There's a lot of fucking stupid people, don't get me wrong. But the fact that these protests popped up overnight in multiple states all with seemingly the same origins is highly suspicious. One could say this kind of commotion would give Trump the opportunity to open the country earlier than most experts would recommend simply because "the people want it". But much of what is going on is not organic and fishy as hell.

There doesn't need to be any payment going on probably. Right-leaning conspiracy nuts think it's all a hoax designed to take away their rights. I've seen pictures of these protests and you see a lot of people wearing InfoWars shirts. Some hilljack in Arkansas heard from their cousin who is a nurse that the hospitals are all empty. Therefore the virus isn't real, etc.

The things he says don't classify him as dumb if he's not acting in good faith. There's evidence to suggest that it's mostly an act. The modern Alex Jones is a character that he's playing IMO. One that went from talking about more legitimate conspiracy theories and government cover-ups, into one that indulges some of the craziest conspiracies ever for profit. A person losing whatever scruples they once had is not the same as someone being stupid. Some people even think he's a CIA asset.

The left fact-checks their political opposition. They're not as willing when it's someone on their side of the ideological coin.

I'm not going to suggest they're equal offenders, but there are a ton of people who gobble up whatever the DNC spews out on a regular basis.

I meant when the source is from their own side, and I've seen more left wingers not believe something that went along with their thoughts without fact checking. At the very least, far more do it than the right.

Yeah I'm not gonna comment on how Stockholmers are handling this. Where I live, the vast majority are following restrictions set up and doing their utmost to socially distance themselves.

But yeah, Sweden has a radical approach to this and I'm just one of many trying to prove that it can be at least somewhat effective. But atm it's not looking good compared to many others. Just hope it'll prove to have been somewhat effective a year from now, when more accurate comparisons can be made.

(I did read a lot of first hand accounts saying that, because our state epidemiologist said he was "cautiously optimistic", many people in the big cities went haywire and basically started mingling like always. As if the pandemic was suddenly over. Even though the authorities are CONSTANTLY reminding us that we have to maintain all the measures put in place for this model to work.)

Still I have to agree with the part in the article I linked that the notion that "life goes on as usual in Sweden" is a myth, and foreign media are exaggerating for clicks. The picture they're trying to paint of this country is not the one I'm seeing living here.
