I sense a lot of anger in you o__O

Many things are kinda ˝dumb˝in this arc if you haven't noticed.Marin's magic does nullify spatial magic, but that's not his primary use.It allows the user to ˝own˝space and move freely through it and manipulate it. Ofc that Marin isn't like them. You don't need to have the same magic to be a counter.
If you're refering to the fact that Irene should be superior to Wendy,Then yeah,it's kinda out of nowhere, but she was shown to enchant defenses and disenchant ˝conditions˝.Everyone trained for 1 year,it's not to surprising that they have skill/spells we don't know about.

They just started fighting.Geshhh. Since Wendy saw Irene attack she saw what kind of magic she was using, while Irene was targeting Erza,Wendy jumped in and disenchanted her spell. And,since there was a huge fireball between them,Irene only saw Wendy after her fireball disappeared. Now that Irene knows Wendy can also enchant, she can use a different approach or disenchant Wendy's magic.
Let's just see how the fight goes. :D
Recent chapters trigger the salt in me. :pjsalt:pjsalt:pjsalt

Situation can turn around any time, but we know out of all three spriggans Irene is in the worst position right now. She might be called scarlet despair but she is facing the scarlet queen of hope and dreams. Wendy is going to get scaled up so much here, it isn't even funny. I wouldn't be surprised if she deals less damage than DiMaria, Neinhart and Ajeel did against those two:kappa

Didn't Zeref order Rankeid to cancel his aura magic? She should be in a good condition to fight.Besides I hope Erza&Wendy aren't enough to take her down. That would be just sad...

As for Wendy, well, you could be right, i forgot that she blocked Dimaria's full power attack. However to me, Eileen's reaction to Wendy's intervention, namely being surprised that an enchantment was used, kinda made it look like the fact Wendy could use enchantments too would be important to the battle to come.
I think she was surprised that neither were getting an orgasm, not that her attack was blocked, which goes to show that the orgasm did reduce Irenes attack power.

Well Wendy did stop her attack. What Irene does is enchant air and set it aflame, while it the last chapter it seemd as if Wendy disenchanted her attack.
She was mid-orgasm and it was very casual, plus Wendys enchantments are very powerful (her most powerful attribute). Wendy being able to "disenchant" (if thats a thing) something stronger then what she could produce doesn't make sense to me.

The whole arc was like that who was best suited to fight who(Chelia&Ultear vs DiMaria, Gray vs Invel,Lucy with Gemini/the clock spirit vs Jacob,,Gajeel with his iron-lung asspul on Bloodman etc.)
Yeah, though I think Erza will be the one who will be the perfect counter to Irene while Wendy provides extra support by offsetting some of Irenes attacks and powering-up Erza herself (and maybe serving as a distraction at times). I do think Wendy is like the third best support-type in the series, behind only Irene herself and maybe Brandish (though thats somewhat debatable).

I don't think you're giving Jacob enough credit. He' spell has the AoE bigger then the guild ( http://www.mangareader.net/fairy-tail/477/10 ) .Although it isn't instat it's not too much delayed.Maybe 1-2 second tops.
The guild isnt particularly big. These are characters who can travel close to the speed of sound, they should be capable of getting outside of that range in under a second. As for the seconds, I'd say its 1-2 seconds for the clap and magic activation itself and another 4-5 seconds before it actually transports the people within its AoE. Saying what is going on alone takes 2 seconds and it was not said the second the spell was activated nor was it the last thing to be said.

Because they use the same magic types? We've seen this happen so many times already in the course of the series so why is Wendy stopping Irene's fireball all of a sudden causing people to raise eyebrows like this?
That doesnt mean anything, if anything Irene would be the perfect counter to Wendy because shes better at enchanting.

Ultear uses Arc of Time, and she was able to nullify Dimaria's Age Seal around the area where Wendy and Sherria were. This wasn't a case of NLF like with E.N.D,it was simply because they use similar magic types.
Yeah because she is also in control of time. Its completely different. Wendy being a perfect counter to Irene makes about as much sense as a fire mage being a perfect counter to Natsu.

Marin was able to cancel Transport, because like Lessio, he uses Space Related Magic. It's similar to the same way Horologium was able to protect Lucy from the earlier Transport Lessio cast immediately he entered the Guild Hall.
Thats not the case of having same magic. Marins magic simply prioritizes above all other space-related magic, its basically his ability to be a perfect counter to those types of mages. Horologiums whole shtick is that he is immune to magic, not sure what he has to do with anything.

Erza should be at 5, but I guess thanks to Mashima she is between 3 and 5.

If anything, we have more proof/speculation to believe Gray trained a lot more.

And again, even if he didn't, then the most we can say without any bias is that Laxus and Gray trained the same amount.

Gray could have trained for more than 6 months.. who said he couldn't train during his infiltration mission in Avatar?

