Elizabeth brainwashing Meliodas implies:

A) Their love isn't authentic

B) Elizabeth is powerful enough to brainwash the future Demon King to the point of betrayal and 3000 years of love. Guessing you don't like this option since it suggests that Elizabeth's magic is powerful enough to have a lasting impact on Meliodas.

C) Would undermine the relationship and impact of their relationship which nullifies a lot of the plot points. The whole Elizabeth vs Meliodas controversery in this war would be redundant.
When did I ever say it was Elizabeth who performed the brainwashing?

Maybe the gods told her before they cursed them, but after Meliodas died.

Which means Godess Eli survived Mel!
Eli > Mel confirmed :cheez

Seriously I do think maybe the Gods explained it to her and she died after Meliodas but
1) it was not AM Mel
2) The Gods obviously weren't going all out so they could take as long as they wanted to punish their children and therefore her surviving longer than Mel though being less strong than him is not a plothole and could have actually happend

Meliodas being brainwashed makes a lot of sense. AM Meliodas shouldnt be able to feel anything at all, even after literally thousands of years of history with Elizabeth his love for her is completely gone, so how did he originally fall in love with Elizabeth as a stranger? Doesnt make sense, perhaps Mel really was brainwashed into loving Elizabeth to start a war, or preventing a new demon king or something

This is Nakaba. He uses romance in the plot all the time. Yeah AM Meliodas brainwashed would make sense, but remember thatr Nakaba made Elaine's wings grow becuase of love for example, Meliodas having emotions in the past thanks for falling in love makes a lot of sense in a manga like this. He falling in love shouldn't really be a surprise at this point
Also, TC Meliodas showed to think and feel that the war didn't make any sense, there's a flashback of Meliodas 3000 years ago saying that Zeldris is his beloved brother and wanted to help him. All of that come from emotions, do you all really think that's brainwashing? That would make the main character we know a fake personality, Nakaba showed us that his emotions are real and are in Purgatory in a pshychal form. Meliodas feelings are real, he isn't an emotionless person and can think/feel in his own wish.
Brainwash would take an entire character to trah.

Makes sense, except it doesn't explain how she knew that she was even going to die after awakening her memories, and when.

Connected the dots would mean Elizabeth is 900 IQ since I'm pretty sure none predicted that she would did after 3 days :cheez
It's all part of a scheme by the Supreme Deity.

AM Meliodas is an evil piece of shit, we know this, even the commandments were terrified of him, and even when faced with the love of his 3000+ year life, he felt nothing, a man like that suddenly falling in love with the enemy makes no sense. Sure, Nakaba loves a good lovestory, but he also loves big reveals and Mel being brainwashed would certainly be one.
Mel was still with Elizabeth 3000 years ago, his feelings for Zel could have come afterwards. As for the Mel we know being a fake, that'd make a good twist, i'd enjoy it personally. Mel's emotions existing separately in physical form just makes his "emotions" seem that much more mystical and unnatural.

There's no way Meliodas was brainwashed.

I’m going with either nakabas plot or there’s another explanation. I just don’t see how she connected the dots or anticipated being cursed.

they died at the same time. The attack and damage they suffered make one living beyond the other impossible.

All part of the SD plan.

Because the manga's entire plot would crumble if it were so. The focus is on Meliodas and Elizabeth's unyielding spirit concerning their love despite living in despair for 3,000 years.

The plots focus has only been on their love since around chapter 200, its not like the whole series hinges on it.

Even if the brainwashing turned into real love just like the legend of tristan?

Chapter 1. A focus, a main focus, since chapter 1

Not really, from chapter one i got a medieval world setting, super powered knights, a crazy powerful MC, 6 other hype characters i was looking forward to seeing and a crazy adventure on a big pig to find them. Of course i also saw a hint of affection between the MC and the obvious heroine, but its certainly not why i stuck with the series and its certainly not what i expected the series to revolve around.
Dont tell me you picked up this series because you thought it was a love story and that the story would revolve around love?

The series has grown well beyond their love.
Care to explain. It grew more defined as more chapters came out. And this in no way contradicts my statement. It was a foundation for quite the significant chunk of plot events. So what was your point? If you don’t mind my asking.

I still don't really know about that legend, would you tell me the source of this? I'm curious.
Also, even if this manga is based on the legend of King Arthur, most of the plots of the manga are from Nakaba, not everything is from the legend itself.
Brainwashing or not, I'm 100% the current love between Meliodas and Elizabeth isn't fake.

Was your statement. Sorry if I may have confused, as I coined the word “love” into “relationship.” It was a foundation for a very large part of story events and actions and well more pointedly relevant and significant than what I took your statement to mean.

Motives for reading a story huh. Yeah that very much serves to influence your opinions and interest in a story yes? Like how this is combat heavy and those characters that don’t conform are frowned upon. Why does your question seem to imply that if my reason for reading the story is different than yours, it would be pitiful? What if I was looking for a good action with romance? What if I was looking for a story I thought had an interesting plot? What if I was curious about the plot? What if I just happened to stumble upon it out of boredom? Why do you think I should be interested enough to keep reading?

Out of curiosity what’s with the general consensus that romance sucks?

There are multple version like many other legends. But the basics is that Tristan while transporting a princess from another land to marry a king are charmed to fall in love with the princess and her him. Their affair continues into the marriage and after the hex has worn off, the king refuses to believe such a honorable and fair knight as tristan would do such a thing with his queen, but the nobility know otherwise. Long story short Arthur is forced to send Lancelot to slay Tristan to stop the war caused by the affair, the lady dies defending tristan and tristan fight Lancelot to the death. They are then buried together or for the rising sea to come and wash away their grave and it's marker. Meaning there is no longer a sign of their love and the blood war it caused.

you see the similarities here?
