It is a shame he can't keep up a momentum since each chapter is at least filled with interesting content to keep people engaged but at the same time it just wets the lips and then they become chapped again so quickly. The whole mood being set up makes things so anxious cause it's that much closer to the faith of Guts and Caska, to seeing if Griffith is really just or if he is hiding a dark ideal and fooling everyone. Will Guts seek revenge or live normal, where could the story possibly end, how could it possibly end, it's just a very mysterious concept in terms of there are just so many ways the story can go, just wish it could move ahead faster lol.

In Miura's good years he used to release two volumes a year. And I hear he was quite stressed out because of that. When I started reading Berserk 4 or 5 years ago we used to have 2 chapters a month, and he would work like that for 4-5 chapters before taking a break that could go from a month to three. We used to be able to predict when he would resume writing the manga, but now it becomes harder and harder, especially after his last break that lasted for almost a year.
I expect him to make a comeback in the end of March but it's prolly more realistic to say April. If not it's prolly gonna be around July, unless he plans on taking another year long break
The manga is great but I simply cannot recommend it because of how there seems to be no end in sight.

2 Volumes a year is too much = Stress => Shorter life-span > Miura dies => Berserk with no ending.
1 Chapter a year is a joke = Not enough time => Not enough life-span > Miura dies => Berserk with no ending.

I think that regardless of what we think, if Miura is really serious about ending this manga, he will find the right balance. Maybe a schedule that doesn't look so grim. The current rate is really scaring the hell out of me.

If Miyura sensei has health issues and is taking a lot of breaks because of them, I would hope he is working on something like plot/story details that don't stress him as much as actually drawing all that awesome artwork. We might even be surprised to discover he has the entire final arc all ready to go... in case of the worst happening, heaven forbid! Now to get back to the current arc!

He does give interviews, but I don't think it was mentioned he had health issues. Besides the Japanese have a pretty long life expectancy,so I wouldn't be surprised if he could live up to 70-80 years(he's still young actually). So hopefully he will live that long and preferably have already finished the manga by then. Also let's hope he doesn't die like the author of Guin Saga from cancer at the age of 50. I hear Miura was inspired by Guin Saga and the story is unfinished, there's like 100 books or something. But someone is taking over and they will prolly finish it, so I wouldn't be surprised if Miura already had the end drawn or just made a script for it, and maybe his assistants could finish it in case the worse happened.

It's been "only" around four and half months, well in latest berserker standards it's something like week off in weekly series.
You see, from November 2012 , when ended the usual 1 volume per year release (around 9-12 chapters) we got only 5 new chapters....
It's a shame but you need to get used to it

This is getting a bit absurd though. I'm more concerned with seeing the next chapter than even thinking about when / if the manga will ever be finished.

I'm 31. I first read the manga in 2008. Good god, I was 25.

I'm also 31.

I started reading this manga in 1999 when I was 16, half a life time ago.

Well Miura has done nothing in the latest chapters to keep me looking forward to anything. Right now there's nothing I want to see resolved, for me Berserk kind of ended with the Golden Age arc (not like Miura could top that) and I can live with it, that's why I dropped the manga. Maybe at some point in the future, 30 years from now, I'll be able to read the whole thing. But the wait isn't worth it…

Imo, I think you should've said "put on hold" instead of "drop". because if you consider reading it when it's completed you didn't actually drop it.
I also think that the Golden Age arc was great, but the fact that I'm a sucker for RPG games, I liked the Berserker armor part as much as I did the Eclipse.
I see where you're coming from when you said that Miura cannot top the Golden Age part, but I wouldn't write him off that easily. He kept a manga alive for the longest time. I don't think that we've seen the best or last of him yet ^^

I guess I would really feel the same without my secret method lol. The thing is, and you'll probably find it weird, I read Berserk so many times. And with each reading, I feel more excited about what's going to happen next. So when I hear that a release is coming, I read the whole thing. You probably read it once or twice and then started the waiting game... That way, there will be no taste to the chapter and it'll feel disconnected from the rest because of the very long time you waited for it, and the very long one you're gonna wait again.

Feels a bit disappointing that after a one year + hiatus, we do not have at the least 5 chapters without a break. I try to stay away from Berserk, it's weird because at the same time I've stayed away from mangas overall. OP isn't very good right now, I'm even beginning to lose interest with banal weekly stuff Lol. Black Lagoon is giving no sign of life, it's more frustrating because BL hasn't got the big,constant fan base of Berserk, so people don't really care. I know there are literally tons of great seinens manga out there. it's like I don't want to deeply invest myself into a story except for the likes of Blame! or Biomega cause,you know hardcore SF & CyberPunk is my fit

Instead of Manga reads, I've been listenening to a lot of Retro Electro/SynthWave Music.

And holy shit there are a bunch of 25+ around here Generation 1989 Rules!!

Have you tried Blade of the Immortal? it's an awesome Seinen that is already done and completed.

As for Berserk, even the rumors on some die hard forums have stopped for a while now. I guess the last release dates and the damn long(est) hiatus made everyone stay back and relax.

Yeah a lot of us are born in 1989, the year Berserk started lol. Concerning the lack of Berserk chapters I think I just got used to it, and I'm planning on reading the whole thing again, especially my favorite parts. In the meantime I'm holding on by reading weekly mangas like OP, Magi, Nanatsu no Taizai, and occasionally seinen titles like Vagabond, Vinland Saga etc. Vagabond just resumed publication after being on a break for almost a year (just like Berserk). I don't know what's the deal with seinen authors but they tend to take really long breaks. But in Vagabond's case, we're prolly in the last arc so it makes sense that the author isn't rushing things and is actually taking his time and hyping the final battle. I don't exactly know how far we're in Berserk now but in before I heard that we were in 70% of the story, that was around the Sea God arc. Which means that there's only 30% left. Maybe that's the reason Miura is in no hurry to finish it .

well seinens take more time...because they are written to grasp the mature mind.
where shonens can do asspulls,contradict earlier content,etc,etc...

all we can do is appreciate his work so far,anticipate and be satisfied....
I for one don't want him to rush it and the story turns to shit.
believe it or not...I think he took this long break because of the last arc.
it was soft and predictable....the pirates were out of place to(to me atleast)...idk.
maybe,he took time to really get the story lined up...we should hope.

The whole magic/witches thing was kinda like an asspull for me. Sure the magical element was there from the beginning (Puck) but at the same time the witches are so powerful it got me wondering why they don't do anything against the apostles. Schierke is so powerful for just a kid, and even Farnese is impressive even though she just started training in magic. And I gotta admit I'm not fond of the Berserker armor either.
Finishing the manga after 25+ years isn't exactly rushing things. As long as Miura has an estimate of when he'll finish it(I'm sure he already had the ending written) I'm fine. I just hope I won't be a granny by then . Or worse dead.

I was born in '80. Wonder if that makes me an old man. Anyways Berserk is one of the slowest released series around. Downside of Muira's highly detailed, hand drawn, no assistaints style I guess. He probably knows where he wants to go, but he wouldn't be the first writer to die before finishing his work. The other downside is that the long time between chapters makes it feel even slower paced than it is.
