that's funny because he didn't saw Laxus' tempo, Gajeel's tempo, Zero's tempo, Future Rogue's tempo and etc. nope, that explanation sucks. Erza being stronger than Kagura and Minerva(via SO) is the same shit as that imo.
You know I'm trying to avoid using the word 'plot' in my explanation lmao, but honestly that's the explanation we got so it works for me, also Yajima admitted that Natsu and Gajeel were completely out of Sting and Rogue's leagues so there's that to go with, Minerva also knew that the Twins wouldn't win so that fight isn't exactly as bad as it looks..
Anyway, the only 2 Sabertooth mages Natsu can beat are Sting and Rogue, Gray beat Rufus who's stronger than Sting and Rogue (but lel Natsu has always been stronger than Gray apparently)..
Btw, Future Rogue is one of my favorite villains because he completely shit stomped Natsu twice, even when Natsu had help F.Rogue still had the upper hand..

Natsu vs Laxus: Laxus drained most of his mp on a Fairy Law that did nothing and then his strongest attack never made contact with Natsu. At that point in the battle most of Laxus's magic was all but depleted.

Natsu vs Gajeel: Natsu ate fire which replenished his magic

Natsu vs Zero: Natsu ate Jellal's flames and was able to access DF

Natsu vs Future Rogue: Natsu got powered by Atlas Flame

None of these battles even come close to the bullshit that goes on in Erza's battles.
I'm not comparing all Natsu' fights against Erza's. its clear that Erza has more bullshit than him

my point is, the way you said it sounds like Natsu should destroy everyone just by feeling their tempo. the main problem is, we were waiting for that fight since those two were introduce and what did we got???

DF Stings stomps both Gajeel and Natsu.

Me: YEAH!!!!! FINALLY!!!

Gajeel, Natsu: We know your attacks and movements.
Me: Oh no. Natsu or Gajeel will solo them.

Natsu stomps them in his base form.
Me: Fuck this shit.

in fact, I almost didn't even watch the fight because of its title(Natsu vs Twin Dragons),

so saying that Natsu vs Twin Dragons are without any bullshit is ridiculous. I don't mean to offend you, ofc.

Pretty sure Erza has always been inferior to Gray ever since Tartarus since Gray was manhandling Mard Geer alone while Erza was having problems with Kyouka and even a weaker Sayla, also In Avatar Gray beat Goumon in one hit while Erza was given trouble by Jerome...
Gray beating Ul is better than Erza losing to three Historia who are all weaker than Ur, there's proof for the current arc right there..

Easy, Mirajane Alegria is stronger than Nakagami Erza, her armor won't do anything to Mira so that already puts Mira above Erza
Not really. Gray has DeS which means he's better at handling demons than Erza, I don't think that's enough to put him above her. Wendy by virtue of being a DS would probably fair better against a dragon than Erza, and yet I wouldn't say Wendy>Erza, she just happens to have the perfect counter.
The same historia that a hampered(by injury) Erza was struggling against? Okay. I'd love to see how an injured Gray would fair against a trio of Ur, Mard Greer & Silver without DeS, I'm sure he'd stomp them lol.

Again, what is the proof that Alegria>>Nakagami Erza? She doesn't have to do anything to Mira, if Mira runs out of magic anyways. And because Mira would operate on curses in Alegria doesn't necessarily mean Erza using magic would be helpless.

Based on hype, scaling, puts Gray ahead of Erza, so therefore Gray>Erza. I'm basing it on his full demonized form+trump card, that he'll be above Erza, even if he doesn't have the sufficient feats so far. This is a power ranking thread, not a feats thread. Heck I'd put ISD Gajeel ahead of Erza.

She can Macro Erza considering Sayla was able to do so while being depleted. Full Algeria Mira take over should be sufficient enough to be ahead of Erza, who hasn't done shit in this arc despite going all out.
Okay, I guess that's where we disagree, and I don't believe in putting someone ahead of another based on "hype scaling" and "trump cards" they have not even shown yet, seems meaningless to me. ISD Gajeel>Erza, I have nothing on that.

