like I said, blitz is a crazy fan thing that talks about fight all the time. Luxus hit a multi hits, Erza hit others ... and at the end of the fight they were practically hitting each other all the time, the speed was irrelevant.
If the speed does not give a big margin against the opponent, like Acnologia against Deus Serena, then it is not something to be exalted.
Again, it depends.
The advantage that Laxus had against Erza, with his speed and attack power, were counteracted by the insane durability advantage Erza had (and her buffs of course). But if Erza wasn't the massive tank that she was, then Laxus' speed advantage would certainly have played a bigger role; but yes I agree that his speed advantage wasn't a game changer, they're still comparable to an extend in speed.
I agree that speed isn't something to be exalted, unless it's a major factor in the fight. Like Racer and Jellal for example, for whom their speed is like a part of their identity. Finding a way around their speed was something that their opponents had to think of and make plans for, i.e speed was specifically an issue there unlike most other fights in the series (eg: Gray/Lyon vs Racer, Natsu vs Jellal, Jura vs Jellal)
It's not only relevant just for extreme cases like Acno vs Serena, where Acno was like 100 tiers above Serena.
Laxus is physically stronger and Erza is physically faster. The fight was like Beserker vs Saber. Two Titans going at it and using their physical differences to one up each other.

He wasn't. Erza blitzed him twice while he need distraction to close the gap.
Erza has stamina/endurance and speed while Laxus has strength and durability.

What kinda piss poor fan logic is this? A blitz implies he speeds past her and lands and attack. Just like he did when he last fought Natsu, like he does several times during the duel with Erza, and like he did against Acno during the final battle.

I just re-read the chapters involving the fight.
Chapter 43. Laxus lands 2 attacks, Erza lands none.
Chapter 44. Laxus lands like 10 attacks, while Erza landed 2 (3 if you count the kick which Laxus countered before it did damage).
Chapter 45, a bunch of random attacks exchange. Then came Exchange of final attack.
In fact it was Erza who needed distractions to land blows. One attack she landed (the one you linked) was a counter attack, before which Erza was constantly on the defensive. While the second one, with Natsu and Erza swords, caught Laxus by surprise.
Laxus has stamina (unless you have a different understanding of stamina, IMO stamina = magic power), strength, speed and attack power. Erza has endurance (durability), she basically tanked through everything Laxus put her through, because she's a massive tank.
Erza giving Laxus an extreme diff was a result of her insane durability and her buffs.

Bro, what are you talking about? Seriously? He doesn’t wait every time she gets near. He neatly dodged her spear thrust and punished her for it. He continued to react faster than her the entire fight. She has 2 moments where she has the speed advantage and that’s it. An one is questionable.

Yeah, he waits for her to get near him to attack her. When he wants to move in close he used his lightning to distract her. He didn't as I showed above he gets outright blitzed before he can even react. Neither are questionable lol. She has better speed than Laxus. Even in their clash off she threw more hits than he did.

Chapter 43 was a skirmish. Real fight doesn't start till 44.
Chapter 44 Laxus lands 7 hits while Erza lands 9.
She blitzes Laxus and lands 5 consecutive attacks before he can react.
I don't see how her speed is not better when she can land more attacks before Laxus can react to them while he can only hit her one at a time. Also I don't count the punch to the face bcs it didn't connect (Erza would be able to not flinch from a punch from Laxus otherwise).
Chapter 45 highlights her speed over him as well. Erza lands 10 hits while Laxus lands six in their clash off.
Even in the panel below that one she lands 2 hits to his 1 hit.
Durability is how much you can take before you start getting hurt. Endurance is how much you can take before you go down. Magic power wise they are equal. Speed wise Erza is better and strength wise Laxus is better. Endurance wise Erza is better and durability wise Laxus is better.
Also where did Erza distract Laxus? He was never distracted in the fight lol.

Bro, that’s the most blatant fanboying I’ve ever seen. You just gave Erza 6 attacks for 3 slashes, you legit tried to count her landing as another hit. That’s why you disagree with everything everybody says, you reason ya own manga bruh.
Dude, you ignore that Laxus is tanking sword strokes to rain punches. An you’re just randomly assigning drawn arcs to characters. I also notice you ignored the number of spells he gets out in the time it takes to her requip and cast 1.
Laxus clearly shows he’s putting way more power into his blows, as well as consistently faster than her. I’d also give him the durability and endurance nods since he’s tanking sword slashes not punches.
Erza’s stats were boosted 3 seperate times. She used the Dragon Slayer seal via Wendy. An she used both Natsu and Gray to amp the only major blow she lands the entire fight. We've discussed this already.

