Yeah um no, he evaporated the lake water not the entire lake.

Zoom in on the last picture you posted, on the left said you see the tree and at the end you see the mountains or hills.

Natsu punched with his fire attack but didn't evaporate the entire lake. You can zoom in and see water on the left and right side.

Edit. Natsu punched him above the surface of the water. Natsu and Jacob were pushed foward. Meaning Natsu only leveled the surface for a moment.

Yeah, the water from the lake.

No, there is no water in the last image I posted. That was simply the way the force of the punch was illustrated. Natsu's punch crushed the ground beneath him which was already exposed by the body heat.

Why are you comparing a dragon to Irene?

Dragons are immune to magic, end of story. Only magic taught from dragons can affect them.

Current Natsu wouldn't even touch any dragons. The only person I'd see even doing damage to a dragon is Laxus or God Serna and second gen slayers have shown to outclass the original ones.
Well for the sake of explaining my post, I was comparing the difference in power between Eileen and Zirconis but used Acnologia to measure it.

I don't think dragons are immune to magic though. I mean if that was true, then only curse power would affect them. But since demons are inferior to dragons, that would mean dragons are invincible (which is not the case). We know dragons can be defeated by Dragon Slayer Magic (still magic). So that in itself is already proven. We also have evidence that a dragon can be "affected" by regular magic, but for a dragon to be "killed" by regular magic, that mage would need a massive amount of MP and attack power.

I have doubts about Natsu and Laxus being able to defeat dragons. I'm still hesitant with God Serena as well. All three can definitely injure one though. That I will agree on.

Not to mention the fact that if dragons really were immune to magic, Acnologia wouldn't have been affected by Universe One.

Igneel ripped Acnologias arm off with pure strength. So I'm guessing if there's a Mage with super strength, he could behead Acnologia.

The jade Dragon laughed when humans tried attacking him. That's when he said dragons are immune to magic.

Curse power was formed from magic stated by Mard Geer. Idk that's true because Hiro made him lie about END.

I would say because he's still a human but he's a dragon now. But I think that only offensive magics don't work.

I wouldn't care if one of our mods claimed Happy was above Acnologia, that's not an excuse to start bashing people. Everyone here (for the most part) has been civil and respectful in sharing their opinions whereas you just spew out insults like a triggered 5 year old. Learn to have an actual conversation with a human being or else don't comment at all. You've already made clear what you think of the people on these forums, why not just leave? No one would miss you.
Ok, that convo is over.

Gildarts punched the ocean water and made a huge ring around them for a long period time.

Fair enough. I think we'll just have to disagree here. You may believe that dragons are immune to magic but I just happen to think that they are extremely durable at least from what was shown in the manga (resistance to their own element being an extra attribute).

Anyways, I will agree with you on one thing of all the debates currently ongoing. I am of the same belief as you that Natsu did not evaporate the whole lake which I've already gone over in the Fairy Tail Tournament Thread. It was a good amount, no doubt. But not even close to the entirety of it.

I'm not sure if Irene or August can kill a dragon, given how strong their bodies are. I will say that apart from DS, August and Irene would be top 3 most likely to defeat one.

To KO a dragon of Motherglare's level you'd need a DS attack as strong as AF Natsu's punch. FDKM Natsu can pull that off. God Serena's spells might, and he can spam. Laxus hasn't showed a slayer move that can, but his dragon slayer spells should be around FDK level when at full power, give or take.

Mira proved that Gildarts is no where near August or Irene

Mira has never seen an opponent who is as strong as August or Irene. So this automatically proves that Gildarts is nowhere near them.So unless Gildarts trains for a year i don't see him reaching August or Irene level.Infact he may never be a Spriggan level.
That's a fallacy.

Mirajane didn't say that; she said their magic power is humongous. Mirajane has faced Acnologia on Tenrou Island, whose power was stated on many occasion to be above that of all Spriggans.

That doesn't mean I agree that August and Gildarts are on the same level, but just thought I should clear out the confusion regarding your post about Mirajane's comment.

Did you really just say Laxus Lightning isn't from his LIGHTNING LACRAMA?

Atlas flame was being blasted by motherglares attack which made a huge explosion, taller than the clouds and wasn't phased at all. Natsu is not even close to that level of magic power. To say that Natsus demolition fist would affect Motherglare is ridiculous.

Dragons are immune to magic spells, so what's the point of debating whether or not they put down a dragon?

