If you have already have informed about ANN's post about the ending of One Piece, don't be afraid about that, because it's going to end within 7 years. Yes, exactly on it's 30th anniversary.


Because the story's got 3 major arcs left: ELBAF, LAUGHTALE & MARIEGEOISE. However between the finale of the VS. FOUR OVERLORDS aka YONKOU SAGA and the Final saga (THE HOLYLAND SAGA) There will be or might be another timeskip for the Straw Hats.

Because Oda has already foreshadowed it in Chapter 941, that Luffy's going to disband the crew forever. And it's not going to be a real happy ending, because Luffy will suffer a bittersweet victory on Laughtale against Blackbeard, because he will lose Jinbei because Jinbei's going to be killed by Teach and Luffy will go berserk by Gear 5th.
And so and so forth...

And the 10 years would be a really good character development for Luffy and all the "Ex-strawhats" to be prepared against the world government and for the final war.

Which means that the Straw Hats will get what they wanted, but something will miss out of their lives. That's why I'm saying this, because One Piece is a MORAL STORY which makes a curved mirror into the real life, and without no dramatic and emotionally heated moment, the story will lose it's morality and it won't make any sense at all.

In every romantic pirate stories, ex. in Assassin's Creed 4, there was an emotional rollercoaster, where

Bartholomew Rogers has led Edward to the secret place and he's betrayed him, Which means that Edward has lost all of his friends, fleet members and crewmembers, and there was a huge timeskip after this, in the timeskip Edward was a heavy alcoholist, but he's managed to reunite the remaining "Edward Pirates".

So I assume that it would be awesome to see Luffy being drunk af and looking out of his head and he would be alone without his friends and see him training over these +10 years again to face with the World Gov. and so and so forth.

So what to you think about this 10-year-timeskip? would it make sense to you or wouldn't?

I don't think oda intends to do any significant timeskips at this point. mostly because luffy himself does not need them. Luffy is well on his way to take on yonko by himself... luffy's crewmates in turn could use a timeskip. As in, franky, brook, ussop, chopper, nami and robbin... they simply are nowhere near yonko executives. At a minimum they haven't evidenced being on their way there. Heck, out of them only ussop has evidenced haki... the bare minimum to be competitive against ok new world fighters. I suppose franky could simply not need it due to relying on technology rather than innate strength but that's not the case for the remaining strawhats. Also, whatever it is that oden knew was coming is happening pretty close to now so the manga extending for another 10 in story years sounds unlikely.

To link such a prediction to that color spread seems like a huge stretch.

I mean, even if the color spread truly foreshadowed something, that setting you described is incredibly unlikely. It goes against the whole feel One Piece has consistently mantained for decades.

No, the colorspread is indeed a huge foreshadowing, because if you see the STRAWHATS being drawn as hitchhikers, it means that, Luffy will disband the crew, in which it's not going to be a happy ending for the VS. 4 OVERLORDS SAGA. The story is going to end in 7 years, but the characters might be getting older by 10 years.

It's as valid as any other theory, but as a theory it really has nothing supporting it and it seems extremely unlikely, unlike what the thread's title suggests.

During the new world saga luffy has gone from doflamingo to cracker to katakuri in a extremely short time and getting rather substantial powerups on the way. And he probably will be the one to deal the final blow to kaido at least. Just from doflamingo to katakuri there is already the implication that luffy went through insane powerups and now he even has another one on his belt. Simply put, luffy is currently growing at an unprecedented pace. Now, the crew could be disbanded once luffy becomes PK or luffy might even die due to how he treats his body but overall luffy's doesn't actually need 10 years. Arguably he was already admiral level by the time he defeated katakuri...

Admiral?! LMAO. Admiral Level is like facing an Overlord (Yonkou), So Luffy is just Vice-Admiral level! So the biggest downfall for Luffy is going to be LAUGHTALE. Because as I saw every kind of Pirate Stories, like the Treasure Planet, there was a huge diappointment in the end of the story, yet it was having a great outcome!
So I really hope a dramatic turn towards Laughtale as the Booze of Binks song says:
