Why? From my perspective feats are the only thing mashima can't retcon. Feats don't NECESSARILY MATTER in guild battles I would admit that unfortunately. That's why gray can't beat an already beat up Mira. That's why natsu didn't use fdk on gajeel and that's most likely why laxus would lose this battle.
But when we aren't debating guild fights that's completely different entirely feats outweighs whatever statements that has been made. Just look at suzaku and the ddsk, you should understand what I mean by this

did the fights against most of the god seeds mattered feat wise or even most fights in general matter

Erza lost. She admitted defeat even though it was a draw. She struggled to endure the red lightning and she got one shot by Suzaku in her strongest armor. She isn’t equal to current Laxus. Mira is a complete non-factor because she is fodder for BDSK and Laxus > Kirin >= Suzaku > BDSK.

Laxus also admitted he lost. Multiple sources confirmed it was tie. Erza probably wouldn't had fell first even didn't hold back MAJORITY of the fight. She got oneshot by Suzaku then beat someone just as strong as him. It was an off guard attack. Misaki is just as strong as Kirin and Suzaku and Erza beat her. TDK Laxus=Erza heavenly body enchant > BDSK >> Red Lighting Laxus = Heaven Wheel Erza.
