I agree.

Can you tell me the difference between "Flames of Emotions" and "PoF" ?
Natsu's rage enhances his Magic and Heat's Fire so it's a Power of Feeling as well. Just like Erza when she wants to save people and turns nearly unstoppable (Power of Love) and yes Gray's Darkness is also PoF with negative feelings. I don't see the difference between Erza and Gray with Natsu. Only the Feeling's Nature is different but remain the same fonctions for the characters.

Yes, Gray has darkness with all traumas, like Erza had in her heart when she hides under her armors, and this is why she is so strong under circumstances as she didn't want to fail to save people anymone, like she did as a child. But I still think Devil Slayer's mode feeds him and puts him gradually more into his darkness until loosing control. Agree that going insane can be a physical discomfort, but I think it's more psychological, like facing his nightmares inside.

Power of emotions is available to everyone because magic power comes from love. You know when characters sometimes "connect hearts" and start hearing voices of their loved ones? That's our cue for when a character is using power of emotions.

Flames of emotions is an actual type of fire magic. Functionally, it does pretty much the same thing as power of emotions. Flames of emotion is in play basically every time Natsu uses fire, because it's the magic he's using, whereas power of emotions isn't as predictable to trigger.

Some Magics Have exceptions such As black magic with darkness inside of them and Curse power which is fueled by negative emotions.

and Flames of Emotions are to increase the intensity of his flame’s heat, not necesarily the same as power of feelings which makes one stronger.

There's one point in the series I always wasn't sure on how to perceive.

After the 7 year timeskip, when the team got their 2nd origin unlocked, it seemed like Erza was the only one not affected by Ultear's magic.

Later on during the GMG, we see her releasing 2nd origin, implying that she wasn't using it before.

So does this mean that Erza during early GMG has the same strength as during Tenrou? This would seem weird, since as seen in the confrontation of Natsu vs Max, ALL of team Natsu was quite behind in terms of power, and needed to powerup.

If Erza indeed stayed the same, then she really didn't need to powerup, since even her "Tenrou self" was on par with Kagura, who is one of the top fighters in GMG.

Another counterpoint to this theory is the fact that Bacchus was said to be PreSkip Erza's equal, and later on we see that he is quite below the likes of Kagura & Erza.

Also, did Erza even get stronger after activating her 2nd origin? It didn't seem to change much except for her being able to summon Nakagami armor.

What do you guys think?

Love is not the only feeling.
- Refusing to fail saving people anymore is Erza's feeling to boost her power. It climax with Love for her people.
- Darkness, pain and anger are Gray's feeling to boost his power. It climax with Love for his People.
- Rage is Natsu's feeling to boost his power. It climax with Love for his people.

All are PoF. It's not only about earing People's voices inside you. It's Resolution and Determination's Power to break through a Wall. Of course the Climax of this power is Love as the first Magic is Love. PoF is, by definition, to break a Wall for saving friends and lovers, which push the character to do an impossible thing from his classic stats.

Natsu's magic is not different. His fuel is his anger. Anger is emotion. More he enters in wrath, more his fire is hot until changing in Dragon Force, his climax one. Increasing the intensity of the Heat increases Fire Magic of the Fire Dragon Slayer one. So his anger makes him stronger. Just like Pain and Darkness for Gray or Resolution for Erza. PoF is a boost of stats. Love is the Climax feeling because people are not strong for himself/herself, but for others. This is the meaning of Fairy Tail. And Erza's explanation to Azuma when she answers him about her strength.

Still, the name itself speaks for it : "Flames of EMOTION".

Flame of Emotion is Natsu's climax PoF : ultimate Wrath combine with Love (to save people until sacrifice a arm in action).
Just like Erza facing Deus Sema : ultimate Determination to unfail to save people (Trauma from childhood inside the Tower of Heaven) with Love (she is ready to suicide herself for her friends).

I think yes everyone can tap into PoF to boost stats like Adrenaline. But only few can climax until play their own life for others. As exemple, Gajeel couldn't do a move to protect Reby who is pregnant in front of Natsu. Yes, he was injured and no MP but still. By analogy, Erza could only move one arm facing Deus Sema and used it as a suicidal weapon for her friends. That is the difference between characters.

The climax level also depends on their "hidden potential". Erza and Natsu have huge hidden potential. And I think Gray as well as he rivaled END.

Flames of emotion converts emotion into MP. It's generally used to make hotter Flames, yes. But it doesn't have to be.

Sure, love is not the only emotion. But it is the strongest. It's also the emotion that really matters when we talk about PoF. It really is all about hearing the voices of your loved ones. Erza connected hearts with Jellal when she got back up against Azuma. Natsu heard everyone's voice when he faced off against Zero. The dragon slayers heard the voices of their loved ones when they broke free from Acnologia's crystals. Natsu and Erza were channeling Makarov's dying words in their fights in Alvarez.

