I dont know about suicide, but the reason he died without activating Ars Magia is baceause the old fool stopped chanting. He had enough magic power. Gildarts said it.

Yes, I agree with you. But Mavis said "his magical power wasn't enough, Gildarts is fine" something like that. So, Mavis said one, Gildarts said another. Two different opinion. I use both in different debate so, both of them confirm that Ars Magia is not suicide spell. And I don't know where they found it

True, they both said different things, so its hard to determine who was right. But I will still go with Gildarts on this one. Mavis questioned if his magic wasn't enough, and then asumed that it was probably because of Gildarts. Cana also asked the same question as Mavis, but Gildarts said that it was because he saw something and stopped chanting. I dont know haha.

Ars Magia is a suicide spell. August says that he offers up his life right before casting it.

Mavis and Cana thought August ran out of magical power. Both were uncertain. Mavis thought that Gildarts had something to do with it. We know this is not true. Gildarts says that August didn't run out of magic, but simply stopped his chanting because August saw something. We as the reader actually see this happen: We know that August sees Mavis and stop chanting, just as Gildarts says.

There is no good reason that August would have died simply by running out of magical power, especially when its implied that he didn't really. August himself says that he offers up his life right before casting Ars Magia, and this is the most relevant piece of information. The final ruling is unchanged: Ars Magia is restricted because it is a suicide spell. Ars Magia starts breaking down August's body as soon as he starts trying to casts it. Whether or not he goes through with the attack, it will still end up taking his life.

Really? August vs God Serena? This isnt even a fight, there isnt a thing God Serena can do to win or even hurt August. Best God Serena can hope for is to run away and hide until August dies of old age.

God Serena would be ultimately useless because August can just copy and cancel his magic, like everybody else. So I agree with the majority about August winning.

If I were to guess, I'd say the battle would be very similar to Jellal vs August. One-sided. Not necessarily because August is stronger but because his magic is broken.