Gray always went off by himself, he wasn't with the Avatar members 24/7.

Nothing implies this. Gray was seen doing training with Juvia......Which by the way didn't look awfully intense. While Gray for 6 moths was at Avatar, and yes he can train while he's there but his mission is to infiltrate and report back what they were doing to Erza, he can't see what they're doing if he's constantly running off to train. Unlike Laxus who tried to train as often as he could as shown in his spin off manga.

I honestly don't understand why people are arguing with me on this... it's absurd really...

The whole reason why I've brought this up is because somebody said: Natsu > Laxus > Gray in terms of training...

I've been fair to all of you Laxus fans by saying we don't exactly know how much they trained.

So why are you guys so persistent to say Laxus did more training than Gray?

Especially when there is zero proof in the original Fairy Tail manga. Mashima showed a panel of Gray training, but that doesn't mean he is forced to train on Juvia's level.

Saying that Gray's training is on Juvia's level is like me saying that Natsu's training is on Happy's level since Happy accompanied him on his 1-year journey.

I'm really trying to be unbiased here, but I'm really starting to dislike Juvia now, especially after this bullshit reason. I knew this excuse would come up eventually...

The fact is, I'm willing to say that Laxus and Gray trained equally over the timeskip...

BUT you guys keep making it seem like there is solid evidence that Laxus improved more than Gray. Which is a baseless argument considering Gray has performed way better in this arc than Laxus has.

Say what you want, but I'm unconvinced.

As for the implication, you are wrong. There is enough evidence for us to imply Gray's training was rigorous:

Why would Mashima hype a character to crush END if he is not going to take training seriously?

This is what you call implying btw.

We know 2 things about what Gray has done in that 1 year:
1) He trained together with Juvia for about 6 months. How hard he trained in that time frame is up to our imagination.
2) after 6 months of training he went undercover in Avatar. Its not specified how much he trained there.

What we know about Laxus is that he was really determined before the timeskip (Gray too) and if i recall, Ichiya said smth about Laxus often being away from the guild for training (but im not sure if that was in the main manga or in a spin off).

Laxus training more than Gray and vice versa isnt really confirmed since we dont know the exact details but judging by their determinations, it would be weird if either of those 2 didnt train alot. I can see Gray doing some secret training while in avatar, especially since i dont think he could master the devil slayer marks in just those 6 months with Juvia.

So yea, both training the same amount of time (and intensity) doesnt seem too farfetched imo.

Yeah Ichiya said in chapter 443 that Laxus was rarely at the guild cause he's usually off training. That being said i think its a bit unrealistic to say Gray was not training hard just cause he was with Juvia, she may not be the strongest out there but she is pretty decent, i doubt she held Gray back, during that Ice Lock scene she put up a pretty good fight against DeS Gray, if they fought that hard in training i can see definite improvements

He also stomped Neinheart though. And Neinheart had his powers enhanced. I would say the power he used against Stinger >> the basic punches he used against Neinheart. While I don't think Bluenote is quite Spriggan level he is really underrated.
I would put bluenotestinger above Neinhart. When he brought back the 3 Spriggans, he told them to protect him or they will die. His body being able to take multiple attacks are slim to none, he's very very weak.

But I would give him the roasted pancake for taking down Jellal without much effort. Who in my opinion is on the level as Laxus who is above Natsu.

Bluenotestingers Gravity magic forced Natsu to use his flames because he couldn't take the spell. Gildarts, however, walked through his gravity without being pushed down like Natsu.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---
Has it been stated that Gildarts can crash any kind of physical spell no matter how strong it is. Not that i know of.
For example if Acnologia transforms into a dragon and fires a roar (an attack that theoretically should be crashable) at Gildarts, you think Gildarts can crash that? Same apllies to August, his mp is on a higher lv than that of Gildarts which enables him to produce spells that Gildarts cant crash.

Sure we have seen FT mages take out much stronger opponents tons of times but if we go by that logic we might as well say that current Natsu>Acnologia because it will happen eventually.
Ok, let's look at things panel by panel and pixel by pixel.

Gildarts two best feats are him destroying a mountain without much effort and him Empyrean.

Empyrean is a spell infused with crash magic that can send a target several kilometers into the air in less than 3 seconds. The shockwave the spell produces goes to cloud level and divides it in less than a second.

Mountain destroying punch is also a crash magic infused. He caused a mountain to crumble without much effort. I really don't want to bring up calculations because honestly, their pointless unless you're a hardcore power ranker who would go far and challeneg other universes.

(Mangapanda has soooo many ADs, is there a better site that has the entire Fairy tail story?)

Panel 1.
http://www.mangapanda.com/fairy-tail/417/2

We can see the trees in that forest are x4 the size of Gildarts.

