Slayers don't have full immunity against their own elements. They have enhanced resistance. Natsu was still injured by Jackal's explosions. Chelia was still injured by Wendy's winds. Rogue was still injured by Gajeel's isd roar. Gray was still injured by Ur's ice. One blow from Igneel's magical power is all that is needed to take down God Serena, and Natsu had enough power to launch 4-6 attacks against Zeref. Even if Igneel left Natsu only half his power, that should still be more than enough to put him well above the level of a GMG dragon considering it would take 7 to take down Acnologia.

Except you know, heavy blows mean nothing if there is no lingering damage. Considering the fact that Motherglare (and even Future Rogue), were relatively unharmed by Atlas's power (even at the end of the fight), this all comes back down to the argument of AOE=/= destructive abilities..

Because a Fire Dragon Slayer being taken out by another Fire Dragon Slayer is feasible even in the slightest, but please, enlighten me how God Serena, a guy who has a Fire Dragon Lacrima inside him, is going to be taken out by fire from another slayer...
Nope, doesn't work in the slightest..

Dude the main damage from Demolition Fist isn't caused by the fire itself, it's the actual punch. God Serena may be able to eat fire but in no way is that going to help him tank a fist right to the stomach.

1) chapter 10. Mira claims erza + natsu + gray might well be the strongest team in fairy tail. laxus and his body guards existed at this time.

They were the strongest 'team' Laxus and his bodyguard aren't even a 'team' heck Laxus was by himself for the majority of the time BoS.

2) chapter 58. Mira said if aria removes his blinds, they may lose all hopes of winning the war.

MAY, she said MAY nothing for sure.

3) chapter 58 happy says aria is too strong. Obviously he couldn't detect mp as good as you can

Happy said that because Natsu was losing, while I doubt Happy can decent MP as good as other mages.

4) chapter 79 jellal wondered who will win erza or him.

That's not saying she would win lol.

5) chapter 108 markarov thought erza could defeat laxus. Obviously he couldn't know their mps

I already said this earlier Makarov was desperate and hoped Natsu, Gray or Gajeel could beat him.

6) chapter 273 jellal knowing his Mp and all decided to use mystogan magic to try and defeat jura. Even though laxus already called him unlucky for having to face jura.

He done this because he's trying to convince everyone he was Mystogan, heck Jellal lost because he used his own magic too much and Ultear stopped him.

7) chapter 305 Mavis not only knew jura mp but alot more about his fighting skills too. She couldn't decide a way to handle him.

She wasn't sure who could beat him and she had every right to be unsure, Laxus their strongest fighter BARELY beat him.

8) chapter 446 markarov repeatedly said you can't defeat ajeel. that 6 fairies vs 1 ajeel. markarov could see everyone mp but still said that.

Laxus' Fairy Law was perfect and Cana's Fairy Glitter on Jura wasn't. Fairy Law is apart of Laxus' arsenal and accounts from his strength. GMG Cana would get blitzed and one shotted.

My point was since it was not a fight just a challenge. Ogra was focusing on his cannon. He wasn't expecting jura would trick him, which he did. Thus he was unaware. Jura blitz might even be fast enough that he might not have seen it at all

Erza has one medium level attack which can counter ajeel magic, obviously medium level only if they are equal. And nothing for high level same spell at all. And erza is at advantage, lol

Erza is one of the only mages that has both of Ajeel's weaknesses in water and wind while since Erza herself is versatile she doesn't have any galring weaknesses like Ajeel. So yes Erza had the advantage.

How weak is aria matters because what we saw is

Baseless. Them using Jupiter was to destroy the guild hall completely, Gajeel doesn't have enough AoE to do that in one blow. Hades used the canon against Makarov does that mean the canon is stronger than the rest of Griamore Heart?

1) Laxus is not above in all board. She is more versatile, she has shown better reaction speed than laxus pre ts, look up racer.

She's more versatile that's it. Getting overwhelmed by Cobra and Hades doesn't give her better reaction speed LMAO. Laxus has always been one of if not the fastest FT member especially since his element helps that.

She actually one shoted her opponents, she has better defense better endurance maybe even better stamina.

All baseless. Erza hasn't shrugged off and no sold blow from Natsu' tier opponent and she doesn't have better stamina at all.

Hello everyone!

I finally managed to complete the ranking... yay! Took me a good amount of hours...

Since not everybody took the top64, some characters have a less accurate result than others. They did not receive the same treatment: the results are not as conclusive if you compare a data sample of 20 people with one of 10. What I mean is that characters who have had 20 'votes' are going to have a more conclusive or closer to 'true' value than those for which only 13 or 14 people (some people voted all 64 characters, others only 20...)

