I feel like putting Macro there is a little unfair, since you need the proper lens to complete a piece, and while I have such a lens myself, I doubt everyone who wants to participate does.

I feel like putting Macro there is a little unfair, since you need the proper lens to complete a piece, and while I have such a lens myself, I doubt everyone who wants to participate does.

That doesn't necessarily matter. It's just a suggestion for now and like the other options, has been put up for votes. It's not guaranteed to be the next theme and if it really is unfair, then the polls will tell. As such, it will remain.

i voted for a "Marco", but look at that, that really is unfair cos i can borrow nikon d5100.
C'mon really.. animals, can't take that machine outside without my mother supervising..

I have an idea, this is just something that was once fun to me.
Like take a "rap verse".. doesn't need to be rap, but any song that you are likely to find karaoke on youtube, but not necessary.
Contestant puts in his own words, story, about just about anything, not a theme because they are really hard to do anyway.
If you're untalented like me one can write stupid things, and for voters would be also fun because they get to listen
songs with stupid lyrics and they have to sing or rap to it. When i try to do this it's really interesting and fun.

Emotions - Take a photo of an expression
Landmark - Photography again
Wish - Poetry

I thought of two more themes:

Childhood (could work for anything though writing or poetry may be the best fit)
Connection (any art style)

For connection, it could be a physical connection (e.g. Bridge) or an emotional one (e.g. Love, relationship)

 

[Purity of Magi]

I am not certain if there were contests in the past with these themes I will mention now, but this suddenly just popped up in my mind.

Time (Short story)
Patience/tranquility (Poem)
Your favorite character (Drawing)

Hm... I had actually a couple more theme suggestions in mind, but I forgot them atm lol. Will post it if they pop up in my mind again.

Ah yes, my other theme suggestions popped up in my mind again.

Sisters / best friends (avatar & signature). I do recall I saw a contest about brothers, so why not also about sisters or maybe best friends? There are some really nice characters out there that have such a strong relation.

Sleeping (photography). Not sure how I came up with this idea, but like.. it could be everything. An animal that sleeps or your pet, your friend(s), yourself perhaps? I mean, it is kinda funny yet cute and trollish, I guess. XD

I dunno if this has been suggested, but what's about this:

Symbol/representation (photography) - take a picture of something that represents you. It could be anything like your career, personality, passion, etc.

Health & Wellbeing Photography:
Participants submit a photograph depicting healthy eating, outdoor activities, Sports etc.

I got another idea, which I supposed it'll be a combination of drawing/story. It is based on some children's books in there are only pictures. There is no text at all so the readers infer what is going on based on the pictures.

I really like it! Reminds me of one of the Fairy Tail's manga chapter which consisted of only pictures and no texts.

Since it's going to be New Year soon, why don't we have a theme called "TIME"?!

I don't know what type of contest, so why don't we try what riki said above?

I have two other ideas:

Nightmare (drawing) - Draw something nightmarish. It could be a scary dream you had or a grotesque monster

Affection - Probably good around Valentine’s Day

Bought a book like this for my son a couple of weeks ago. He’s wanted to read it every day since. It’s a fantastic way of telling a story when done right. Could be really interesting to see what our great artists could do with it.

Maybe MH can have one? If it is possible, that is. Besides, our mascot would have a companion~