Thanks for the hard work @Char! I have to respect the effort you put into bringing the community together to draft these rankings.
Hehe tank you :P

Now as for the rankings themselves
You're gonna need to think out of the box if you want to at least understand why these characters are this high even though you don't agree with it.

- lol at Gildartz being so high......he should be closer to Bluenote level.
There are two perspectives to be taken here: Those who think Glidartz should be on Bluenote level, and those who think that whereas Bluenote seems not to have improved, Glidartz being a member of FT and FT members having an absurd growth ratio, he should come back way more powerful to "meet" his hype. I think those who place him slightly higher than Bluenote are as right as those who put him very high, just a matter of perspective.

- Wolfheim and Hyberion are extremely high, above even Gray and Gajeel. Do people think Gray and Gajeel together would get fodder-stomped by base Serena? >.>
Again, there are two perspectives here:
- Those who put God Serena 'not so high' or on average level Spriggan (Ajeel level). If you're one of those, then it's clear Wolfheim and Hyberion are going to have to be very low on the list, because they were literally fodderized by an Ajeel level character. Then base Gray or base Gajeel should be above since base Gajeel put up a better fight against a Spriggan than the 3GoI+Jura did.
- Those who put God Serena higher than the average Spriggan (not quite reaching August/Irene, but definetely above Ajeel, Jacob or even Bradman). Those will consider that the GoI were strong opponents but, upon being fodderized, they necessarily have to think that God Serena is simply superstrong.
I think GoI+Jura >> Base Gray + Base Gajeel, but we haven't seen much from Base Gray anyway, and we will never know what'd happen if they were to face God Serena :P

- Sayla, who was beaten from one preskip Elfman attack is above current Gajeel, Future Rogue, Jura, Silver, Kyoka Etc, and that's absurd.
You can either think: "OK, Shaila shouldn't be so powerful since she was beaten by an attack from Elfman so she should be even below himself on the list" or you could think "Well Shaila fodderized the strongest form of Mirajane atm + she has macro which apparently is omnipotent if you agree with the NLF so she should actually be quite something". Both positions make sense :)

- Really dont get how Silver could be above Ur
Because whereas Silver received mainly laudable feats, Ur got a lot of hype. I consider the Tartaros demons to be in general below Wizard Saint level or borderline WS level except for MG who is high Wizard Saint level or even God of Ishgar level. However, Ur was actually hyped to be a WS.

Also, there's a reason why it was like that, but if you don't consider that in the Gray+Lyon VS Ur battle there were emotional factors and there was a Gray trying to push Lyon to wake up and fight back, then Ur was overpowering Base Gray + Lyon since her attacks were on a higher scale than theirs and she seemingly had no scratch whatsoever whereas they were injured as a result of her attacks. So IF you do not account for the emotional factors, the battle between Silver vs Gray and Ur vs Gray+Lyon was 'similar', but Alvarez Gray >>>> Tartaros Gray so by powerscaling it kind of makes sense I guess that Ur is above. But yeah if you were to ask me who's stronger, it'd be a hard question for me. But if you asked me who'd win, definetely Silver since he can just eat her ice up.

What on earth Char? Despite Gray being at a major disadvantage, that fight ended with Gray shooting a massive hole through Silver.......he was clearly the stronger of the two. Need I remind you that Silver was immune to Gray's magic and still lost?
You shouldn't have paid much attention to me on that. I hardly remember Silver's feats other than freezing an entire town + a "poof" speed feat in whcih he separated Gray from the others (but the anime may've exaggerated that, and I remember that scene from the anime). As far as I'm concerned DeS Gray only managed to freeze a reasonably big area (when vs Ajeel) but nowhere near a town, and I haven't seen speed feats from him in this arc so we can't say for sure.

Also, Gray beat Silver but not in a contest of magic, since he was in a clear disadvantage, but using his intellect. Which adds up to his strength, of course, and only proves he's stronger. But feat wise, I think Gray hasn't stil proven capable of freezing a town.

I agree with Kay3795 regarding the topic about the GMG Dragons and August/Eileen.

I never understood how some believed August/Eileen can defeat a dragon, especially without Dragon Slayer Magic.
DS magic should be but a mere factor for a mage to be less powerful than another mage but still be as effective or more against a dragon. DS magic should not determine who can exclusively defeat a dragon.

