I guess it was okay for a starter. Very generic and predictable, but atleast the setting feels fresh - been a while since space adventures were in in shonen manga. The formula works as always.

Nakama power-ups and softcover ****** panels. Strong mysterious orphan with a funny personality quirk. Mysterious mentor. A goal. Outgoing curvy girl with attitude and vulnerability. Cute mascot character.

Mashima is essentially doing the same thing for the 3rd time, so he pound to be pretty good at it already. I'm most likely bored and dropping this within the first year.

Ah what a time to be alive. To be blessed with yet another of Mashima-samas brilliant Manga.

This is very interesting so far but I’m still gonna be cautious on whether it’ll be FT BS 2.0. I’m seeing too much power of friendship going on up here. I’m really liking Rebecca, getting a lot of Lucy vibes with a combination of Natsu also. Really hope she too got some power instead of piloting a ship.

Was this first chapter impressive in any way? No.
Is the foundation of the story particularly interesting? No.
Will I continue to give it a shot? Yes.

Aside from the criminally underutilized setting/style (space+steampunkish), this doesn't seem to have much going for it for me.

Alright, where to start,that was a pretty entertaining first chapter, for what its worth. The similar art style is a little......unoriginal. Seriously, this panel has definitely been in Fairy Tail before:

Pretty sure Natsu and Gray have made this angry face before in the series, but moving on.
That Kingdom Rebecca was in (Granbell) reminded me of Dressrosa from One Piece....A LOT. The concept with toys and humans especially. I was a little surprised that was all an act to get Shiki to live, I was genuinely convinced the King was evil (He actually made for a pretty good first villain). But I get the feeling this isn't the last we'll see of those puppets. Especially Gowther @Demonspeed

I get the feeling the Demon King (That is the guy who was with Shiki in the beginning of the story) pulled some Griffith shenanigans and sacrificed his friends to become the Demon King. I wouldnt be surprised if hes the reason the Cosmos is ruined, so he basically wants Shiki to right his wrongs.

Maybe Rebecca has some kind of power to manipulate technology or some kind of energy power.

Natsu was looking for Igneel

Yes, Natsu's goal was to look for Igneel, but it was more pushed to the side following the first chapter, and nothing he did across the entire series to actually advance himself towards that goal ever brought him closer to the truth of where Igneel was until Igneel himself decided to come out. Basically, the accomplishment of Natsu's goal was handed to him on a silver platter.

Don't know if want it to be Erza. I'm still inclined to believe she's taking Sieg Hart/Jellal's place as this series' resident new character with a familiar design.

I wouldn't be so shocked if Mashima decided to bring back some of those robots later on, I mean, that pumpkin kid and the Skull Robot appears in the color pague along with the other characters, so they may come back...

also this is Mashima, he loves to do things like that.

Well not only reminds me of Cowboy Bebop but of Kingdom Hearts and Star Ocean. Also I hope that they travel to a desert planet similar to to planet Gunsmoke from Trigun and some kind of ocean world. Maybe the big plot twist will reveal that Shiki is some kind of android but besides that I wonder what’s Rebecca’s past will be like.

Erza is very much like Nel from SO3. It had a One Piece feel and I thought it was more whimsical than other series.

I liked this first episode

Although related by the creator, Shiki and Natsu have different things, Shili seems more empathetic to me, since he showed interest in Rebecca for being who he is, while Natsu was a bit more worthy, just like Shiki is a good mechanic, what gives his abilities a plus, since he is not limited to the fighter's stereotype, he imagined that this will be important in the future.

Rebecca in advance I fell great, the girl agreed at the time the vivacity of Elie with the intelligence of Lucy and some of the innocence of Juvia, I feel that the fact of being a kind of youtuber is a nod to Lucy was a reporter and novelist, the girl looks like it's weapons to take and I imagined that in the next we'll see something of her background.

The new Happy does not look like the original, not only in the change of color of the tip of the tail, but in that it does not look like a king of trolling like the previous one, it seems calmer.

The part of the robots was quite emotional, they deceived Shiki so that he will travel outside and know the universe so they knew that his expiration was coming.

The devil King thing makes me think that the shots of the plot will go there.

Something I like is that you see that they are going to what they are going.

It's still too early to call Rebecca useless, she's a youtuber and she has a spaceship, do not you think she could be a great pilot and be the one to take them from one place to another or even her ship to serve her for combat?

Shiki just got a dream, but it seems to combine a bit of the way to venture to a dream like Natsu, or less bound and a bit of the Hero's Path that Natsu took.

I still feel that we should wait before defining something

I actually thought Shiki looked like Rogue with long hair. Also I haven’t played Star Ocean 3 in years so I forgot who Nel was until I looked her up but I see your point. Also do you think the Erza look a like will be a villain in the series or not.

It's too soon to say who a villain is. If they do a crossover is possible Natsu is the demon king. (Or was he a robot?)