Mirajane's power level=/=Seilah. I'm not buying that Seilah being able to macro Erza means Mira could too in that form. The bolded bit is laughable and doesn't need responding to, lol

And really, idk the rule in this thread, but using "future potential" or a power not yet shown to place someone above the other is borderline silly, and this is the first time I can say I've seen that logic used anywhere, if this is how power ranking is argued in here, then LOL, I'm out, because that's just really illogical.

Well I mean the Fairy Tail tournament had us use DF Natsu from this arc even if we haven't seen him yet so technically we're just following what the Romans do in Rome:P

Both the Erza Vs Kagura, Minerva and Natsu Vs Sting, rogue make sense. In the case of the former it was hinted at since the beginning that something was off with Erza and SO:

She did not activate it until her fight with Minerva, and when she did she got an extra full container of MP and was able to defeat Minerva with it. As for her and Kagura, Benizakura has been Erzas strongest "armour" since the beginning (apart from Nagakami now of course), Kagura destroying Erzas other armours and then loosing to that is no different then when Ikaruga did it or when Azuma did it.

In regards to Natsu Vs Sting and Rogue, there is nothing BS about Natsu and Gajeel being off guard by Sting and Rogues spike in power. Its happened before and its going to happen in the future. Doesn't help that the twins did their attacks in combos, so once it started Gajeel/Natsu kinda had to take the beating until it was done or a window of opportunity arrived.

The only BS fight with Erza was her fight with Kyouka, given that she shouldn't have even been able to get back up let alone find Kyouka and beat her to a pulp. And half-assed wouldn't even do the explanation he gave as to why she could do it justice.

Is Gildarts above Laxus via portrayal? Yes. Is he a whole tier below Gildarts? Hell fucking no. Gildarts has always been called the strongest mage, but nothing implies there has been a huge gap between the two at all. Heck on Tenrou Island nothing itself implies there was a big gap, Gildarts struggled against Bluenote while Laxus himself was able to give Hades a decent fight while he was the only good guy who wasn't and given a power boost by the Tenrou Tree (yeah in case you forgot anyone with the guild mark gets a boost in power and can't die while on the Island). So no Gildarts hasn't always been a solid tier above Laxus, heck in the GMG games Laxus literally beat someone who said to be as strong as Gildarts. Lord this Gildarts wank is getting out of control.
Not the Glidartz struggling against Bluenote again, please. As soon as Glidartz got serious he oneshotted him. Glidartz was an SS mage while Laxus was an S mage. Laxus was able to give patched Hades a decent fight after he had fought Makarov and the main cast so it's likely he was not as fresh as he was against Makarov, still the two lost I think Glidartz could've beaten patched Hades (NEVER unpatched Hades / Hades with heart).

Was the boost of Tenrou not given to Laxus? I think his guildmark was never erased.

Also not again with the Jura = Glidartz; Makarov was surprised as hell after seeing Laxus beat Jura which translates into "I have no fucking idea how strong Jura is".

But fine let's say not a solid tier above and let's leave it like that...

So basically what you're saying is that Natsu vs the Twin Dragons was bullshit because "I didn't like it". In sorry but that's not a valid argument.

I can't speak for you but a lot of people (me included) wanted Natsu and Gajeel to fight the Twin Dragons because up until that point Sting and Rogue were arrogant stuck up assholes and we wanted to see them get the ass-whooping they deserve. Again, you wanting Sting and Rogue to win has no bearing on the legitimacy of the fight or how bullshit it was. The explanation that was provided, regardless of whether you personally like it or not, was adequate and logically it made enough sense to justify Natsu beating the shit out of them.

Well Hiro is kinda restricted to draw good fights because the new studio that will producing season 3 is shit at doing fluid fights. This is why most fights in fairy tail require good animation/drawing/coloring other than fluid fights like Kakashi vs Obito.