Similarly, TO Chelia + Wendy as a backup + Ultear for age seal prevention managed to beat an opponent who's a few leagues above herself, but because of the GS factor. That doesn't mean August, who is not a God Slayer, could not beat Dimaria, does it?

Dragons have so high a durability that any attacks from GMG Jura level or below that are not going to even tickle them. That doesn't mean that Spriggan-level attacks, which are faaaaaar above GMG Jura's attacks, are not going to hurt them, right?

Also, Irene probably put up a better fight against the strongest dragon than many GMG dragons would before being utterly fodderized by Acno!

Now fast foward from the GMG Arc to the Alvarez Arc (1 year difference). As of right now, I don't see Natsu or Laxus being capable of slaying any dragon.
Claiming such a thing means you probably have not grasp the immense growth of these two characters. They are nothing like they were a year ago. If you ask me, with the Second Origin they closed up a gap of 7 years; but with this year they probably closed a gap of 15 years. I mean their progress is as impressive and unnatural as it is little believable. I do believe they could mid-diff a GMG dragon.

Also I don't think we should take August being pierced as a proof of low durability since he was caught off guard / passive durability and what is a factor here is not that kind of durability but his battle durability. He can probably envelop himself in some kind of indestructible barrier for all we know.

Also to whomever is in favor that Dragons are immune to non dragon slaying magic, I think we've been over that a few times. No, they are not immune, they're just more durable. Similarly Gods are more durable but God Slaying magic affects them more.

Dragons can be defeated by non dsm. It's the amount of mp that's lacking to kill a dragon. In the gmg arc no one could do any damage to the dragons. In the Tartaros arc there was almost nothing left of Atlas Flame's power before and after being frozen. Since the tartaros arc, came the time skip where everyone got multiple times stronger.

Igneel was not at full strength against Acnologia due to his soul having been taken away long ago. So he was fighting with leftovers. Natsu had leftover power of what was already leftovers from Igneel. Therefore I think even though Natsu is my favorite character, he is being overestimated. A little of Igneel's power does not give Natsu the full might of Igneel and does not mean he could slay dragons with that amount of power. Zeref had his curse magic burnt away during his fight with Natsu, but that doesn't mean he was trying to use his curse magic to its full power. Ice can stop fire, and fire can stop ice. It just depends who has more mp.

Erigor bragged that his wind magic is effective against fire, but in their fight only storm mail was the one effective magic against fire. All other wind magic did not put out Natsu's fire. At that time Natsu was not as strong as Erigor. But even then storm mail became useless once Natsu let his feeling of anger boost his strength and redirect the wind upwards, thereby stopping Erigor's attack and beating him. In their rematch Natsu beat him up easily. Both are legitimate wins and are canon. A character being cocky and saying his magic is effective does not mean anything when bragging that his wind puts fires out, yet it was fire that controlled wind and sent the wind away.

My point is that Mira was so shocked by the power of those 2 that she made this comment. But she never made this kind of comment on Gildarts that his strength defies logic.

True, but you have to understand that there's a big difference between these two situations: Gildarts is an ally, so why would she comment on the power of someone she would never have to fight. When it comes to August and Irene, they are direct enemies to Fairy Tail and will have to be defeated eventually, hence her remark on their otherworldly magic power. :)

Even a nuclear bomb will look tiny if it is observed from a certain distance away. Even a mountain range is far closer to the guild then the explosion, and they still saw it. And then we have the close-up:

Which is undeniably bigger then a mountain. We have similar rock structures to the one that Gildarts cracked right there next to the explosion. Either way, this has dragged, you can still hold on to Gildarts being the more impressive lol.

I'm am completely ignoring everything that happened after because it is irrelevant. What matters is what his expression was during the moment in question, and it was undeniably bloodlusted. Thats all there is to it. August was also certainly pissed, but even he wasn't as pissed as Gildarts was at that moment. Gildarts was almost as shadowed out as him and Augusts skin is shadowed, plus that vein tho.

He says he negated it, and then follows up with most of it anyways. That means he did not negate all of it, he is not immune to fire, simply highly resistant to it. The latter is a blatant lie. Disassembly hasn't shown to have a big AoE.

With all due respect this is just ranting bias. I'm not going to debate this. You can believe what you like.

No he doesn't. His magic is just straight up raw power. That leaves room for defeat by anyone with more raw power then him or hax.

