Spoiler: heavy words/ranting and similar stuff

First of all, here are minimum requirements for an original work to have more than 1 cour anime adaption:

-The original work has enough material
-The assigned studio either big or has enough budget if they are not Shaft/Kyoani (these two basically do whatever they want)

D.Gray-man Hallow fails to meet both requirements.

Second, filler won't do any justice. They are the worse things ever happened to the previous anime. Hoshino even never wanted the anime to continue due to all those change in the previous anime until she got convinced (source: Kosuge's interview). If the budget isn't that much to begin with (which has been clearly shown in the cast), it'd better be spent on taking care of the quality.

Third, Madoka is just 12 episodes at first and it's a masterpiece, meanwhile Fate UBW has serious pacing problems due to being 2 cours and you don't want the same thing happened to Sousei no Onmyouji happens to DGMH. 13 episodes is fine if the director is competent enough and D.Gray-man Hallow has that covered by Hoshino.

Final, more than half of those who is bitching about the 1 cour never think of buying BD/DVD even though THAT's one of the most crucial condition to get a series new adaption (though that's not really the case with DGM)

Though I also prefer two cours, this is understandable

Do you have a link, or know where I could find that interview for Hoshino not caring for the last anime? I could use that in some of my writings regarding the last anime and how unfaithful (and bad) it was compared to the source material.

In any case, Hoshino being involved may help the anime. I am disappointed it's only 1 cour. But I can see why now. Maybe they'll pick it back of years later when the manga is finally done. After all, plenty didn't think we'd even get this (Hallow)

I only have limited anime experience. Elfen Lied and Blood+ were both short anime. And both deviated from the manga hugely. The latter was still good in a different way. The former just butchered everything and sucked. But that creator mentioned that he chose to leave out some manga stuff because he didn't like it -which included a character.

Rowling said, not everyone gets a long drawn out death with music and final requests, especially in war. In the anime, they tried to make Anita's death sadder by adding on to the scene, and all it succeeded in was making her death all too obvious, before the send-off -which also makes Lenalee's shock and breakdown seem stupid -because it was obvious beforehand.

And of course the butchering of the characters. Someone I spoke to who mentioned the anime ruined all the characters. I know the screwed up Cross. I haven't even seen all of the anime. But saw enough to see it sucked. lol

But I think Hallow already seems better than last anime. I would rather have a short anime with Hoshino's approval than a somewhat lengthy one that contradicts, and makes unneeded changes to, source material that even the author hated. D.Gray-Man 2006-2008 is another one that can go on the list of Disowned Adaptations.

Maybe we'll get more if this is received well enough, plus Hoshino has had time to do more chapters.

She didn't say it herself. The staff did. It was somewhere in March.
They also said that she got annoyed by how the previous anime used black for Allen's arm

The poster indicates Cross will be in the anime, and his hug with Allen was shown in the teaser. But odd he's a character who hasn't been given a VA yet apparently. So, Lord knows.

Where'd you find it? Any time I see the cast list, it's the same ones.

But, if so, he got a promotion lol He was Kazekiri in the last DGM anime. I had to look and see who that was, because the name was anime-only. The character was unnamed in the manga.

It is on the the official website and saw it on the 'Cast' part but he isn't listed on the 'Characters' part, probably he won't be appearing much in this season.

Had to search up who Kazekiri is, it is the Akuma in Rewinding Town and he also voiced an Order member lol look at that promotion

I think he'll only be in 1 episode. Possibly for that talk with Allen, and his unfortunate mishap. But I only assume since we saw that panel in the teaser. All of that may run to just 1 episode, since we only have 13. So naturally, he won't be around long, especially at the expense of the main cast's face-time - Lavi, Kanda, Allen, and Lenalee.

And yeah, the VA for him doesn't seem to do much work. Looking at his IMDB page, he doesn't have too many credits. Some video-games, extras in shows. I think his biggest role was Keith in Attack on Titan. But he did sound good there.

He speaks in the message. But given anime length, that may be a scene that won't get shown. Or may be shown, really heard, in passing while something else is happening -may not be Allen sitting and talking to Link. There may be a purge where Hoshino doesn't mind some things being skipped., depending on what else needs to be covered.

But just theorizing, as I am nowhere near an expert.

Well I heard someone mention that Funi did this beforel. So it apparently isn't a new thing.

And since it's been quite a few years, I guess they figured any dub-watchers will have just gone ahead and watched the subbed version by now. So they're just going to continue on to DGMH.