Panel 2.
http://www.mangapanda.com/fairy-tail/417/7

There is a very nice waterfall and river flowing throughout the forest.

Panel 3.
http://www.mangapanda.com/fairy-tail/417/13

As you can see those trees are quite large, maybe even larger than that beast.

Panel 4.
http://www.mangapanda.com/fairy-tail/417/14

Ok now we have a larger view of the mountain. On the bottom right we see the river that flows don't off panel which creates the waterfall we've seen earlier. Then we see a great portion of trees as seen in the beginning of the chapter which are very large. And in this panel we see those trees aren't very large due to the mere size of that mountain. Take into account, we only see the top and one side of it. That mountain was pretty big. (There's an apple desktop background that looks like that panel but whatever)

August

Panel 1.
http://www.mangapanda.com/fairy-tail/489/6

(Btw, the top left panel is Natsu on top of Lucy, he can see him absorbing the fire which is pretty cool if you think about it)

Let's calc this, ok from the jump you can see August attack isn't larger than the mountain. So the people bringing up the spells are "too large" for Gildarts to crash on is null and void.

I literally just copied and pasted this from Narutoforum because their was a heated discussion before.

Oh just for your information, Brandish' magic worked on the likes of August so I would place her as the strongest spriggan 12. It was obvious that Augusr couldn't do it himself which is why Brandish did it. Now you're thinking well than Neinhart is stronger? No. Lady Elieens enchantments probably glitched magic from affecting him. Kinda like that.

There no being evidence in the original manga is irrelevant because we have evidence in the spin-off manga, which is canon that Laxus trained A LOT.

Comparing Natsu and Happy with Gray and Juvia isn't comparable. Gray was actually TRAINING with Juvia while Happy wasn't training WITH Natsu.

There is solid evidence, it was said Laxus was pretty much training most of the time while the said can't be said for Gray. As for Laxus not performing better than Gray.........Gray has beat Invel, the spriggan he was the best matchup for while Laxus basically one shotted the worst matchup for him out of all of the Spirggan, and don't even bring up E.N.D because if Gray didn't even devil slaying magic he would get STOMPED by E.N.D.

Training to beat E.N.D=/=Training more than Laxus.

That's BS, and you know it...

Laxus definitely trained over the timeskip, I never denied that.

I know he wasn't sitting on his belly for 12 months, but his training wasn't anything extraordinary for me to say his training > Gray's training.

As for comparing Natsu and Happy with Gray and Juvia, it is comparable. It was never stated that Gray was sparring with Juvia as their training.

That's absurd... having a companion or somebody training by your side doesn't tell anything about the individual's training.

Happy was with Natsu 24/7, so if you use the excuse that Gray trained on Juvia's level, I'm going to assume that Natsu trained on Happy's level.

There is no such evidence that Laxus trained more than Gray. It was never stated.

Gray defeated Invel in base.

Laxus inherited Red Lightning from Yuriy. He technically didn't train for it by himself.

If you assume those words are correct, Yury gave Makarov Red Lightning, who should have given it to Ivan, and then to Laxus...

You either learn magic, or you get given it via a lacrima, or tattoo.

Laxus inherited Yuri will to protect his family.. not his magic Laxus probably trained to achieve Red Lightning..

Yea that's what I meant, I was kinda being sarcastic. Even the colour of it sumbolises family/bond/blood.

It's pretty clear Laxus trained anyway, his nuke was hyped big, and his lightning bolt stopped one of Ajeel's better attacks (a lightning bolt is fairly weak for Laxus' spells).

Helpless? Hardly, he was knocked down, sure, but Levy showed up like a second later, she saved Gajeel before he even had a chance to try and get up himself. No way was Gajeel done for from that attack alone, even against Bradmans strongest curse, Over Skelter, Gajeel was not only able to escape, but he could also swim back to Levy, then swim out again carrying her with him.
The reason he could escape Over Skelter was because the Second Seal wasn't in effect, had the Second Seal not been dispelled he would have been stuck under even more skulls. As for Gajeel escaping the Second Seal, he was getting bombarded by them and they were leaving marks, he might have been able to escape it but before Bradman used a 9DG curse or Over Skelter? I highly doubt it.

Also Gajeel grabbed Levy on the way out of Over Skelter, he didn't go back.
Only reason Gajeel had such a hard time was cause Bradman was a hard counter to Gajeel's magic, being intangible is the perfect counter to a wizard who's magic revolves around attacking with physical objects.
They both had advantages but Gajeel's was greater, had Gajeel not had special lungs he would have been down in moments akin to the Thunder God Tribe and ST fodder. In comparison Bradman tanked a few hits from DF Gajeel before he died so I can confidently say that Bradman wouldn't have been in immediate danger had he been tangible for the majority of that fight.

But what do the skulls even do? Was Levy really able to dispell second seal? To me it simply seemed like the attack dissipated, as attacks generally do. Second Seal did damage to Gajeel, no question about that, but he was a long way from being defeated.