In fact, the reason why love is the strongest is probably because it connects your hearts with other people. You're not just drawing strength from your own emotions, but also from the people who love you. When you use negative emotions like anger or darkness, you don't connect with anyone.

Natsu's magic is different. This was stated in the chapters he fought Erigor. Flames of emotion is an ancient spell (which is magic from 400 years ago) that turns emotion into MP. This was stated to be unusual. Power of emotions is like adrenaline. Everyone can tap into it under the right circumstances. Flames of Emotion is like the Hulk's powers. It's literally an ability that's on all the time. Functionally they do the same thing, but flames of emotion is an actual part of Natsu's dragon slaying magic whereas power of emotions is separate from....say, requip magic.

I never understood how durability works in FT. Can someone explain to me? First, in the Aldoron arc Natsu suffered damage against Gajeel. But Natsu in the base form was doing fine against God Seed Aldoron(provided weakened Aldoron was not on Gajeel level), even tanking a few punches until he resorted to his thicket of arms. In Alvarez, Natsu took minor cuts from amp neinhart's wind attack but was able to tank Acno's attack with no damage. If you can tank attacks from stronger foes shouldn't you just remain completely unharmed against weaker foes? Does Natsu foe increase his durability? @Axiomus what do u think?

most durability cases are plot device, if the character in question is in a final fight, he will endure everything that is thrown in his head, but if it is by hype tool vilain, he will lose easily.

Everyone has regular human durability unless they use magic to somehow enhance their bodies. Generally speaking, dragon slayers have enhanced durability because their magic enchants their bodies with the qualities of a dragon. For Natsu, there isn't a huge difference in durability between base, LFD, or FDK. Flames of emotions don't directly increase Natsu's durability. It increases his MP, which mostly goes into making his flames hotter. It may indirectly increase his durability if he uses that MP to sustain dragon force.

Not all signs of damage is immediately visible in the way cuts are. Natsu felt that he needed to guard against Acnologia's finger blast, but felt that he could face-tank Neinhart's winds. Also, a stronger opponent doesn't necessarily mean every single attack is stronger. You have to keep in mind that Acnologia was just toying with the dragon slayers. Even if the finger blast didn't do more damage than Neinhart's winds, his roar certainly did. The roar brought Natsu to his knees, and injured the 6 other dragon slayers to the point they couldn't keep fighting. And Acno wasn't even being serious with the roar either. Likewise, Aldoron was pretty much toying with Natsu until he started using thicket. After Aldoron got serious, he could open up wounds against DF Natsu when they traded punches.

Of course Mashima would find a way to save them cause of plot armour.

But at least, Acno this time had a valid excuse that doesn't reply on plot armour
So what do you think about Acno and Irene before getting DS? To me, Mightylogia was still powerful. He was able to heal Fodderlogia. He just couldn't damage him but at least somehow affected them.

all SO boost were the same. infact they were most likely equal to three months training other got (like laxus and gajeel)

yes tenrou erza and gmg erza are the same. SO erza is alot stronger. we barely saw her in gmg but saw her tartarus arc.

ALL of team Natsu was quite behind in terms of power, and needed to powerup

not all
though forum hates to think something like this, but erza was alot stronger than natsu pre ts. i mean alot. natsu did fall back in power. but erza still remain head and shoulder above pretty much everyone.
other than jura,
kagura, minerva and orga were all weaker than tenrou erza.

mishma mentioned two people who didnt need training to compete in gmg. and then showed erza also didnt need a power up to compete in it.
erza is most likely the only characters who might have won gmg without any training, if she hadnt sacrificed her leg for kagura

I mean, it was the first time flames of emotion was ever mentioned... And the definitive statement on what it is. Mashima still remembers what he wrote about dragon slaying magic in chapter 1.

Dragon slaying magic is like the most common magic in fairy tail Manga.
But after lullyby arc
We had gulana arc, phantom arc, heaven arc, fighting festival arc, os arc, edolas arc, tenrou arc, gmg arc, tartarus arc
And then finally in alverzec arc we hear flames of emotions again
That is all of the manga between these two mentions of flames of emotions.
And it's not like natsu didn't need powerup in those. He required them in every arc. But again no mention of flames of emotion. Even igneel didn't use or we didn't notice him using flames of emotion.

I think it wouldn't be far fetch to believe that mishma forgot about it.

when
half the time natsu was getting power up from external source.
so that is heaven arc, OS arc, tenrou arc (x2 once against zancrow once against hades), gmg arc
and in edolas he got power from the future i think :teehee

and of course rest of the times he might have had pof not flames of emotion, because they might be two different things
