant they wouldn't be redacted. So no? With how long it's been it'd be weird if there was something in there that was a threat to national security. It's definitely that of course but there's two things to consider:

1.- It's pretty damn unlikely that this could turn into a loss for trump politically. Worst case it's a nothing burger, best case it's an easy win that scores big points for him that he got for basically no effort.

2.-Um, those youtubers got trump the election. As far as I can tell they were a core part of his campaign and it paid off. Trump throwing them bones makes perfect sense and his voters will absolutely know. When do democrats do stuff like this? Republicans humiliated democrats internet wise when it comes to the campaign.

Quite an eventful weekend, Trump pretty much made displacing gazans into official US policy. So much for a two state solution.

He's also pretty much destroying our agricultural workforce. People voted for Trump for cheaper gas and instead got more expensive eggs, coffee... and everything else.

Petro capitulated in hours though. Did those things get more expensive over the weekend?

I dunno, I was just offhandedly naming shit that was supposed to get more expensive. Like, the eggs are gonna get worse because of avian flu, and the coffee was gonna get more expensive because of tariffs.

Kicked out of where? Petro has literally zero leverage. Previous colombian governments may have had some leverage as they collaborated with US on drug related issues but petro is pretty much letting cartels work unimpeded while guerrillas continue to gain power (because he is of their variety of vile).

Kicked out of their positions? I want to say worse things, but figured it's better to keep it politically correct.

But it'd be because of how Trump and Vance have shown their stupidity, although I heard that they and Colombia came to a deal today?

Nope, and a different way of thinking about this is it is the act of redacting information itself that makes it so certain documents are able to be declassified in the first place. Otherwise it wouldn't happen unless perhaps it benefits the agenda at the time.

1. Yeah, it's low effort and if it hurts anyone it won't negatively affect Trump in any way

2. I wasn't being sarcastic really. Like I said, it's a low effort thing that will create hours of "entertainment" to some degree. No downside really.

Yeah, I don't see anything changing with this party. At best they'll just hope a second Trump presidency is so disastrous that there's no way Vance can be elected. And who pays the cost of that in the end? Same shit, different toilet.

I didn't bring it up to praise Trump really, just noting that something that could be seen as entirely self-serving is also potentially to the benefit of even his political "enemies". And also, it clearly matters a lot less to his supporters in any case.

Of course he's that. But also, that's almost any Republican in general lol

Colombia agreed to receive airplanes with its citizens within a few hours of the whole thing starting. It wasn't so much a deal as it was a "take back your people or I will use a mean twit to send your economy back to the middle ages".

Yeah, I do not think the old guard understood yet that this is a misery of their own making. Hopefully some powers will shift, but looking at it more constructively, first there needs to be some strong leftist candidate that people who also doubt the current approach can rally behind.

oh I thought Colombia took back its citizens because they'd rather have them back than be in USA's jails

That would be sane but countries usually refuse to take back deportees. Ironically some of the reasons for that are lack of papers, vetting and security concerns. Throw in a dose of countries lacking the resources to process the sheer volume of migrants. I am going to guess some governments have a vested interest in money that comes in the form of remittances. Mexico usually refuses to take back folk over concerns that the folk who walk across the border aren't all mexicans. Basically they clean their hands of the issue.

Today is a difficult day in Germany, because the conservative party knowingly voted with the right extremist party for the first time on the national level. That might not sound like much, but it is. German politics had the understanding that this is something you simply do not do even as conservative, but now even a coalition between the conservatives and the right extremists comes into the realm of possible. The right extremists are already at roughly 20% in the polls and even have chances to become the strongest political force (with the support of Elon Musk, no less).

However, I am oddly hopeful. The election of Trump had (both times) a huge effect on German politics. The first time around, the Green party gained a lot of strength and members, because silent liberals in Germany felt the need to do something to prevent something like Trump here. This time around, the effect also extends to the Left party, which was in shambles just some months ago (and unlikely to get elected into parliament). Right now, they are gaining a lot of members and goodwill and seem to have (finally) a coherent strategy and message without a lot of infighting. So while I do not think this election will have a result that I like, I feel like there is finally some movement to fight back against the rightwing push. At least I will gladly give my vote this time and do not have to think about it too much, because there is a clear choice that I would like to gbe as strong as possible.

I would really hope that this is something to happenin the US, too, and I think we might be seeing that outside of the democratic party with organizing (for example in fights with landlords) or Unions. Hopefully there will be at least some movement in the democratic party before the midterms.

There really are no depths to this idiot's fall-off is there?

There are important movements going on there, however I'm dubious to how mainstream those things will become. European governments benefit from some general form of Democratic socialism at least to some degree, that's simply not allowed in broad daylight here. The fact that Sanders ever got anywhere in his Presidential races despite labeling himself as such is a miracle.

In case anyone was wondering what BlueMAGA has been up to lately -

Why be self-reflective and rally alongside the vulnerable when you can shit on them instead? After all, they were asking for it because they didn't vote hard enough, right? Wait, what's that, they can't vote in the first place? ....ohh, well that's kinda awkward then.

Well, the schadenfreude (probably misspelled) is aimed at Latinos that COULD vote, voting for Trump and then losing their families. Those people are the ones that deserve mockery and hatred, not the deported relatives. Same for Palestinian Americans/Muslim Americans who abstained or voted Trump.

It isn't just lack of sympathy, it's a really, really good feeling seeing these people suffer facial reconstruction surgery, courtesy of leopards. The sympathy is reserved for the people victimized by their friends, family, and community that sold them up the river for head pats from white Republicans/Trump.

After all, they were asking for it because they didn't vote hard enough, right? Wait, what's that, they can't vote in the first place? ....ohh, well that's kinda awkward then.
I sympathize for the people who were deported because of the decisions of their fellow Latinos, sure. But like the one dude who's Venezuelan wife got deported when he voted for Trump? Fuck that guy, I hope she leaves him.

And I hope every Muslim American that voted Trump, or didn't vote at all, goes to sleep having nightmares of what it would be like living in Gaza.
