I don't care about the new anime, but the next chapter will be released next summer ? Cool, it confirms that Miura can keep a rhythm, even if he wants to help the studio with some instructions.

Yeah I think it's possible this break is tied to the new anime.Kinda wish they didn't make it if it meant having the manga go back to being on break...
The blackswordsman arc is my favorite arc, and it's about time it got adapted.I just hope it's a TV series, since the last movies were rather disappointing.
If it's a TV series it simply has more chances of being faithful to the source material.

I'm just super glad they're finally animating the Black swordsman parts. They put a lot of easter eggs in the OVAs from a couple years ago but they still left things out. Guts vs. Buscone for example, his sword never broke for Zodd to toss him his cleaver. They at least showed Skull Knight which was vitally important to the story so I'm glad they did that unlike the anime series. But they also left out the yeti apostle before the eclipse that guts fought. So yea I'm hyped, anything new Berserk is welcome to me.

As long as they aren't shoving everything into 24 episodes and they just continue to release episodes to make sure every detail is covered, I will agree that a TV series is a better route. But I also think there is a decent chance they will continue doing the OVAs. I actually liked the 3 they recently did despite some of the details missing or being off. The 1997 anime wasn't any better in that regard.

Judging from the artstyle on the official website.. it looks pretty similar with the CG artstyle that I dislike from the Golden Age movies. Hopefully not, that movie is underwhelming, although it's pretty cool.

Eh I think the 1997 TV series was more faithful .Including Puck and Skullknight doesn't make it more faithful imo, when the relationships between the characters were simply glanced over. Because of that, when the eclipse came we weren't really attached to the characters. The 1997 TV series allowed to portray those relationships, and we felt for the characters more, which made the eclipse a much more heartbreaking moment.That is why it is still to this day the most faithful adaptation, I don't give a fuck about Puck , SK maybe but you get my point.The movies skipped so many stuff that builds up to the finale(the eclipse), without it it simply wasn't a huge wtf moment. And don't get me started on the awful CGI, the battles, SK's introduction(seriously he was watching Guts and Caska having sex wtf).And that foreshadowing with Farnese which was nowhere in the manga.
Sure the movies look good, but they're no way near a faithful adaptation, they simply didn't capture the essence of the golden age arc, which in my eyes has a lot to do with the BotH and the relationship between the characters.The TV series did just that, and that is ultimately more important than including a few characters here and there.
So I would take a TV series anytime, but a movie no.

Eh, In the movies the essence and the nucleus of the story are still there, it's just the art style that is so off-putting for me. The classic one has a pretty terrible animation, nonetheless I agree that it's a better version in overall.

I also don't want this anime cover Golden Age again. That arc has been beaten to death.

It's too centered on Caska, Griffith and Guts. By the eclipse I simply didn't care as much about the rest of the BoTH dying because they weren't developed to begin with.

It won't be, the news mentions Miura saying that Guts will be in his "blackswordsman" version, so it's safe to say it will cover the black swordsman arc.

Yeah you'll prolly hate him for real, because when Berserk resumes the schedule will be irregular again and not monthly.:/

It has been pretty much his M.O. though, like he's releasing something regularly for 4-5 months, than goes hiatus for 6-12 months. At least this time we have approx. return date.

Yea I doubt they will do a full rehashing of the golden age, especially if they're following the same format. But if it is actually an episodic reboot, they may do it. I won't complain. The golden age is what really hooked me into the manga and it's what established the characters and made griffith one of the most relatable villains in manga history.

I liked the animation from the recent movies for the most part. Some parts looked a little too forced CG but for the most part it did the story justice and I enjoyed it. I would prefer a invested hand drawn version for sure though.

This is nothing new. Miura works in bursts. He will do a handful of chapter then go on hiatus for 6 months and then we'll be lucky if he does another handful. My suggestion to you is to get used to it because it isn't going to get better.

There isn't much hope to ever see a good Berserk adaptation. Storywise it doesn't have much chance of being completely faithful to the manga, and even in terms of animation I fear we'll never see something remotely close to doing the manga's art style justice. Since it's the black swordsman arc, the art style hasn't reached the very intricate level we've seen more recently. It was more manga-ish, so it would have been interesting to do it in 2D, but nope.Ironically that is my favorite period of the manga, even in terms of art style.

So the 1997 TV series will continue to be my favorite adaptation. I consider it to be the most faithful one too.