I suggest you re-read what happened. Bluenote attacked Natsu, Natsu simply no-sold his attack with a simple flame punch. Bluenote then proceeds to charge in and get one-shotted. Whether he made a follow up attack or not wouldn't have changed the fact that he would have gotten one-shotted by that roar. Natsu did not go all out, Natsu using his FDK moves isn't even him going all-out (and his FDK moves are far stronger then that roar on Bluenote). When Natsu uses FDKM is when we can assume he is going all-out.

Makes little difference. If Cana is standing right in front of Gildarts and pulls out a sword, Gildarts isn't going to be putting his guard up against his daughter, especially if the actual enemies are behind them. If you are close to someone you aren't going to doubt them.

Actually I can. If August is stated to be stronger then character A then I can rightfully assume that August wouldn't get blitzed and defeated by character A. August doesn't have any speed feats yet, but he doesn't need them because he is far stronger then characters who are stronger and faster then Gildarts.
If you believe in titles than God Serna is the strongest Mage in Ishgar, Gildarts is still the strongest Mage in fairy tail, Jura is the strongest human.

Crash has a hue AOE, it's safe to assume his other magic are on the same level.

The attack from August is not mountain busting level, that beam of energy was thin.

"People with more raw power could beat him"
Yes, this is true but in terms of magic, he can negate it all.

"Gildarts was blood lusted"
I don't think Gildarts was blood lusted just because a dinosaur was eating Natsu. And it doesn't matter, he put way more effort into that punch than need to. The next panel shows him not even sweating as if nothing ever happened.

But in the case with August, he was just stabbed and saw Brandish being controlled. He used his ugly black skin form to perform that attack, his facial expression is way more scarier than Gildarts.

Also Gajeel is very underrated. Gmg, he was just as effective as Natsu against the sabertooth dragon slayers. Both were winning and losing the same way. Both got beaten up by df Sting and got up at the same time. In the tartaros arc, both Natsu and Gajeel were winning and losing against the demons in the same fashion. So if both are not in dragonforce mode they are almost equal, but Natsu is still a bit stronger. So why is it now that Gajeel finally went dragonforce, many still put df Gajeel below base Natsu? Gajeel said that he was upset seeing the other ds surpass him, but he wasn't talking about power. He meant that he was a ds and he was last to get a cat and last that still didn't go into df, with even Wendy in his mind talking about being able to enter df mode any time she wants. For me I'd predict that df Gajeel would be stronger than base Natsu and even base Laxus or Jellal. Gray and Gajeel are being underestimated IMO. Neither one has magic that is as destructive as fire or lightning, blowing things up, well... because metal and ice don't blow up and aren't that flashy, but could still be just as strong.

Df Gajeel is put beneath many because metal magic doesn't cause mass destruction like some others. Gray doesn't have much feats this arc, but pretty sure he's close to Natsu. I hate giving Gray credit because he's Natsu's rival, but it is what it is. If based on feats, then yeah Gray doesn't deserve to be ranked as high in this arc. But a feat is an opportunity that he hasn't gotten yet as I believe he has the capabilities of achieving. Portrayal is a factor I include and because of that everyone has a slight difference in opinion, but overall the ranking now, thanks to everyone's contributions especially @Char, is more reasonable compared to when the arc began.

I tend to disagree with the statement that Acnologia would probably have trouble defeating a dragon in his human form. In my opinion, that's going too far.

It is true that he would have less durability but his is already unrealistically high. He would probably still be standing after a dragon guts him. Not to mention, his MP is on a whole different level. Because he himself is technically a dragon slayer, his "dragon slaying magic" should easily be able to kill a regular dragon. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if he could one-shot the weakest dragon with pure magic alone (not in his dragon form).

DS magic should be but a mere factor for a mage to be less powerful than another mage but still be as effective or more against a dragon. DS magic should not determine who can exclusively defeat a dragon.
I agree that slayer advantage shouldn't be the sole reason as to why dragons, demons, or gods are defeated. But my point is that August and Eileen don't have the capability to defeat one just yet. Not because they are not slayers but because they don't have enough overall damage [Magic Power + Slayer Effectiveness].

Don't get me wrong, August and Eileen have enough magic power to injure a dragon. But defeating one will probably take more like slayer advantage. Based on the feats we've seen from August/Eileen so far, I don't see them taking down a dragon.

