Re: DGM Hang Out Thread - Part 1

Since DGM won't have a chapter this month (and maybe next month), the Hiatus thread is now opened.

Re: DGM Hang Out Thread - Part 1

It says there's no DGM in the current issue (and apologies for that) AND that it's unknown when there will be a new DGM chapter. (In other words, they don't know if DGM will appear in the next issue or the one after that etc.)
Can you please translate all of it? I know it's hard because a lot of kanji was missin but I really want to know exactly what it said

Re: DGM Hang Out Thread - Part 1

^_^ Quite understandable because you're not a big fan of mecha anime. Neither am I, however, I don't judge an anime by how the characters and designs look. I just judge it by a story. The story carries the most weight compared to the animation and everything else. The art may look generic, which is expected of most mecha anime (esp. from Sunrise), but it's what's inside the art that counts the most. I don't look for anything that's "pretty". So, like any unknown piece of information, I just simply view it without much input on it.

Since Hoshino worked on it, I'm gonna give it a shot. Since we don't know when she'll continue DGM (for at least, 2 months), it's better to do something than just sit there and be all mopey/complaining about a lack of DGM. Furthermore, I have other manga series that I'm following so DGM's just one of those that requires extra patience. (And one of these manga series happens to be bi-monthly. HEH.) I'm okay being one of the more positive patient people in this forum. :) All good things come to those who wait, so wait, I shall. I'd rather have a story than no story at all. If she needs this amount of time to finish up the character designs and a possible Miracle Jump one-shot, then, so be it. She'll be back for sure, like a hero who went on a grand epic adventure....

Capricorn, I recommend you build up a huge mega manga (and anime) reading list. That way, you won't be strained over Hoshino's irregular release structure. Time really goes by fast when you don't wait/worry for something. ;) Let time fix itself. (Millennium Earl not included.)

The JumpSQ note is the closest we'll get to an official announcement of an unstated hiatus. The 2ch poster, Bumi-chan, said this issue and the next one. So, I'll trust his/her words for the most part. At least, until the anime (and MJ cover art) comes out. Then, we'll see.
I actually do have a huge anime list, its just that I find myself in a really strange dilemma as it concerns my top favorite current ongoing series. They all suffer from some external problems (with the exception of shingeki no kyojin). To top it all off, d gray man just so happens to be a personal fave. You're right though, perhaps I should try finishing up some really good titles that I didn't get to finish (curse you school).
I really hope this manga does well, I just think its so unfair that this has to happen to her of all people. Oh well back to the drawing board.

Re: DGM Hang Out Thread - Part 1

Damn, it's a real shame that there won't be a chapter this month. DGM's the only manga I follow faithfully and my personal favourite (read: obsession). But I still have faith that Hoshino truly cares for her fans and would put out more pages if she possibly could. Guess I'm a bit less jaded that some of you guys, but I completely understand your frustration.

Thanks for the translation, Verd!

brb dying internally.

Just kidding no i'm not. Here is to hoping that Hoshino is all okay uwu. Like I've said before, she really should take as much time as she needs to recover or whatever, because she is only human, after all.

I'm trying to stay as patient as possible, because it'll be worth it in the end~

I'd love to take a shot at this, myself, as a continuous form of practice, but I'm going to sleep after this. I'm sure Verd (or any of our other great translators) can hopefully pitch in.

(In my humble opinion, what Verd gave all of us is pretty much the gist of it. ^-^)

I actually do have a huge anime list, its just that I find myself in a really strange dilemma as it concerns my top favorite current ongoing series. I see. DGM is also a personal fave, but I always leave room open for other manga to follow. It's a good thing that there are other stories going on right now, and new ones keep popping up once in awhile. Which reminds me, the spring anime season is coming up so you may find something interesting to watch when they show up. :) Don't lose hope at any cost. You definitely should check out manga/anime that you haven't finished yet, and try to discover ones you never read/watched before. There's not much we can do to help Hoshino except to wait patiently. (Looking forward to buying #24 when Viz cranks it out.)

Furthermore, school will DEFINITELY eat up your time if you're a super hardworking student. ;)

This is all you really have to know out of this blog: 5月2日(木)のラインナップにようやく『D.Gray-man 24』が登場しました。

Which is related to what non-chan said, except, giving us a more specific date. May 2nd.

Literal translation of above: Finally, "D.Gray-Man 24" made an appearance in the 5/2 line-up.