August is by far the weakest Spriggan, I don't care

I don't read essays. Blast>Swords. End of story.
LOL it kinda saddens me that at this point you've lost so much confidence in your own arguments that you don't even bother to bring them up or to read any counter counterarguments. "Waaah August is the weakest and blasts are stronger than blades because I said so and anyone who disagrees with me is automatically wrong and a idiot." How pathetic.

no I'm not. I was hyped about that fight and I got nothing. same with Erza. she also got explanation. heck, I wouldn't have any problems if they won with high diff but win with low - mid diff is bullshit imo. not only that but Natsu removed Gajeel so that he can be glorious and he mostly did it because of Lucy... I think.

the explanation is also shit. Natsu was simply on a different level than them which I find stupid. raw power is also a big reason for shitstomping. by that logic, when Laxus stomped Natsu during Festival arc(before Gajeel appeared) Natsu should have just stand up and say that he knows his movements and stomp Laxus.

My duuuuude. Gildarts wasn't serious against Bluenote? Did you not see his entrance? His veins were literally popping out of his skin due to rage as soon as the fight started. He was full on bloodlust mode even before Azuma took Tenrou's power. The difference is he didn't use any named attacks. Basically him and Bluenote were pretty much equal in basic CQC and physical power before Azuma took Tenrou's power. When the power returned both of them used their strongest known attacks and Gildarts's strongest attack was just stronger than Bluenote's which is why he won. He wasn't overwhelming Bluenote at all. If it wasn't for Azuma this would be classified as a mid diff fight at the very least. Tenrou Gildarts is far weaker than current Gildarts but that is because he was fresh from an asswhooping from Acnologia and was recovering his near mortal wounds most likely.

That's implying that Gildarts wasn't being serious from the beginning, and we have no reason to believe that. Gildarts was stronger than Bluenote, but during Tenrou Island they were on the same level.

Makarov being surprised that Laxus could take Jura simply meant that Makarov underestimated Laxus. It doesn't mean Makarov has no idea how strong Jura was. Even if Gildarts was stronger than Jura, Jura could very well have still been a match for him.

Guys I really would rather not argue with you because you make good points and every one has their own opinion.

IMHO Glidartz wasn't serious against Bluenote. His veins were literally popping out indeed, that means he was angry, but I don't think angry = go all out straight from the beginning.

It's usually the case that fighters probe/sound out the enemies' strength before they go all out. Glidartz expression may make him look bloodlusted but imo it doesn't necessarily imply he was going all out. Well as a matter of fact it is clear he wasn't goign all out because in round 2, he finished the job rather quickly (by then he was going all out).

The fight did not go as you mention: their most powerful attacks didn't clash. Glidartz clashed Bluenote's strongest attack (showing he can crash all of his magic, proving he's leagues above him) and then he punched him with his strongest attack (named empyrean maybe?) and Bluenote was out.

Also we don't know how Hades (without heart) and Bluenote compare but I think Glidartz could even beat Hades without heart. We have no proof to claim so but not to claim otherwise either.

Also @Axiomus if Makarov underestimated Laxus what makes you think he wasn't underestimating Glidartz? IMO we shouldn't pay attention to such a comparison to claim that Glidartz may have been a match for Jura because we certainly do not know. I can also se Makarov saying "well Juvia could certainly be a match to Erza" (because she was an S mage in her former guild and so on) then we saw she was fodderized by Tenrou Erza.

I respect you guys if you think Glidartz was not so above Bluenote and is not so far from Laxus, but I have my opinion too.

thing is, Makarov knows Gildarts very well. he knows how powerful Gildarts was in his prime(his young age, 20 - 30). Laxus trained for 3 months and Makarov couldn't know how powerful Laxus was until he fought Jura.

You don't have to be going all out to be serious against an opponent. For example, Natsu was serious when he fought Sting and Rogue. Was he going all out? No, because he wasn't using LFD. That doesn't mean he didn't take Sting or Rogue seriously. Similarly, just because Gildarts didn't start off with Empyrean doesn't mean he didn't take Bluenote seriously. If he didn't take Bluenote seriously, he probably would have played around with him like he did with Natsu. Remember, Empyrean is the only named move we know Gildarts has. It might actually be his best move.