Of course the most accurate thing would have been for all the fandom in Mangahelpers to participate and to take the full top64 (the sorter), then we would get 100+ results and a better result. But I know it is hard to ask people to take 12 minutes to do something so I also appreciate the efforts of those who didn't go through the sorter but gave me a list of 20 or 23.

This ranking comprises the opinions of 20 people. I would like to point out this factually bestows it higher authority than any of our individual rankings. I would like for this communal ranking to be more than just an expense of hours of work. I would like for this to be a reference point whenever we are going to argue whether a character is above or below someone.

While it is true that what holds the most veridic authority are feats, rankings are the results of such feats. Rankings' values differ greatly among people. Sometimes the analyses of feats can be interpreted differently. Not like we have not argued before in this forum about a single feat which is interpreted differently by two (or more) people… right? These differences in opinion/interpretation translate in differences among the rankings.

Portrayal is also important. If two characters are portrayed as equals or as superior/inferior to the other, hype/downplaying by words from a certain character aimed at another certain character, etc. is also a valuable measure. However, many people in this forum tend not to abide by it and lash out against it.

Let us use this ranking as a means to get to some consensus without the need to bash or to argue or to hate on someone just because you do not like them (rather than because their view on certain facts does not coincide with yours, or you find it vague, etc.). Let us refer to it as a ‘more official’ and reliable source than the individual rankings. Let us use it as something that might complement our points since it is backed up by ourselves. While it is true what the majority says is not necessarily truer than what a minority holds to be true, let us remember this ranking actually also includes that minority.

I would ask of you more participation for the next ranking, one that I plan on carrying out when the manga is about to end or we have sufficient amount of feats to add more characters or to change our opinions on some others.

There are 64 characters on this ranking. Each position is going to get a certain amount of points. The higher the position, the higher the number of points. Since there are 64 characters in the sorter, the character in first position is going to get +64 points, the character in the second position is going to get +63, until we get to the character in 64th position who’s going to get +1 point.

For example, three people have participated. The first one has put Freed on the 12th position, the second one on the 30th position and the third one on the 40th position. Freed is going to get 53 points + 35 points + 25 points, which amounts to 113. We’re going to divide these 113 points by the number of people participating (3) and we're going to obtain a certain number. When all characters' number has been calculated, we're going to order them accordingly.

You are very entitled to compare the general results with your personal view on any character!

God Serena's attacks are on Laxus/Natsu/Jellal's level. In fact, their attacks might actually be stronger because they have taken out Spriggan level characters.

Saying that the GMG dragons are on Igneel's level is laughable. ZIlconis was too scared to even say Acnologia's name, and was probably slain by him as he was one of the dragons under the GMG stadium. Igneel wanted to fight Acnologia in personally, and managed to take his arm. This is a permanent injury. I can safely say that Igneel did more against Acnologia than every dragon that he has slain before.

August knows every type of magic. This should include time magic. If August knows arc of time, he should negate Dimaria. Also, it's outright been stated that August and Irene are stronger than Dimaria.

God Serena can't eat any attacks that he can't react to, and not all attacks can be eaten in a fight. Look at Natsu and Zancrow's fight or look at Wendy and Chelia's fight. There were a good deal of attacks being thrown around, mostly hand to hand combat attack, that landed. If Igneel-powered Natsu punches Serena in the stomache, like he did multiple times against Zeref, Serena is getting knocked out.

Natsu with Atlas Flame's power could start dealing heavy blows to Motherglare. Natsu with Igneel's power should downright be able to slay a GMG dragon. If a dragon slayer with Igneel's magical power isn't on par with dragons weaker than Igneel, then there is something seriously wrong.

Hades is above Gildarts easily. Hades outright beat Laxus, and with his heart he tanked an attack that consumed all of Laxus mp and Natsu's. Essentailly Hades could beat Laxus + Natsu + Erza + Gray + Lucy + Wendy. Gildarts would struggle with just Laxus, whom was around Bluenote's level at that time.



Except this isn't even true. Silver's magical power would have ran out by the end of the Tartarus arc, and Gray had to learn how to perform devil slaying magic on his own. Natsu started the timeskip having Igneel's magical power inside his arm. Sure, Natsu had to train 10 months to be able to release it, but the amount of magical power that Igneel has is far superior than Silver's.


War God Ikusa-Tsunagi is taller than any mountain, and the war god could cleave apart at least 2 mountains with his sword. Going by your logic that mountain busting feats = Taking out a Spriggan, then the shouldn't the war god be able to take one out as well? Natsu shattered the war god.