Looked like he went back for her, Levy looked to be right in the center of Overskelter, either way, being able to not only escape yourself, but go out of your way to carry someone else out too implies Gajeel had energy to spare.

More of an advantage than being completely immune to your opponents attacks? I dont think so. Being resistant to MBP's can barely be considered an advantage at all, since MBP's themselves are barely a threat worth worrying about, i would hardly call it an advantage comparable to being immune to your opponents offense.
MBPs are only enough to take out fodder, even the likes of Levy was able to fight on in spite of them for a considerable amount of time, while also tanking a couple of Bradmans attacks, in the end Bradman needed Overskelter just to put Levy down, so yeah, MBP's arent much of a factor on their own.

But what do the skulls even do?
From what's shown on panel it's used to trap people. That said, I do have a theory that they're similar to Over Skelter in that they drain life force, but that's only going by Bradman's dialog which is vague.
Was Levy really able to dispell second seal? To me it simply seemed like the attack dissipated, as attacks generally do.
Holy Attribute Magic is what made the Second Seal fade, it's no coincidence that Levy using the spell and the skulls fading are on the same panel. Bradman also says "This is... Holy Attribut Magic?!", heavily implying that's what canceled out the Second Seal.
Second Seal did damage to Gajeel, no question about that, but he was a long way from being defeated.
Agreed, I never meant that the Second Seal alone would beat Gajeel, I meant that it would hold him there long enough for Bradman to attack.
Looked like he went back for her, Levy looked to be right in the center of Overskelter, either way, being able to not only escape yourself, but go out of your way to carry someone else out too implies Gajeel had energy to spare.
Gajeel had energy to spare but he was reaching his limit, after he rescued Levy he was panting and gasping but went back to attacking Bradman once Levy told him the mask had fallen off. Even then though, Gajeel was definitely reaching his limit given that he tried a move that could have killed him.

The Thunder God Tribe would disagree, a couple of breaths had them collapsing and needing to be carried back to the guild by Freed, and he only survived because Laxus inhaled all of the MBP's nearby. Also MBP's are deadliest when a certain amount get into your lungs, that's why Levy isn't dead, had Bradman been around any longer whilst she didn't have a mask she would have died.

As for the question of being intangible vs being immune to MBP's... I think it's an equal playing field because:

1) Bradman could tank a few hits from DF Gajeel so base Gajeel's hits would be tankable anyway.
2) MBP's also weaken your magic, had Gajeel not had special lungs he would have just gotten weaker and weaker.

Tangible Bradman vs non-special lungs Gajeel would probably be over quicker than the fight in the manga, with Gajeel getting some hits in but dying due to MBP's.

I wouldn't call MBP poisoning outright fodder, but its definitely not a threat to spriggan level threats, even the low-end ones. Evergreen and Bixlow are trash, especially the pre-ts ones.

From what's shown on panel it's used to trap people. That said, I do have a theory that they're similar to Over Skelter in that they drain life force, but that's only going by Bradman's dialog which is vague.
Makes sense
Holy Attribute Magic is what made the Second Seal fade, it's no coincidence that Levy using the spell and the skulls fading are on the same panel. Bradman also says "This is... Holy Attribut Magic?!", heavily implying that's what canceled out the Second Seal.
Looking back on it she didnt actually dispell it, she destroyed some of the skulls close to her and Gajeel, but second seal was still there, with mountains of skulls everywhere else.

Agreed, I never meant that the Second Seal alone would beat Gajeel, I meant that it would hold him there long enough for Bradman to attack.

Gajeel had energy to spare but he was reaching his limit, after he rescued Levy he was panting and gasping but went back to attacking Bradman once Levy told him the mask had fallen off. Even then though, Gajeel was definitely reaching his limit given that he tried a move that could have killed him.
Agreed
The Thunder God Tribe would disagree, a couple of breaths had them collapsing and needing to be carried back to the guild by Freed, and he only survived because Laxus inhaled all of the MBP's nearby. Also MBP's are deadliest when a certain amount get into your lungs, that's why Levy isn't dead, had Bradman been around any longer whilst she didn't have a mask she would have died.
We dont know the level of MBPs that were contaminating the air with the Thunder Tribe, however we do know that even someone of Levy's caliber was able to fight on for a very decent amount of time. Levy herself stated that the Mask did absolutely nothing at all.

Tanking is a strong word, Bradman was getting demolished by DF Gajeel's punches.
As i said, the MBPs werent even enough to defeat Levy, they are barely a factor in the battle. Without DS Lungs or Intangibility Gajeel should be able to pull of a win, while in DF he didnt even use magic, if in base he were able to land named magical attacks as well as a secret art i can definitely see Bradman going down, not an easy battle, but doable.