Dude, wtf?
How did:
L:2 E:1
suddenly jump to
L:3, E:6?
Lol. It should've been L:3, E:2
That's a single attack.
Oh wait, you counted the number of slashes in that one attack? I mean, if we're going by that logic, Erza has countless injuries over her body lol. I count that as a single attack.
If we count separate instances of attacks, Laxus had 7 and Erza had 2 or 3. In chapter 44
The panel you linked in chapter 45 is a reach lol. The panel was supposed to be showing that they're exchanging blows, I'm pretty sure Mashima didn't care about the number of white lines there, he just drew as many lines as he wanted.
At that point
Yes, Laxus is above her in speed. If you're talking about pure CQC, discarding speed, then yes Erza is superior. Which is understandable, given that's she's a pure physical fighter.
In pure speed, Laxus > Erza
In pure CQC, Erza > Laxus (the "five consecutive slashes" you bought up comes in here)
Combining speed and CQC, which is actual combat speed, Laxus > Erza. The hit ratio, of separate instances, is 7:2 or 7:3. Add onto that, the fact that Laxus actually dodged/countered multiple attacks from Erza, while Erza did just one block (blocking Laxus' punch with both arms). It's pretty clear who's superior in combat speed.
Oh ok. Then Laxus > Erza in durability, and Erza >> Laxus in endurance.
In MP, Laxus is superior to Erza. Laxus dished out more attacks, wasted some magic on Kyria, and still had a small amount left. While Erza was out of magic power.
Oh come on, we've gone over this before. We know for a fact that source of Dragon Seal is Wendy. Dragon Seal does either of the three:
- buff her stats
- give her attack boost against DS
- does nothing.
Logically, it has to be first or second option IMO. But I remember, you chose the third
Natsu and Gray swords = boost to attack power. Sure, she knows how to enchant. But, the source of Natsu and Gray swords are Natsu and Gray, she needs their powers to enchant them onto her swords. She pre-prep'd it because they're faving Dragon Gods and Dragon Eaters.
He counted the slashes lol.
I mean, it's possible to argue in favour of Erza's CQC with that.
But, for overall combat speed, we have to count separate instances of attacks.
And that ratio is: 7:2 or 7:3
Laxus dodged/countered multiple attacks from Erza, while Erza succeeded only on one instance
Separate slash marks means she landed multiple attacks. You don't count different hits as 1 just bcs it happened in the same time frame as each other. Like you guys are blantantly ignoring she had to attack 5 different times in order slash him in 5 different places. You guys clearly ignore panels so I'm not going to waste my time further.
I don’t know what you guys are smoking, but what @Jko nicely illustrated seems fine to me. The point he’s making is about speed, and in that 1-6 jump, she landed five decent blows/cuts before he reacts. You could call it a combo move, but the blows are there.
I miss the golden age of MH...… Back when Alvarez arc was still running. Power levels were bullshit then too, but man did we have a good time. Now I feel like a stranger or an old man coming back to this place every once in a while lmao
Yo @Jko my boy, I see you still on that 1 vs everyone debate mission. Glad that not everything has changed around here.

I don't think I ever foresaw the day where I go in 1 v everyone debate over Erza. Guess age changes us. Next time you come by I'll probably be 1 v everyone debate over Jellal. Well I'll probably have @Ebony Maw to back me up .

Would this count as 9 attacks or as a single attack. I'd say, a single attack
It's a combo move. Remember that Erza is someone who solely relies on her swords (because fuck armour at this point lol). OF course she'll have these moves. At best, you can say it's a good CQC feat, and make the argument that Erza > Laxus in pure CQC (I wouldn't disagree there). This would be similar to Bacchus being able to throw multiple punches simultaneously, cause that's his main ability - CQC.
What I'm talking about is combat speed, and general speed to an extend.
There were 7 instances where Laxus attacked, to Erza's two or three.
Laxus dodged/countered multiple attacks from Erza, while Erza failed in dodging/countering attacks from Laxus, for the most part.
It's not hard to see why Laxus is superior in combat speed.
