Sanji was suprised that his body was damaged at all. Not that it was damaged that bad. And when he learnt that Nami was attacked, hurt and then had to endure pain he felt that it was bad for her. Also after his body was hurt and his body was back quite some time passed and before he fought Vergo there was also a period of time. At the same time practically a first clean hit from Vergo cracked his leg. And Vergo wasn't even serious and wasn't using CoA Hardening Effect. While the same Vergo was using the same Hardening against Law all the way.

You should understand that I'm not trying to say that Sanji is weak. I think he is strong. Just not as strong as most of his fandom believe. And I also think that there is a difference in strength between him and Zoro even though it isn't that big, but still considerable. Not even talking about Luffy.

Even though they are called Monster Trio it doesn't mean that they are more or less at the same level. It just shows that they are the main fire power of the crew. But there is an obvious difference in power among the Trio.

Well it does seem to be a sort of a technique. The same way as Luffy's Red Hawk relates to another type of CoA which coats attack with fire. And that's why I see Luffy as a superior CoA user compared to Zoro. Even though Zoro has an affinity to CoA type of Haki, but it doesn't mean that only due to this he would be better than Luffy in its usage. :)
Red hawk is combination of gear 2 and haki.

But did I say something wrong?:)
It does relate to another type of CoA Haki, but it's also powered by Gear 2. It's the same way as one of Hancock's sisters who can use fire coating on her attacks due to Haki.

I think so... chances are he hasn't needed to use it yet, which is why we haven't seen it. Zoro is already an accomplished swordsman in his own right... he'll probably use CoA only to fight against logias. He did scare the shit out of Money with his intent. Makes me wonder if his CoA imbued sword could get past Luffy's CoA and wound him.

Oh, I don't remember that part. Or the result of Vergo using haki....
It never happened in manga but I just threw out the comparison about how weak is Luffy's defense against Hody. Anyway, Zoro using CoA is a given since he trained with Hawkeye who mastered it a long long time ago.

Well, about Hody. There are several different factors why Luffy's CoA wasn't that impressive against Hody's bite:
1. Hody was so drugged that he got an enormous physical strength compared even with the most of Luffy's previous opponents. He even stated himself that just with this much physical power he can be easily compared to some of Supernovas.
2. Hody was in water that gave him an additional strength, while Luffy on the other hand was in an inconvenient environment due to his bad resistance to water.
3. I seriously doubt any other crew member except for Francky would fair better than Luffy in terms of hardness.

His body was still damaged though, sure, I'll recede to the fact that we don't know to what degree(though Ussop and Nami mentioned it was pretty bad, then again, it is by their standards), but he was still hurt before that fight. Again, we've seen the Strawhats get back up after getting tons of damage and walk around as if it were nothing. The damage is still present. We saw it Law in the same arc. I have no doubt that Vergo wasn't serious in that fight, but I doubt Sanji was serious either. At least, not until he got his leg fractured.

I know, you wouldn't believe(maybe you would) the things I've seen from other Sanji fans. I'm not totally sold on their being a difference in Zoro's and Sanji's strength just yet, but that's just me.

Does anyone besides me wonder how powerful and infamous the Straw Hats will become once Jinbe joins?

There is nothin to wonder about. People will make faces and they will be a stronger crew, but nothing a Yonkou would have to fear for unless they have an alliance to support them.

Well, I just thought that with Jinbe joining them, the Straw Hats would become more powerful than ever. After all, you know that the crew has to grow stronger in order for Luffy to above Jinbe's level. Plus, I had a belief that considering Jinbe's reputation, Luffy would gain more infamy just from having him as a crewmember.

I wonder who is the 3rd strongest in the SH, Sanji or Jinbei?

I'm not sure about what Bartho is going to decide whether joining or stalking Luffy, and then Luffy doesn't know he has a new fan besides Hancock.

Either way, I think the Monster Trio is going to become a quartet.

Luffy is too far notorious to gain more infamy just because Jinbei joins, though. While he will be noted for having recruited Jinbei, he'll be far more known for his part in the Marineford War and Enies Lobby. I could see Jinbei either being the strongest or second strongest in the crew though.

