I disagree,
in chapter 42, Kijima says that he works with Kirio because he was compelled by Enigma power so he did it against his will
Also he later says, "If I am not able to stop the chain, at least I had to protect them". And his way to protect them is to prevent them to complete the E-test

hm right, though in the end he still wants to break the chain. He just succumbed to his own self-conscious feelings of being incompetent, so he didn't feel he'd be able to do it.

Thanks for clearing all of that up guys, I appreciate it :). These last developments have been a little strange, but nonetheless I'm still excited to see what comes next!

Chapter 43 is up: http://reader.cxcscans.co.cc/reader/read/enigma/en/0/43/page/1

This was a pretty light one after all the revelations we;ve been getting lately. It's nice to see that everyone more or less got their wishes granted, though obviously the plot demands that Moto can;t get rid of his yet.

I was sort of hoping Sumio;s mother would have been a bit more informed on the whole mystery with the skull but then I guess it would have killed some of the fun for later on if she did. Looks like Sumio's missing dad has all the answers as expected.

Wasn;t expecting the "enemy" to show up in town so soon though, nor was I expecting Sumio to immediately do the smart thing and try to wipe the skull out of existance with his first wish. My guess though is that the skull either won;t be able to grant the wish, or it'll go horribly right and complicate matters with the enemy even further.

I do wonder what Kijima saw though...

I love how smart all of the characters are. In Inuyasha it took Kagome 56 volumes to realize that wishing the Shikon no Tama out of existence was the smartest thing to do. Sumio tried that right off of the bat. But I honestly doubt that it will work. It's too convenient. However, Sakaki had to do this, or else there would be a glaring plot hole.

I doubt Kijima is making it out of here alive. As for the thing that looks like Sadako, I hope it's not Sumio's father. That's waaaay too predictable. As soon as it was mentioned that Sumio's father had mysteriously disappeared (Chapter 1), I thought that he was going to be the antagonist.

I don't think Sumio's father is going to be the enemy since it looks like he was helping him survive, if he wanted the skull he could have taken it from Sumio after he left Shigure at her house.

Chapter 44... Sakaki is trying really hard to keep things interesting, isn't she? There hasn't been much of a breather at all after the e-test arc.

I read through the chapter, very interesting. I'll translate it in the next day or so, I've got a few other things to do.
Interestingly, on the 2nd or 3rd page it says "Chapter 2" in giant letters. Meaning this is the official start of the second big arc.

Well, I had a bunch of spoilers typed up, but I lost them all by closing the window. I'll type 'em up here as soon as I can recall them all.

Come on FOMA don't tease us like that:grin. It's good to see the action didn't stopped the moment the e-test ended, if anything it looks like its going to get more intense.

Spoilers for chapter 44:

-The bag Kijima sensei saw contains a (still living) human with all their bones removed. Apparently the enemy possesses the ability to consume people with talent and absorb the talent for his(?) own use.
-Enigma grants wishes by twisting the fates of people so that misfortune befalls
-Shigeru predicts that Sumio's wish will make everyone in the city disappear and never return
-Sumio recieves a phone call from his father telling him to board the train to a station that does not exist where the grave of the skull is located. There someone has to become a human sacrifice.
-The chapter ends with Shigeru disappearing the same way as Sumio's mum and Sumio boarding the train to that station.

Sweet dreams~

Sorry if it seemed like I was teasing all of you, but I wasn't kidding when I said I lost them all. I was just about done typing all the spoilers when I accidentally closed the window. I didn't feel like starting over again after having spent such a long time typing them all.

Anyways, I guess momogoldfish already mentioned much of the story, so I'll just go more into the specifics with my spoilers.

Today's spoilers are brought to you by this image (also a spoiler):

Now, what's that, you ask?
I made fun of the very first page of the chapter. I replaced Sumio's face upon waking up with a face of Inglip in a MemeBase-style comic. I'm actually planning to post this image on memebase.com. What do you guys think?

Now, onto the spoilers:
The very first page of the chapter shows Sumio waking up from a nightmare with Enigma telling him to board a 12:04 train bound for a place called Gaikotsujima.

He gets a text message from Kijima while Mina is still sleeping to come to abandoned building number 3 at Yuyami Hospital. There, he meets all his friends from the e-test and Kijima, who reveals that he made the building so that only they can enter it. Afterwards, Kijima reveals the bag, as already mentioned by momo.

Now, afterwards,
After saying goodbye to everyone else, Sumio and Shigeru go into Yuyami Station. As momo mentioned, this is where, in chronological order:
- Sumio gets his phone call from his father (shown silhouetted inside a phone booth where it's raining outside, unlike at Yuyami). He basically says the same thing as what Sumio dreamed Enigma said to him.
- Shigeru predicts the city disappearing.
- Shigeru disappears herself, AND
- Sumio spots the train he has to board. And as the train came, everyone on the platform started disappearing.

Interesting to note is that:
- Gaikotsujima literally means "outer secret island" or "outer bone island".
- The platform Sumio is on is for a train coming from "Iriai" and bound for "Higashi-Yuyami" (East Yuyami).

I think that's all there is to it.

Hopefully its ranking starts to rise now that there's a new mystery (I imagine that the WSJ readers got sick of the e-test after a year). It almost feels like a completely new series, but in a good way.

Definitely. The e-test storyline would bring down the series as a whole if repeated because what built this series was the suspense that came out of it. A repeat of the e-test would never have the same level of suspense as the original.

By the way, kewl's translation is out:
http://mangahelpers.com/t/kewl0210/releases/30863

And if you're reading this kewl, I'm pretty sure that "Kanival" is actually supposed to be "Cannibal".

Oh right. I was thinking it was a name so I didn't think of that.
Actually I thought it was a variation on Carnival. Anyhow, I changed it. You're right that is the katakanizaion for cannibal. And he eats people so it makes sense.

If these next few chapters don't save Enigma, I don't know what will.

If Enigma isn't bumped out of the bottom 5, I swear I will order a ticket to Japan with a bokken (japanese wood sword) and shotgun in hand to make Jump keep it.

Seriously, Jump would look like a bunch of idiots if they didn't keep this potential Arakawa-sensei of Jump.
