This scene was shown with a faded out bit of Doflamingo's eyes finally shown in color.
His eye shape is about the same as his sunglasses but only shorter with a dark pupil. We can only hope "this week's" chapter can answer most of this (without the color ofc).

@Modoki, you posted that pic but it seems you're getting it wrong. That's not where his eye is, it a horizontal line... Like the type of line that is defined when your eyelids are closed tightly. This makes it look more likely that he's blind!

He just have normal eyes, with normal eyesight of 20/20 and the shades only serves as his symbol as a One Piece character. Period!

I think, Doflamingo has been blind this whole time. Maybe that's why, he uses strings so well.

he is not blind, if he was he wouldn't have been able to see the flare Law used back when he was going to PH, nor would he be able to read books like we have seen him do

He's probably blind in one eye and injured, there's no other reason for it to be hidden. I suspect being blind in one eye is a device Oda is going to use to draw parallels between Doflamingo and Fujitora; one being blind and seeing more while the other views the world from a one point of view perspective that's not subject to change.

Fujitora sees the SHs as good people despite being Pirates and knowing their reputation for destruction which he brings up; Doflamingo sees Bellamy as trash from the beginning and even after proving himself to be loyal and dedicated, he's still trash in his eye(s).

I say he has normal eyes like anyone else, but his glasses were used as a kind of protection. Tenryuubito have these weird astronaut like suits and fish glasses on their heads to protect themselves and not breath the same air like the commoners. Doflamingo, being the son of a Tenryuubito, didn't want to defile his eyes with the same view as the normal people and when he left Mariejois with his family this was everything he had left which reminded him of his former life and his status as a Tenryuubito, his eyes which never (except when he and his family were attacked by the normal people and they took his glasses) saw the world the same way everyone else did and which were protected by his glasses.

This might be a tad absurd, but you pointed out something interesting. If his glasses actually rob him off his vision or block his view rather, would explain how he could look (or not look) at Trebol and accept him as family? Trebol is easily the most disgusting character around, lol.

Perhaps it's because he didn't want to accept reality he turned a blind eye to the world and he is living in a fantasy world created by his delusions of reality. It would be quite the twist if he intentionally chose to be blind and those glasses seem pretty heavy for them to make a "clang!" noise as if they're made of metal.

What if Doflamingo was used by Trebol/Diamante/Pica/Vergo ? They could have seen potential in him, and used him since childhood.

Maybe the glasses are cursed ?

Doflamingo had the conqueror Haki, and the executives knelt down to him as a child. So I really doubt Doflamingo was being used.
