I've submitted it.

Truth be told, I've been working on it over the past few days, trying to fix a few serious flaws it had (which I'm not going to specify, as to hopefully not bring attention to them right now in case I have a chance to win), but I just couldn't find the right angles and there were a few things I didn't want to erase, and... well, it just got away from me. I eventually realized that it will literally never be finished if I don't accept the flaws and ink it as it is, so that's what happened. At least I'm happy with how the hair came out, and the end of the blade.

Anyway, I hope more people submit entries!

Would you like a critique? I don't see much wrong with the drawing, but I could offer an opinion.

I have been inspired by Kalevala and finnish mythology lately, so that's why I think I got lucky with the warrior theme. Had been sketching spear-warriors for a while before. Also good for me, because I was pretty sure most of the people would be doing samurai, now it stands out

Pirates would have been nice too, I actually painted one after I was done with Tiera.

Could have used more honing, maybe sharper lines and some textures and details (tattoo color, body haird). Also could have done something more interesting with the setting and the background. And the hat looks weird. But I do really like how the pants turned out.

Phew I'm finally done with this thing.
I tried to upload my entry to the gallery, but I'm unable to. I get an error about reaching my storage limit, and I can't delete old media I have submitted too. So if anyone could do anything about it.

I really wasn't inspired for this contest, I wanted to do something more original, more unique. Instead I went with the samurai, but I think I'm satisfied with the result.
I applied all the knowledge I gathered about shading and inking in this drawing, but it took too long to finish. The size is pretty big too, plus I had to wait till the ink was dry so I wouldn't end up smearing it all over the drawing.
I prolly won't be able to take part in the next contests, unless there is some really interesting theme like the pirate one.

Thanks it's a lot of work. The inking was actually pretty fun, something about it can be relaxing lol, and I experimented a bit with the brushes.

Holy shit Lola, truly amazing!!! Honestly that's way way better than what I was expecting, I've only seen recreated castlevania images from you in the past so I didn't know what an original picture from you would look like, apparently really fucking amazing is what it looks like.

Like I said it's inspired from the samurai on the horse pic I posted in the commentary, so it's not like I completely imagined it out of nowhere.I find it easier to use a reference, especially when drawing the human figure or horses(those can be hard to draw ^^). And of course for the idea itself, I was looking for "horned samurai armor" and I stumbled on that pic.
Now that I think about it I could have done something else like a Viking, or a Cossack. I'm into those lately.
Maybe I'll do it after this one and post it sometime.

Whenever I start a new illustration I gather a ridiculous amount of pictures for reference, or take pictures of myself - if you guys saw my cellphone gallery, is full of me on terrible clothing and random poses XD
I usually take my own pictures for perspective reference

@nanaDmari Yep only a few people can draw the human body out of memory etc. Most wannabe artists use pics as a reference. I want to be able to do that someday too, to draw everything out of memory and I've been trying, but you have to practice a lot, like everyday.

Honestly I'm impressed that quite a few people joined in this contest. Good job everyone and may the best drawing win.

Yeah, I always too have a load of references. Some times I try to pull it totally of my mind, but that works out very rarely and only with simple perspectives and poses. I've often hoped there would be a light easy use software, with a rigged 3D-model of person, that you could put in the pose you want, and set the camera at the right angle too, maybe even add light sources, but the only solutions I've found for that so far are way too time consuming, complex, or heavy for the computer to put in practical use. Quicker to usually google or photo yourself

Oh that could be useful, it costs though, that why I probably didn't notice it before. 8 euros ain't that bad though. Maybe I'll give it a try, great that Play Store has refunds these days.

Yeah it's pretty handy because you can save the pose, and there are different body types. Give it a try and if it doesn't work for you, you can always get a refund.

Accurate drawing from memory/instinct/intuition is purely a result of a looooot of using references, or if not references then at least studying and practicing proper anatomy. When a pose is bullshitted without any basis on a reference or experience and knowledge, then you can really tell and it ruins the drawing. Anyway, as I said, good luck to everyone!

By the way, Yaumil Reiza's drawing, as well as mine, are both awfully big in the voting thread, to the point that they are not viewable at all in my screen. Is it possible to resize them, or is that out of the question?

Oh, I had thought I might be the only one using numerous refrences. Unfortunately, I started the drawing too late and didn't have much time. I was a little more than half way done but I definitely couldn't have made the deadline and rushing wouldn't help since I'm not even that great a drawer to begin with. Still really nice to see those entries

Since it's a writing contest this time around, art isn't something we're encouraging. But if you feel that an artwork will serve to reinforce your work and convey its message, then feel free to add one and give credit where due.
