Yep, the new trope of high MP with hax, but fodder stats.

Until Alverass, high MP and fodder stats was the exception. Mostly, characters had stats that matched their MP.
This became the norm than exception since Alverass

Makes fights very lame.

They seem to rely to much on their magic.
Now hax opponent fights can be good if done right like Midnight for example

Depends on the hax. Hax like those of Dimaria, Brandish, Jacob etc are absolute trash. How do you even counter those shit, unless you're powerful enough to outright resist their hax?
Unless you know time magic Dimaria no diff'd you by just clicking her teeth. Jacob no diff's anyone by just clapping his hands. Brandish no diff'd anyone by just exploding their organ. Wtf are these?

Depends on the hax. Hax like those of Dimaria, Brandish, Jacob etc are absolute trash. How do you even counter those shit, unless you're powerful enough to outright resist their hax?

Only reliable way is to be so powerful, that the hax fails lol, which is what Natsu did. Natsu had to overpower the timestop hax to beat it. If it were not for his overwhelming MP, he would've been toast, head chopped off before he even knew it.

Nah, Jacob's is horrible as well. Clapping hands is arguably faster than clicking teeth for these characters lol, since the speak at normal speed while they attack at superhuman speed. It's as bad as timestop, if not worse. Which is why the character had to be made retarded. This is how Natsu & Lucy vs Jacob would've gone if Jacob wasn't a complete retard - Ok, Lucy's spirit saved them first time, but that's a one time only......he just would've clapped again and that's it, Natsu and Lucy gets one shotted.

Jacob vs Mira would've been the same - Ok, Mira interrupted the first clap. So what? Clap again and she's one shot. Which Jacob never bothered to do, because CIS. Mashima had to make Jacob literally retarded for him to not solo every good guy except a very few, who would have high enough MP to resist the hax.

Curse is a variation of magic, as stated by Mard. So, I'd say it's pretty equivalent. Also, it was just END persona taking over, Natsu was continuously demonizing in his fight vs Gray, so I'd guess that Natsu still used MP back then.

Overwhelming MP will resist hax. Enchanted Neinhart resisting Brandish is proof of that, if you don't want to consider Natsu resisting Dimaria.

What other variation of MP is there, besides curse? Spirior? We'll have to see more to see if there is any connection here.

Sure. It's extremely situation tho. Having time magic allows you to resist timestop. Anti spatial magic like Marin's allow you to resist clap hax, and maybe even Branidsh's magic.

But these are very rare. If not for these exceptions, their hax is insta one shot. That's just stupid, it breaks the verse you're writing.

He's nearly immune to all magic and can copy most magic instantly. He can simply use Midnight's refraction, which he copied, to be immune to tools too lmao, if not for CIS.
This is why August vs Gildarts was bullshit. August could've ended Gildarts in a second if not for CIS.

The only "counter" is using tools, in the sense that it can bypass the immunity given by copy. But the issue is.......... it is 100% countered by Midnight's refraction LMAO. August copied refraction ON SCREEEN, so there is really no excuse.

August also, realistically, should have all Spriggan's abilities, except for Bradman (curse), Wahl (machine) and maybe Serena (lacrima).
Which means, the guy should have the next 3 OP hax I mentioned lmao. Gildarts vs August should've ended instantly with August one shotting him by clap hax, or timestop, or organ burst.

The only real counter to August, is the generic counter to all haxes.........to be overwhelmingly more powerful than him to the point copy, refraction etc won't be able to negate the spells.

He's literally invincible within his tier because of his ability. This character shouldn't exist. Don't get me wrong though, I don't have an issue with the "copy" part of his ability, that's the reason he's the magic king after all (though it shouldn't immediately make him a master of the spell he just learned compared to mages who worked YEARS on those spells).
But, to instantly negate the spell he just learned? Just plain BS.
