Re: NBA thread

Cavs have to win ALL their home games if they want to even stand a chance against the Spurs, based on game one, I'm not very hopeful for Lebron winning his first title this year. (Then again I'm not really a Lebron fan).

I'm really looking foward to the Eurobasket 07 to start though, and Teo's decision on whether he'll go to Miami next season (or maybe Dallas, I doubt he'd go for any of the other teams) or not.. I've been waiting for years to see him face Nash in a game and I'm hoping I get a chance next season.

Re: NBA thread

Since the NBA play-offs 2007 finished (congrats Spurs), what about talking about the draft?

Who's your favourite? Who do you think will be the best rookie?

Re: NBA thread

We'll, Portland is blessed that they came up with the top pick. However, they've got a history of screwing up the draft...like passing on MJ for Sam Bowie back in 84.

Anyway, I'm disapointed that the Celts didn't manage to trade for Garnett. The deal would have sent Big Al Jefferson, the #5, Sebastian Telfair, Theo Ratliff and Wally Szczerbiak from Boston to Portland for KG and Troy Hudson.

Re: NBA thread

Yeah, Kobe has some legitimate complaints, but he's going about things the wrong way. He's got a bad rep as a teamate to begin with, and trashing Bynum isn't going to make him any fans. And taking his trade demands directly the media puts the Lakers in a tough spot, and actually hurts his chance of getting traded ($89 mill over 4 years isn't easy to move). He'll probably end up on an Eastern Conference team like Chicago.

Re: NBA thread

i imagine him working great with the bobcats. okafor for an agile bigman, gerald wallace as the great all arounder (kobe said he loved to play with artest, wallace is much better than artest). felton will be a great PG someday too. really, i think the bobcats are perfect. but there's MJ on the management, they'd both not gonna like it.

Re: NBA thread

Charlotte would be a good fit for Kobe. They've got an interesting mix of solid younger players and over the hill veterans. I think you're right about MJ and Kobe butting heads (Jordan probably hates what Kobe's been doing with the media). Plus, he'd probably have to give up both the #8 pick and Adam Morrison to land Kobe in NC.

Re: NBA thread

yeaaaah teh draft is coming... i dunno what's best for the blazers and sonics, but definitely oden and durant are franchise changers. portland can live with both oden and durant, but i dunno, for the sonics, they can be great with oden, but if durant is on the sonics, that's allen, lewis, and durant swarming for points, three big scorers doesnt usually work out well

Re: NBA thread

Draft's in a couple of days, huh? Personally, I think oden is the better bet out of the two. He's a true big man, and it's tough to find guys like him who can plug up the middle on D and still be an offenseive threat. Yeah, the guys in Seattle would need to give Durant some looks, if they wanted to win. Plus, with Raw Lew and Chris Wilcox at power forward, Durant may not be the best fit there (but they'll still take him). Who knows, maybe they'll trade the pick to the Celts?

Re: NBA thread

yep yep oden is a sure player, just like dwight howard. durant would excel in a bad team, seattle is definitely not for him. hmm... pierce and durant, pretty nice. gasol and durant, so-so. personally i want durant for the blazers

Re: NBA thread

Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen may be a great combination, but I can't see them playing with Paul Pierce. It's like this one needs to be the number one on the team and resolve all by himself, I hope there's no problem with his ego now he's not the team star :P

Re: NBA thread

Whats up damnz didnt know you were on here too. At the same time these guys are getting old and have been knocked out of the playoffs so many times i think they might be willing to set theyre egos aside and do whats best for the team.

Re: NBA thread

this stuff really works you know. look at the lakers' malone payton additions. they did suck at the seasons but they got serious and made it to the finals. altho pierce will most likely throw the balance off.

Re: NBA thread

Kobe + Gasol + (healthy) Baynem = *DUN DUN DUN* New Challenger Approaching!

I honestly think if Gasol plays like he tends to play in the European and World tournaments, the Lakers have an AMAZING shot at Kobe's 4th ring..

Re: NBA thread

I'm really happy to see Kobe playing a bit more like a team now that he has somebody to really rely on and capable to help him whenever he needs. Do the Lakers have possibilities for the ring? Meh, I'm not sure about it, but I hope they reach the conference finals and, who knows, maybe next year they pick up a great forward and they become a spectacular lineup again :P
