Extreme diffWhat diff was natsu vs laxus?
Extreme diffWhat diff was natsu vs laxus?
From the creators mouth himself in the recent livestream: "Gray is about the same strength as Natsu according to his setting". Like I've said before, just like Erza is set to be stronger than the main character and Gildarts is set to be the strongest in ft, Gray is always set to be equal to Natsu. It's literally part of his characterization. The only difference is that Natsu is the main character, so he gets main character powerups. Aside from those they are equal.

So who should we believe?Don't share anything you see on twitter. The original translator of this live stream is this person. and people steal their work.
It just proves how disconnected Mashima is from his own Manga, I still remember when he said Natsu has great character development when the original manga is over.

Yes she is reliable, and I know her, she understands Japanese, and as you said, she was the one who translated that firstThe other tweet seems to have been made first. Anyone can translate really.
Gray should get in line, Mashima better show some love to Jellal and Mira before, they've been waiting for so longMaybe Hiro will reconsider and start treating gray better
But you have to remember Natsu was having some trouble against Skullion as well during that time. One of the big differences between Natsu and Gray is that Natsu seem to grow fasterSo who should we believe?

Honestly I can't see gray being equal to natsu. Gray lost to skullion who stalemated Mira. Current natsu is around suzaku level of strength. Is mashima trying to tell us that if gray fought suzaku it would have ended the way it ended with natsu. Suzaku is really powerful and that's not a joke all ddsk hype and scaling started from suzaku. I agree with @Raven it feels mashima is disconnected with the manga his writing. Mashima said gildarts is to strong for the setting but we have two gildarts level opponent. How does that even work?
Mira already whooped gray's ass. Jellal by default is relative to Erza and laxus. Gray really needs somethingGray should get in line, Mashima better show some love to Jellal and Mira before, they've been waiting for so long

Yeah, youre right, it is canon. But still, for us readers, feats are important. If the manga or the author says that some characters are extremely strong then it's just a hype, if this character never shows something or doesn't have a fight to prove their strength, then it's useless, regardless of what the manga or the author says. The reality of the manga is what's considered canon. And canonically Gray is the same strength as Natsu. Authors words >>>>> whatever headcanon we do here. And I bet Jellal is also around the same strength as Erza and Laxus.
Yeah, and that with Gildarts is something I hate. Not only in FT but overall in other mangas too. It's okay to hype a character, but some day you should show his power and what he can do and not only off screen or most part of the fight off screen, like you said about Gildarts. In Gildarts case I believe Hiro doesn't give him a real fight because he can't draw it. How should he draw a good fight with Gildarts magic? But it's not only him, Jellal too, but his magic he could draw and that in an epic way. It's not accentuated every arc but then again neither are most things in the manga. Characters like Gildarts are built up 95% by statements (he only has like 3 fights in the entire series and one of them was mostly offscreen). Gray just had a good fight last arc and his heavy knights showed that his power rivaled Natsu's. I will say that Gray hasn't done much this arc but Natsu didn't have any fight last arc either So I guess Mashima just wanted to take this arc to give him more spotlight. I was waiting for Gray and Gajeel to do something significant this arc but it seems to be ending in a couple of chapters with the Dogramag fight. At least Mashima used them for the setup of the next opponent so they will likely be heavily involved in the coming fight against Gold Owl. Last time we had a setup like this for a new guild it was Tartaros so I'm expecting some good action for them next arc.
Or maybe he is just is too powerful like gildartz has a op magic power lot of characters can’t do anything I mean look vs august if august didn’t have an op magic himself he would have been dead. Gildartz can pretty much low diff almost any1Yeah, and that with Gildarts is something I hate. Not only in FT but overall in other mangas too. As for Gray and Gajeel. Gray's heavy knights spell was good, but this is a spell that should be shown more often and what this spell really can do and is that his strongest spell? What else can he do? Same with Gajeel, when has he shown something new? So I hope that both of them will have a good fight in the next arc and I hope in Grays case, that it will not be an ice enemy again....

Which is why alot of people shouldn’t take this manga seriously lol power scaling is trashFrom the creators mouth himself in the recent livestream: "Gray is about the same strength as Natsu according to his setting". How did he's heavy knights show he's relative to natsu because of some Carla statement. Natsu in aldoron arc was fighting non stop. He literally fought for four chapters straight without rest, wdym heavy knightsIt's not accentuated every arc but then again neither are most things in the manga. I just think Hiro should stop answering power scaling questions. I mean you don't see Kubo or oda telling us how strong the MC is. The fights does the talking. Hiro just trying to appeal to gray fans when in reality that's not the case. The worst thing is that I'm sick and tired of all this natsu is the strongest when the story demands it, according to natsu there's difference between normal spar and fighting to kill. In normal spar sure he's gray's equal but when the guild is in danger it's a very different case. According to Hiro gray and gajeel should be around suzaku level of strength which is impossible because gray himself considered suzaku as someone they couldn't hope to beat at the moment. Hiro should either stop trying to answer this kind of questions or say the truth.Or maybe he is just is too powerful like gildartz has a op magic power lot of characters can’t do anything I mean look vs august if august didn’t have an op magic himself he would have been dead. Gray had a low diff fight with laxus bodyguards lmao. Natsu fought for four chapters straight without rest. Stop trying to say gray is equal to natsu, that kind of thinking is completely bogus. Are you trying to tell me gray can give suzaku a high diff fight? I'm even going to ask you now suzaku vs gray who's stronger? The scaling isn't trash just because it doesn't agree with your feelings. Literally every time Gray and Natsu have been mentioned together in the same breath in the sequel, they are implied to be on par with each other.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---
The large scale of heavy knights was what made them compare him to natsu and I don't know if you've noticed but barely anyone does magic that big in the sequel so it was a big feat. Heavy knights and everything else he did against Hakune like resist powernull that took out Natsu and break out of her illusion through sheer willpower showed his power rivaled Natsu's
Literally everyone fought "non stop" in the Aldoron arc if you call getting one revival after being nearly dead and getting chapters of rest before your next fight non stop. Gray had multiple fights as well and one of them involved nerfing Natsu's opponent so I'm not seeing your point.

Ok let’s go with canonical feats that happen in the manga df natsu beat nerf Aldron do u think gray=df natsu? u think gray can perform the same feat? But Natsu hasn't beat Ignia in a 1v1. Canonically he's not even close to dragon god level. If you're gonna critique to scaling then mention things that have actually happened not fantasy situations. "What if Lucy soloes Ignia. That means Gildarts could take all dragon gods at once." Questions like those are irrelevant as they have nothing to do with what's actually happening in the story. If Natsu ever does 1v1 Ignia(at full power), that means he'll have to get significantly stronger. And as the trend follows everyone else in team Natsu would get significantly stronger as well.
Yeah, maybe, but in the end it would be the same case. Gildarts is hyped to be the strongest and yes, his magic is really powerful, and maybe too hard to draw in a real fight. It still sucks that his strength comes only from statements, I want to see a real fight from him to see how powerful he really is. In the end Hiro can say at the end of the 100YQ manga, after Natsu beat Ignia or whoever will be the last enemy, "Gildarts is still stronger than Natsu". And I hate such statements. I need proofs.Or maybe he is just is too powerful like gildartz has a op magic power lot of characters can’t do anything I mean look vs august if august didn’t have an op magic himself he would have been dead. Gildartz can pretty much low diff almost any1

Wow I'm not even going to bother again. You're on some serious copeAldoron was nerfed so hard that he couldn't even do much damage to base Natsu with his punches. Most of the high tiers in the guild would have been able to beat Aldoron in that state.