The blogger made a reference to this link: http://www.s-manga.net/newcomic/future/ -- This shows us the current release line-up up to May 2nd. From what we've gotten so far from Hoshino, I think she has enough chapters to get that one thru. Gotta check back later and count the page numbers... Edit: Oh right. That means she would also have to make the front and back covers for #24. Plus, make any last minute art changes to any of the chapters. That's one more additional task for her to do on top of the two other tasks given to her before going back to normal routine. She's one busy lady. #_#

Sorry, but just reading this makes me cringe. It's disrespectful to all the other manga-ka who try their best to please their fans by working on movies, the anime, drawing volume covers and magazine color pages, correcting mistakes for the volume and so on. All that while publishing their manga weekly.

This hiatus makes dropping DGM easier. Really, I used to love this manga.

Re: DGM Hang Out Thread - Part 1

Aw...no new chapter again. This is really sad for me, especially at the same time having face some difficulties and problems with my own works.T_T
At least we got info on vol 25, hopefully it is release on time.
Another month or two will past super fast again. T_T
Hopefully everything gets fine in the future for Hoshino sensei.
See ya all again next month. Gonna stay positive.

Re: DGM Hang Out Thread - Part 1

Even if there isn't a real monthly update anymore I still enjoy DGM a lot by rereading it and by reading/writing fanfiction. It helps pass the time immensly and sometimes you'd be surprised what you can find on ff.net.
I must admit though that I also fear that there might be a big hiatus coming again. But I will not abandon the series just like that. After all when I read DGM for the first time I was all like: "What the heck?" :8C

And before I knew it I was totally engrossed in this story. But you know, I know what it feels like when your health is completely deteriorating and you still try your hardest at doing everything you're expected to do. The pressure is immense and it does not hep your situation any. I'd rather go with Hoshino taking an extended rest instead of working herself to 'death'.

Until everything is back to normal we can still exchange theories about everything that's going on. =D

Re: DGM Hang Out Thread - Part 1

Oh well that's unfortunate but, when it comes to DGM, I have leaned to be patient and lenient to an extent because of Hoshino's chronic condition. It seems she might have pushed herself a bit much with all the other work she did recently, kinda wish she'd spared some time for the chapter but oh well.

Thanks to TGirl for translation the note, it's nice for them to state something officially for once XD

Re: DGM Hang Out Thread - Part 1

^ You're welcome, Sensei. Yeah, other than the note that verd translated, it's good to see the other official piece of news. We still have something to look forward to that's DGM related with a release date.

Sorry, but just reading this makes me cringe. In what way was it disrespectful? I'm being honest here saying she's busy, because she's doing all of that on top of dealing with an arthritis wrist. No other mangaka, to my knowledge, has arthritis. Especially, the weekly ones. (And among all current working mangaka, I'd say Hoshino is probably one of the most busiest one of them all, even if she's not doing her normal DGM release routine. ;) )

Also, you have to remember that mangaka are human. Sure, they exist to give fans some entertainment, but they're also doing their jobs dutifully. :) They don't exist just to please you, but also me and everyone else out there. So, if you do drop DGM, that's fine. It's your choice. I'm on the patient reader side, and will definitely support Hoshino in whatever she has to do to get it done. ^___^ Yep.

Well said! I'd say its more disrespectful to assume that Hoshino isn't working her hardest.

Random-noob-question here...

Does the "hiatus rumors" means that there will be no new DGM chapter for the month of March?
I'm kinda left out with the updates here in the forum... sorry :-_-

Re: DGM Hang Out Thread - Part 1

The rumors only exist in Vietnam and they started from the picture posted a while ago. The picture turns out to be an apology from JSQ and an announcement that DGM new chapter's day of release will be come unpredictable even for them (as it has always been) according to verduister, however.

I think nobody here is being disrespectful at all, we all love Hoshinos work or we wouldn't be reading/posting on this forum. There is a clear difference in expectations though. And while some may feel annoyed by the lack of release others may simply accept it. However i feel there is concern, when a mangaka doesn't deliver its a serious issue for the publisher no matter how much you like someone or how good the previous work was. Its happened before that artists get dropped due to lack of ratings or other issues God knows what.

So we as a fan-base cant be concerned if something bad will happen to her work at Jump ?

Also for those that might like > my collection of DGM :D

Re: DGM Hang Out Thread - Part 1

I think it's probably safe to assume there are many mangaka with arthritic hands/fingers or other hand problems like carpal tunnel syndrome. Not to say her condition isn't a big deal, but it's common sense to assume that plenty of mangaka have similar repetitive strain injuries due to their work.
