After they collapse, it was an initial reaction.
Because it looked like Laxus won at the time. Than later said they both beat each other up(tie)

Yes, I've said this like 4 or 5 times now.

That is true and I’m sorry, i thought you were saying if both parties collapsed it’s a tied which isn’t always the case

Natsu beat his opponent with his actual attacks. They didn't collapse from exhaustion like Erza did so no, Laxus didn't beat Erza with his actual attacks, she was downed due to exhaustion just like he went down right after her due to exhaustion. Neither beat the other which directly stated by the author in the chapter cover. It's pretty open and shut with no room for fan interpretation. 😐

thats good writing hiro part

but imo laxus won. i never seen some1 "collapses" the way laxus did i mean who collapses by sitting down. i understand he ran out of magic and also said 'thats my line"but erza actually collapse and did it first while laxus didnt.

I'm truly disappointed that many seem to overlook the character development that Mashima has shown with Erza and Laxus. Laxus went from the cocky, arrogant jerk with a chip on his shoulder who prioritised power over all else and desires to be acknowledged as the strongest. To a much kinder, and humble man. It was explained to us that Kyria's hypnosis blade was ineffective on him was due to the fact that Laxus regards himself as weak. When we, the readers and fanbase, know full well that couldn't be any further from the truth. It would thus be best to take what Laxus says about himself with a pinch of salt. Erza, on the other hand, succumbed to Kyria's hypnosis blade. It was also pointed out that Erza's artificial eye was what allowed her to reduce the duration of the effect of the spell by half the time. Otherwise she would be vulnerable under its effect for significantly longer.

During their fight, the multiple panels that showed us Erza's internal monologue as she struggle to come to terms how Laxus is constantly overwhelming her is enough evidence that she did not have a good grip with reality to begin with. In contrast, Laxus was never in disbelief over Erza's powers. When Erza busted out the Benizakura blade and eventually the twin swords, Laxus was intrigued but you could tell he was thinking 'Nice . . that's Erza for you'. He even asked Erza if she had any other attacks up her sleeve before she KO and didn't look surprise if she does. He rated Erza extremely highly and fought with the mindset that she is at least as strong as him. He valued her dearly as a comrade, as he was pissed when he found out somebody inflicted those serious wounds on her. He remarked out loud that he will settle the score with that assailant not knowing it was him. This was a far cry from the Laxus who mocked and downplayed Erza during the BoFT arc, while insulting her face being ugly when she was struck down by him.

In contrast, Erza fought with initial mindset that she could handle and defeat Laxus without having to go all out. She was in utter disbelief when the lightning empress armour was destroyed, her attacks rendered useless on him, getting sent flying across the cathedral by Laxus' attacks. She then stopped holding back and was eventually able to fight on an even ground with Laxus. The fight with Laxus taught her a lesson and at the end of it, she recognises that her thinking was erroneous and she is actually weaker than Laxus. For Erza to eat the humble pie and do a 180 turn on her stance is a remarkable change for her. Erza then fainted. Laxus took a seat on the ground before giving Erza her fair dues. That was in character with his portrayal. Then he faints too. Despite fainting later, Laxus woke up much quicker and carried Erza on his back whilst fighting against the horde of Wolfen's duplications. When Erza woke up much later, she could barely move without hurting due to her injuries. Let's not forget Laxus fighting Kyria beforehand too. Otherwise, he likely will not even faint at all.

You have only put Laxus's Disadvantage, but you haven't put Erza's Disadvantage.

Disadvantage...

Laxus's Disadvantage - He lost some magic in his previous match.

Erza's Disadvantage - She was fighting with a friend and she couldn't deal fatal blows to her friend.
Erza received many unfair blows because of this.

At Laxus's Disadvantage- he could have stayed awake at the end of the fight.

At Erza's disadvantage - She could have won (or nearly so) in the fire and ice sword slash.

Now advantage...

Laxus Advantage - Laxus was fighting an enemy and he didn't hold back at all.

Erza's Advantage - Erza had a bit more magic than him.

Simplifying

For the fight to be fair, it should be
Both in the same condition.
that is to say.

Friend vs friend and with all its magic.
enemy vs enemy and with all its magic.

but in truth it was ...
Round 1
Friend (Erza holding back) vs enemy (Laxus without holding back but with a little less magic)
Erza received many blows and she was unable to deliver fatal blows to her friend.

Round 2
Friend (Erza without holding back) vs enemy (Laxus without holding back)
They both sold out.

And then there is the "Laxus woke up earlier" and "he had magic to fight" ... and that is very well explained about the restoration of Touka's magic towards the others characters.

He woke up not by himself, neither Mirajane, Elfman and some. They were restored, like Jubia was in magic. Or it is really miraculous they woke up all at the same time, when Mira, Elfman and Laxus were clearly out just before.

Even Mirajane was in a Ko state and injured and exhausted alongside Elfman, but right into the next chapter she was brand new and she casting powerful magics.

Laxus never sat down, his legs gave out right before he passed out. He got up quicker bcs of the WW's hypnosis being dispelled and as seen everyone under the WW's hypnosis woke up despite being passed out beforehand.

The fight was a tie and labelled as a tie. This isn't some tournament where the opponent who fell first loses, this is an actual battle in which both opponents passed out without delivering a final blow.

Laxus was also never at a disadvantage. Dropping 0.1% of some magic to waste fodder like Kiria would have done nothing to his MP reserves. Unless stated so, Laxus dropping one spell to fodderize Kiria didn't do anything to weaken him during the fight with Erza. If he was weakened then the author would have stated it, like he did when Mira fought Gray.

Jesus, I don't really get why you guys are so against the match being a tie when the author and characters stated the fight was a tie.

Dude barely exhausted any power against Kyria. Maybe 1% if we're being generous.

I didn’t think about it until you mentioned it but why did their magic get restored because unless Touka magic had some kind of had a side effect (probably not the right words) with her magic where once she loses control of them not only will they go back at being normal but their magic gets restored almost like they didn’t use that much before

I thought this was the case until I went back and re-read some of the fights. Some of them were exhausted.

I don't know exactly how the magic restoration thing goes.
But what is known is that those who were controlled and Exhausted instantly returned in full magic and were restored.

Jubia, for example, took her magic back.
Mirajane was Ko, hurt and exhausted and right after she was new and full of magic, she made huge explosions.
Like Elfman.
Gajeel was also exhausted and injured and there he was good as new.
Max and the others were unconscious and defeated inside the cocoons Nebal made and they were all awake and as good as new.

Exactly. Everyone that was battered and ko'd was brought back with enough MP to fight Metro and the others at the same time.

Laxus v Erza was a tie through and through.

You are right, Bugen. If I can complete, I think it is such theory but, as Touka (Faris) had complete control on her puppets (Mind and Magic in which she can up to the max or to the lowest), the MP used by the puppets can be stolen by Faris and then, can't be restore naturally by Ethernanos. This is why Jubia couldn't use her Magic. Puppet's Magic is seal once used.

When Faris lost control by being trap, puppets revert back to normal and all the magic sealed returned back into people. So they were restored in Magic and mind, like they were never under control. This is perhaps why people have a blank to what happen and where they are.

It's only theory but this is how I understand it.

Remember, when Faris took Mercphobia under control, the Dragon God was under 50% of his real power and wasn't aware he was under control. And on the other side, Faris could use Water Magic. So I think, the 50% of Mercphobia's magic used, perhaps for his kingdom, passed and was seal in Faris as well.

After his defeat, Merc couldn't restore his magic anymore, like Jubia :
