Re: COME FOR A SCHWING: Cardboard Edition

thanx for the review:thumbs

so you both seen APES...i dug it,no doubt.
but,i just don't see how Ceasar is suppose to turn into the bloodthirsty simian tyrant he was in the past movies?
basically, the koba of this movie...pure hatred for humans....maybe his family will be slaughtered!!!
hopefully they redo the franchise entirely...and scratch out all previous films(start from scratch like Batman).ofc, keep these previous two as the starting point:XD

Re: COME FOR A SCHWING: Cardboard Edition

ofc I saw Apes... It's the movie I looked forward to the most in 2014 to watch at the cinema, besides Interstellar.

Re: COME FOR A SCHWING: Cardboard Edition

uh, it's pretty clear these movies are new projects dude... wtf

In the previous movie they were at another "reality" or whatever (where apes ruled), and when the guy (I believe Mark Wahlberg? Too lazy to check) came back to his reality/Earth we saw how Earth was basically our Earth but with apes in our place, like we saw it was an Apereham Lincoln etc in DC. It's obviously completely different from these two movies. This is a way more "real" approach.

yeah...i get that.
i'm just hoping they go that far...showing Ceasar ruling and a human from another reality shows up.
that would be a good tie in...no?

Re: COME FOR A SCHWING: Cardboard Edition

The Hobbit movies are garbage to me compared to the LOTR movies. They have almost no rewatch value, the sets are overly plastic looking and the acting is often bad. It's also way more cheesy than LOTR with all the side (filler) plots, made up characters etc. Jackson's attempt at making a Dward/Elf romance in the second movie almost made me sick. It's such a downgrade in overall quality from his previous movies, despite CGI having taken huge leaps since LOTR.

Keep in mind I'm a MASSIVE LOTR fan, so I'm not biased against Jackson or anything like that. I have read the book 3 times as a kid and watched the trilogy disgustingly many times, including the "making of" footage several times. Some parts of the Hobbit movies I really like, but to me Jackson has not managed to capture the book's essence in the way he captured LOTR. LOTR was a masterpiece, while the Hobbit looks average in comparison, and that's not because the book in itself is inferior (which it is), but because his adaptation hasn't been the same level of quality.

Why would they mix realities/space travel again....? There's no point. The point of the movie is to work the themes of freedom, free will, equality and respect for races. Humans were stupid in the movies and got what they deserved basically. It's a pretty dark movie from a human being's perspective.

I'll probably watch it around Christmas because then is when my mates come back home and we meet up. We're all big LOTR fans and all of us basically share the same opinion about the Hobbit movies. My best mate is pretty disappointed in the movies, even more than I am. He's arguably close to the same LOTR nerd I am. We both know the movie's lines by heart pretty much xDDD

oh, I'll give the Hobbit movies one thing though. The CGI of Smaug was fucking spectacular. The only thing I feel can challenge Apes for best CGI Oscar. Smaug was SO FUCKING WELL DONE HOLY SHIT. If Jakcson did one thing right in the Hobbit movies it was Smaug (obviously I dont know about the 3rd movie, but in the 2nd movie at least), as well as the Dwarf meeting/dinner at Bilbo's at the start of the first movie. That part was pretty much my favorite part of the book, and it was exactly like in the films. So well done. Also Gollum. Beast. That part was PERFECT as well. The movies obviously have very strong points but overall they are average compared to the LOTR movies sadly.

Wat....

Tim Burton's movie was a remake of the classic Planet of The Apes, starring Charlton Heston and written by Rod Serling, the mind behind The Twilight Zone. The whole concept of the original movie is that the main character doesn't even know he's on Earth until the final scene, one of the more classic moments in cinematic history.

Pls tell me you knew that? :nah

The newer movies are a re-imagining of the original series, with more of a focus on how the Earth got overtaken by apes, something that was kinda explored in a couple of the sequels of the original movie, but it's obvious this new series is set on showing it all from the very beginning, chronologically, and like you said, in a more "realistic" way. The original movies were kinda goofy and corny, with bad visual effects, by today's standards obviously.