Tenrou-level Gildarts is likely stronger than Laxus and Jura, but they were implied to be on the same level. That means if they fought, Laxus or Jura would be able to push Gildarts to a high difficulty match. When Makarov says that Jura would have been a match for Gildarts he's saying that based off what he saw from Jura, Jura would be able to put up a decent fight against Gildarts. Gildarts might very well still win the fight. Now it's possible Makarov could have underestimated Gildarts, but that would be because he's basing it off what he knows Gildarts can do.

Kagura was only able to get back up because Erza pushed her out of the way of the falling debris. She couldn't even move out of the way by herself, which means that she was basically as good as defeated.
No, you can clearly see Kagura getting back up here and here. The debris was falling, so Erza just moved her out of the way in time. If she was out for the count, do you think she would be able to lift that giant rock? That makes no sense.

I consider it bullshit because up until that point in the battle Kagura had been absolutely decimating Erza with her SHEATHED sword. Sure Erza got a damage boost from using Benizakura but so did Kagura by unsheathing her sword. This is the contradiction I'm talking about. Is this battle evidence that Kagura is strong because she was able to dominate Erza in both power and swordsmanship? Or is it evidence that Erza is strong because she was still somehow able to defeat Kagura afterwards? This is why bullshit feats aren't considered. Because the battle contradicts itself, and anything you use from that battle as evidence can be countered with other evidence from that very same battle.
I agree that Kagura was overwhelming Erza for most of the fight, but this battle definitely shows strengths and weaknesses for both characters. Erza won because her resolve was greater than Kagura's. Also, most of the armors Erza used in this fight were not strong armors (they are usually meant/used to decimate fodders), so while it definitely depicts Kagura as a beast, she clearly had her limitations as well, which was obvious from the very moment Erza decided to drop her defense and go on the offensive.

As you see, both characters had good and bad moments in this fight, but what ultimately settled this was their resolve.

It's still a feat that Gildarts has under his belt; we don't need much details about said incident to theorize on how he got out alive, because that's simply irrelevant. The fact that he did is an enormous feat in itself.
Also, Laxus did not one-shot Wahl. They clashed several times and were evenly matched, until Laxus got the upper hand and delivered the decisive blow. In Gildarts' case, the fight seems to have taken a much shorter outcome.

And if you are comparing Gildarts vs. Bluenote to current Gildarts, then let's not forget that one time when Natsu kicked and stomped Laxus, so such arguments won't really get us anywhere, because power scaling has evolved since then.
We don't even know the circumstances, nor was Acnolgia remotely serious. Can't be used as concrete evidence unless we're saying Tenour Gildarts>God Serena? Laxus did one shot Wahl, Laxus' blow done no damage to Wahl by his own admission. Gildarts and Bluenote isn't the same as Natsu and Laxus and you missed the entire point of the comparison, I'm not surprised.

You don't know if he would win with Hades with Devil Heart. Um...

I doubt his heart still works if he sent a few miles in the in the ocean drowning.
People need to understand that Gildarts didn't use his speed feats in the start of the fight. Near the end, he sent bluenotestinger flying against a wall. Then he got there instantly/poof speed and sent him orbit and divided the clouds. Bluenotestinger couldn't react to Gildarts speed.

Last time I checked, Gildarts just gets a quest and dips.

LFD doesn't increase Natsu's overall strength, it just increases his offensive abilities and firepower
@Firepower no pun intended:p
It's a trump card like Red Lightning, just something he uses when normal methods aren't working

I agree. LFD doesn't increase Natsu's magical power reserves. It does, however, let Natsu use stronger attacks.
He wasn't using those attacks against Sting and Rogue.

because Gildarts certainly trained to become that strong. he wouldn't be called the strongest if no one knows how powerful he is and Makarov knows the best. he wasn't immediately powerful when he was born.

Also guys as for the Acnologia and Gildarts argument, remember Acnologia just viewed Gildarts like a pest and left him for dead. He had no intention of seriously killing Gildarts.