Similarly, TO Chelia + Wendy as a backup + Ultear for age seal prevention managed to beat an opponent who's a few leagues above herself, but because of the GS factor. That doesn't mean August, who is not a God Slayer, could not beat Dimaria, does it?
Base Chelia with God Slaying Magic was barely able to scratch Dimaria. Only when Chelia had Third Origin (which massively increased her power) did she have a chance against her. Now I understand that Chelia relied more on her power-up than her slayer advantage, but that was because she was tiers below Dimaria to start out with. August/Eileen satisfy the MP and attack power requirement but without slayer advantage, I see them being a little short of beating a dragon.

Let me ask you this question though. From the opposite perspective, do you think TO Chelia could have beaten Dimaria without slayer advantage? If your answer is no, then that is my point with August and Eileen.

Dragons have so high a durability that any attacks from GMG Jura level or below that are not going to even tickle them. That doesn't mean that Spriggan-level attacks, which are faaaaaar above GMG Jura's attacks, are not going to hurt them, right?
I agree that the Spriggans are far better than GMG Jura. But the question is, how much did Jura improve between the GMG Arc to Alvarez Arc (1 year difference)? I believe there was a consensus that Jura didn't improve much since Tartaros and that he is arguably on Erza's level (almost on par with Ajeel) in the current arc. That would put him on the level of a Low-Medium Tier Spriggan. So the difference between Jura and a Spriggan isn't too far.

Also, Irene probably put up a better fight against the strongest dragon than many GMG dragons would before being utterly fodderized by Acno!
I tend to differ here. The exchange between Eileen and Acnologia is very similar to Gildarts' experience. The only difference is that Acnologia straight up attacked Gildarts while he wasn't even willing to engage in a fight with Eileen. All this tells me is that Eileen is arrogant and that she is very much weaker than him from "running away". Honestly, I wouldn't even use Gildarts' battle with Acnologia as proof of his durability.

I don't deny their growth during the timeskip. But can they really defeat a dragon? If you look at Natsu, he had to go FDKM to beat (not kill) Jacob. That is already 1 power-up that Natsu had to use just to defeat a Low-Tier Spriggan. Although everyone may have improved, it isn't like they are godly right now. That is what I'm trying to get at. And just to make it clear, I don't believe the GMG dragons are fodders. Here is how I see it.

Dragon Tiers

Top-Tier Dragons
 • Igneel
 • Acnologia
 • Dragon Kings
High-Tier Dragons
 • Metalicana
 • Grandeeney
 • Weisslogia
 • Skiadrum
 • Parent Dragons
Mid-Tier Dragons
 • GMG Dragons
Low-Tier Dragons
 • Fodder Dragons [One-Shotted by "Future Natsu from the Anime" and "Dragon Slayers from 400 years ago"]

Anyways, just to explain why I think the GMG dragons are being underestimated... Let me put it this way.

To Defeat Acnologia

 • Zeref + Spriggan 12 + Alvarez Empire + Fairy Heart (Infinite Magic Source) = Acnologia

Now let's use a GMG dragon like Atlas Flame for example. He is obviously inferior to Acnologia.

To Defeat Atlas Flame

 • Spriggan 12 + Zeref + Alvarez Empire + Fairy Heart (Infinite Magic Source) = Atlas Flame
 • Spriggan 12 + Zeref + Alvarez Empire = Atlas Flame
 • Spriggan 12 + Zeref = Atlas Flame
 • Spriggan 12 = Atlas Flame
 • August = Atlas Flame

So here is my point. How much weaker is Atlas Flame compared to Acnologia? A lot weaker, right? But not to the extent where you have to exclude Zeref, 11 Spriggans, Alvarez Empire, and Fairy Heart... If this is the case, Atlas Flame would be fodderized by Acnologia in his human form without the latter even having to move, use magic, etc. And that would be ridiculous.

Also I don't think we should take August being pierced as a proof of low durability since he was caught off guard / passive durability and what is a factor here is not that kind of durability but his battle durability. He can probably envelop himself in some kind of indestructible barrier for all we know.
I acknowledge that August was caught off guard but let's be real. A dragon would be much more lethal and quick compared to Brandish. Even if he was expecting an attack from a dragon, an instant gut to his body would render him useless. I also don't think a shield/barrier would be that helpful in this situation.

Also to whomever is in favor that Dragons are immune to non dragon slaying magic, I think we've been over that a few times. No, they are not immune, they're just more durable. Similarly Gods are more durable but God Slaying magic affects them more.
I agree dragons are not immune to magic.