I don't see how he'd be the strongest nor second unless you mean when he joins cuz I can agree with that. Not for long though as Zoro and Sanji have ambitions beyond Jinbei. By the time he joins Kaidou or Big Mam will be defeated too. I know Luffy wants to defeat all the Yonkou but as the worst generation to be competition I'd hope another alliance defeats at least Shanks or Big Mam. This way the story doesn't drag forever but we'll see.

Don't you know Oda's rules for adding members to the SH? No recruit is to be stronger than Luffy. That's the reason Oda hasn't added him yet, so Luffy can become stronger.

When was that rule established? If Jinbei is stronger than Luffy, then that'd serve as a motivation for Luffy to get even stronger.

I do mean when he joins. O_o How can he be the strongest or second strongest if he's not in the crew? I'm willing to bet Jinbei will be the clutch that save the Strawhats somehow, and possibly even keep Luffy fighting.

Not quite.
Jinbei joining the crew will be huge, remember that Jinbei joining means pretty much all Fish people and Mer people are now going to be allied with Monkey D Luffy.
Jinbei joining anybody, is huge news.
You're right in that he'll still be known for his Enies Lobby antics, being the only man in the world to enter Impel Down BY CHOICE and make it out alive etc.

JInbe joining the crew would definitely be something for the new world to fear. The guy is extremely powerful and usually strong crews around have only a handful of strong people to their name at most. Jinbe joining can upset whatever sort of balance there is around nowadays. Its like when crocodile was defeated, it was the event which triggered the events which led to the war. It was what got shanks to meet WB. A single strong person making a move won't have a powerful effect in the new world. Its in how it affects the powers around that the effects become huge. In this scenario jinbe would be joining a crew that already has 3 insanely strong people, that is not something that would go unnoticed by the world government. I don't think jinbe is actually joining the strawhats as a permanent member though.

I don't think anyone knows about Impel Down though, apart from the Marine and (former) prisoners who actually saw Luffy. I'm not even sure if anyone would share that information, especially the Marine given the kind of image it'd shatter.

But that's true, it means Luffy has the allegiance of the fishmen and merpeople. It will likely get the government to target the Strawhats even more considering Jinbei has joined and there's an alliance between the Hearts pirate and the Strawhats.

Why do you think that, if I may ask? Though, I can see Jinbei leaving after they finally reach Raftel, but I doubt it.

Also, I still think the Monster Trio are so close to each other in strength, if not nearly equal. From what I recall, nothing has proven otherwise. This isn't Dragon Ball where it's about speed and power level - Luffy was just a better match up for some opponents than Zoro or Sanji. Neither of them could survive Enel, though I'm not sure how they'd have fared against Caesar.

Hmm... I didn't think of that.
I naturally assumed that the World knew that Luffy, Crocodile, Ivankov & Co. catapulted from a ship straight out of Impel Down no?
Wasn't everything being filmed then? Or had Aokiji already frozen Buggy solid?

And yeah, Jinbei is a huge addition to any crew in One Piece. He's like an ambassador for his people as well as being able to lead troops there.

Dunno, for me at this point the idea of jinbe finally joining them permanently seems weird. His place in the crew, currently having a bounty higher than luffy's, the odds being against zoro and sanji breaking the 500 mil mark anytime soon or at all, his duties in fishman island and the fact that he has his own crew to look out for.... I have a hard time seeing just how he could walk in and join. He is a protector of fishman island and the only warrior there that can cause fear in successful new world pirates. Fishman island will eventually brandish the strawhat crew flag, wouldn't it make sense that he and his pirates remain at fishman island to take care of luffy's turf? If jinbe leaves, who would be a deterrent to someone just attack the island? Without jinbe there are plenty of monsters out there that could walk into the island and take it over in a matter of days or even less.

Dunno, I would argue zoro or sanji would have been better matchups against ceasar or hody so far. Well, hodi was weak so its not really an issue however when it comes to the underwater fight sanji or zoro would have had a significantly easier time due to their ability to swim. Sanji in particular would have been the best choice with his flame based attacks and his blue walk. He would have most likely even been faster than hodi underwater. As for ceasar, I would think sanji would have been more suited to fight him due to his air walk. And his fire would have actually stopped a few of ceasar's attack before they ever reached him. Thinking about it zoro wouldn't have had any particular advantage against ceasar. Perhaps just being a tad more serious when fighting would have made the difference though.
