It's hard to know for sure with Miura. It's a possibility I guess, I'm curious about why he can't commit to any form of schedule.

Not trying to defend Miura for his erratic schedule, but considering that how difficult it is to work on a serialization and how mentally and physically taxing it can be to work on a single series, I guess he just need to take a lot of break somehow. Besides, he keeps making banks too, so good for him.

Well other than the obvious answer that he's tired, lately he's been taking very long breaks(one year hiatus) and not really releasing much material. My fear is that it could be something else, personal problems, or even health ones. There isn't much info about him I find, he doesn't give many interviews unlike some of the successful mangaka like Oda. He's pretty secretive I would say.
Well either way we can't do much about it, and lucky you you'll get to read everything in one go.

Sorry we're not David. And I don't think Miura himself has a set number of chapters in mind. He said in an interview that while he does know how it will end, it might take as long as it takes to finish it, so he doesn't have an idea about how long the series will be.

Don't hold me to this but I think he mention its 70% through and this was last year. So that means like 5 or 7 volumes more.

....he has one, it's called Studio Gaga.

Being the perfectionist he is, I doubt Miura would let them do all the heavy work, like some shonen authors do. He's more of the type to draw the bulk of the work himself, and let them do the non important stuff like the shading. I feel like every now and then we have this talk, it's getting really redundant.

I think I started berserk manga in 2007/08 too and that was around when Guts team with zodd in that fight in the sky.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet but the English dubs for Berserk: The Golden Age Arc 1 are now on Netflix and it was really well done. They kept many of the same voice actors from the original anime which thrilled me. Check it out!

Berserk Gets New Anime Project Featuring Guts as 'Black Swordsman'

The first 2016 issue of Hakusensha's Young Animal magazine (cover shown right) is announcing on Friday that a new anime adaptation project of Kentarou Miura's Berserk manga has been green-lit. NBC Universal will unveil the anime's first promotional video at its winter Comiket booth, which will run from December 29-31. The announcement did not note the format of the anime (TV, film, OAV, etc.).

Miura comments in the magazine that the anime project will depict Guts in his "Black Swordsman" appearance, which is only revealed in parts of the manga that go beyond any previously animated Berserk story, and is only briefly hinted at in the first and last episode of the 1997 television anime series.

The magazine also notes that the 1997 Berserk television anime series will get a newly priced Blu-ray Disc release with the 2012 HD remaster. The new boxset is slated for an April 20 release, and will cost 18,000 yen (about US$148).

In addition, Miura will put his Berserk manga on hiatus, with the next chapter coming in "around" summer next year. The manga will also then be published as an irregular series.

At least we know when he'll come back.

Here we go again. But at least we have an idea of when it will resume.

I hope it's a TV series, and not a movie.

I don't care about the new anime, but the next chapter will be released next summer ? Cool, it confirms that Miura can keep a rhythm, even if he wants to help the studio with some instructions.
