It becomes easier when you have something else. I got into comics recently, and the release dates are always met. Heck, there's times with it's DGM chapter-month and I forgot. lol So best to find a comic series, or other manga to really get into. For your own sanity.
Yes in fact I did just that. Back in 2008-2009 I was so absorbed in dgm. Then the hiatus started happening. It was torture at first, but then I forced myself to find interest in other manga, books, etc and eventually moved on. For near a decade I managed to almost forget about dgm and almost consider it a lost cause. Almost. For some reason deep down I couldn't completely forget dgm and how unique and captivating it was. I made sure I didn't get too invested when a new chapter came out and was successful that old interest didn't catch.
Only recently did I give in and reread the series and let my interest re-kindle. Is it a good or bad thing? I don't know. Will the series ever last long enough to reach it's natural end? Or will it terminate prematurely? I don't know. However, I do think I've gained a new skill of patience with dgm and other hiatus-prone manga so it won't be so bad this time around I think...
I follow this forum somewhat and notice you guys go into a 3-month hibernation of sorts then come back alive and well when a new chapter comes out. Probably to keep the sanity, you must distance yourself from dgm and go into 'hibernation'.