Gildarts punches can be matched by Bluenote. It took GIldarts his strongest attack on Tenrou Island to knock out Bluenote. Natsu can oneshot Bluenote with a single roar. Jellal can oneshot Neinhart, whom is a Spriggan. Laxus is hyped to be able to take out Ajeel in a single hit, and can take out Hades after having fought Wahl. Tenrou Island Gildarts simply does not have feats comparable with the current characters. He might be a lot stronger when he shows up again, but that's all pure speculation.


Except, when you look at the official translations, August is said to be able to use every magic under the sun. It's also said that none of the others even come close to his level of magic power. You also put God Serena above Irene. You do realize that Irene managed to have one exchange with Acnologia, whilst God Serena was killed instantly right?

Irene didn't fight on par with Acnologia or even gave him a "fight". All she really did was move him to another place, she's just an upgraded version of Mest. And do you really think Irene wouldn't have gotten ripped in half if it wasn't for plot? God Serna isn't the MC dragons slayers so he was out of the picture. (Gajeel as proof)

Dimaria may not be stronger than August in terms of magical power, but she has one ability which allows her to bypass all logic. Her time stop stretched the entire earth, which is true because if she couldn't stop time in a small area then some people would be in the future.

I don't really have a lot to say about the results though, that would turn into a mere comparison with my own ranking which is not the point. Overall i think the results make sense. I don't see any particular character who's out of place.

I'm looking forward to doing this again (and seeing the results) once we get to see more feats from featless characters (looking at you Gray, GIldarts and Brandish ).

Crunchyroll is the official translation (buy the official book from Amazon, and you'll see the exact same translations). That's the one I'm using. It says August can use ever magic under the sun.

Hades can tank LFD roar. He would tank anything Gildarts threw at him.

In the Japanese raws, Natsu said "This is the fire of the fire dragon king". Now Igneel happens to be the fire dragon king, and that was implied in the subtext, but the actual words spoken was 炎竜王の炎. That literally translates to "Fire of the Fire Dragon King". Anyways, it should be no surprise that fire dragon king spells use the same type of fire as Igneel. That doesn't mean Fire Dragon King spells require Igneel's magical power. Natsu never said he was using Igneel's magical power.

Natsu said he can only use Igneel's magical power once. That's exactly what he did against Zeref. Use it once, and then it was gone. I don't see how you can possibly interpret something that was set-up as a one-time use only as something that Natsu has been using this entire time.

You literally backed up my statement about Igneels power. Fire of the fire dragon King means the same things as flames of Igneel.

Natsu said he can use this once, he means all of the power that he can't regenerate. Happy said he knows the secret meaning he already knew what it was meaning that Natsu used this power before.

Fire of the Fire Dragon King =/= Igneel's magical power. Natsu uses the same type of magic as Igneel does, so the type of fire he creates is the same as the type of fire Igneel creates. That's what his fire dragon king spells are, and Natsu can use FDK spells without Igneel's magical power. By the way, Natsu doesn't call Igneel's magical power "Igneel's fire" either. When Natsu was talkiing about Igneel's magical power, he uses the proper term for magical power, which is 魔力 (literally magic power).

Laxus is on same level as base Hades. Hades pretty much one shot him. And ones Hades started fight laxus landed only one hit on him.
But they are on same level.

But into laxus >> erza + Mira + natsu + ogra + jura + jellal + bluenote + zero

People don't like to bring this up but Hades only survived that 5v1 due to his heart giving magic power. His heart gave him the ability to heal any damage given to him by Fairy tail. After Natsu used his roar, he healed instantly.

People also don't like to mention that laxus only landed one hit on Hades after Hades started to fight. Its one of those embarrassing details people like to imagine never happened

Beyond a few placements (I only really looked at top 30) the general consensus isn't half bad. Gildarts is a little high considering he had a Mid-Diff fight with Bluenote back on Tenrou and hasn't had any real new feats since. I'm sure everyone knows how I feel about DiMaria and her stupid Age Seal. God Serena is also a lot higher then he should be but other then that good list. Congrats to everyone who participated and of course big shoutout to @Char for doing such a great job. Definitely participating on the final one.

@sharkai Laxus blitzed the living daylights out of Hades and could have done more had we not decided to give all of his remaining MP to Natsu. What Natsu did to Hades is not far off from what Laxus could have done, since Laxuses MP would have made Natsus damn near insignificant. Erza wouldn't have able to replicate what Laxus did, not even close.

Because some Jellal and some Natsu fans both voted against him. Some Jellal fans because he was against Jellal and some Natsu fans because they knew he stood a better chance in the final against Jellal then he did against Laxus.
The tournament was a farce imho. Waaaay too much speculation, assumption and wishful thinking and not enough reliance on actual feats, otherwise Laxus would have won it because no matter how you look at it, he has the best feats out of everyone in the tournament.

Edit: No disrespect to the organisers, it was well organised and presented, it's just the arguments brought forward that were horrible.
