Do you have an idea of how effective the leveling system should be? How many characters do you want reaching level 10?
Honestly, not many. In that regard I'd take the Lv 6 characters as basis and let them get to lv 10 if they face another lv 6 character in every round of the season (modifier excluded), something like that.

Also, instead of characters having individual growths, it might be easier if growths were tied to playstyle. All-rounders would be more even, aggressive baseliners would focus on power, and so on.
Well, it would certainly be easier, but at the same time, I think it'd end up being kinda weird for at least a decent amount of characters. Especially within the all rounders, there are just too many variations within their spreads to combine them all like that. That said, doing them individually won't be a lot of work, especially for the HSers since they only have a couple possibilities each time to begin with - I can do those pretty quickly.

What I'm interested in getting everyone's input on though is upgrades outside of stats. So something like Kai unlocking DSS. It doesn't have to be entirely new abilities either, it'd make sense to increase the firepower of some Specials as the character grows stronger in general, or even parts of Autos. For example, Shiraishi could get a higher negation point upon reaching a certain level.

As some sort of hobby I'm doing fan league profiles of basically anyone that isn't in the fan league. If you get slightly curious let me know, lol.

I mean, post them. Maybe they'll get added or form the basis for something else.

Might be a tad optimistic in some cases? To be honest, I don't see any of those guys having a 5 in anything considering they aren't among the top MSers and didn't go through the camp training either. I'm sure they did improve since the nationals, but not to the same extent as everyone who got invited.

I pictured their stats as how they could be had they been invited to the camp tbh. If we take all of this perfectly seriously I feel that nowadays Kadowaki would stomp anyone that wasn't invited.

I only gave a 5 to Tetsu (which aint... That crazy isnt it?) and Taki's was mostly for the fun of it, can totally be decreased.

Fair enough.

Well... if we assume he went through camp training, then no, it's not. But without I feel it's a bit of a stretch to be honest. Tetsu was weaker than Kawamura even back during the nationals (despite Moujuu giving him a boost) and Kawamura has a 5 after going through the camp. Personally I'd probably put Tetsu at 4 base I think, maybe 4.5 if we wanted to compare it a bit to Kaidou and Jackal.

Ah was very affraid of using .5s so I avoided them like plague, but it can be easily be used with that yeah (and he could gain that extra .5 in speed to fit your traingle? Idk)

You really thought Kiraku and Aoi could reach 14 and 15 without the camp btw? Cause I made myself a "rule" that most of them WITH the camp cannot be better than people their age in the camp (so for example Tetsu wasnt called cause every other 2nd year in there was at least just as good).

Kiraku and Aoi being that good out of the camp throws that through the window as they would be approaching almost 20 had they been invited.

Honestly, I don't remember what I assumed for Kiraku, it's been way too long. I think my main reason for giving him 15 was just because I felt a Krauser distribution would fit him well though. That said, he's also a bit of a special case considering that he has resources most of the other MSers don't when it comes to coaching, so while it's in no way decisive evidence, you could at least make an argument that the training he's been receiving isn't too far behind what the camp has to offer. After all his main issue was motivation and not seriously doing everything he could to improve.

Aoi is kind of the same, 14 is probably the upper limit for no camp training and it might be lower. At least before the camp he supposedly wasn't that much weaker than Amane, right? Of course it all depends on how much you think Amane grew throughout the camp, but if we assume that Aoi and Amane started with about the same total, one getting to 16 with camp training and the other to 13 or 14 without seems plausible to me.

I dont know, maybe Im overrating the camp but I really feel that no one outside of it has better stats than around a 10 in total. Sure, Kiraku has facilities and his dad but everyone kept talking so much about the camp it seemed like something out of this world (can Kiraku get chased by eagles?! I DONT THINK SO '-').

In the manga world, why wouldn't Kiraku be called if Yuuta was? If you wanna reason, at best, they were around the same level just before being called to the camp (of course, we know it was because no one cares about Midoriyama and Yuuta is a Fuji, but still).

Aoi wasn't that much behind David, yeah, but still a bit behind (if you want to, see it as a single stat point) I dont think the camp would only be a 2 point difference in total between them, no ^^'

Yeah, I think you are overrating it. If we calculate backwards, Atobe grew 5 points between the team shuffle and the end of the camp and that time period was about twice the amount of time as between the MSers arriving and the team shuffle. Assuming he grew at about the same rate both pre and post team shuffle, Atobe had a 16 when entering the camp and grew 7.5 points total, but he's also the one who reportedly grew the most out of everyone (in the official camp at least), so we can assume a smaller difference between start and finish for everyone else.

Going by an estimate of 16 for Atobe, we can assume that the other top players were also in that range at the beginning, probably somewhere between 15 (like Shiraishi) and 17 (like Tezuka). Even if we go down a few more tiers this way, I can easily imagine that even the worse MSers entered the camp with 11-13 points.

There is no in-manga justification to be frank, so asking about it is kinda pointless. Kiraku won at the nationals whereas Yuta lost in Tokyo. There's a number of players that should've made the camp over who's actually there.

8 points is massive though. Most people growing half of that sounds less farfetched than them growing just a quarter of that.

Yeah, the worst (which are still among the best in the country) entered at around 11 or 12, so the people that are outside are around that too at best.

Well we have discussed that in the past and agreed. In any case, though, Yuuta did win 4 games against Ryoma, whereas Kiraku only got 2 IIRC. St. Rudolph were eliminated earlier only because they had a tougher competition than Midoriyama.

In any case this is getting a bit offtopic and circular ( and Im lazy) and they aren't serious profiles anyway, gonna come back with abilities later '-'

Well, if you don't want to keep going, I'll stop after this, but I think of it this way: if Shiraishi entered the camp with 15, then the likes of Yanagi etc. probably also had 15, maybe 14 at worst. So they grew 3-4 points. And I don't know about you, but if someone like Yanagi or Yagyuu or Niou only got 3-4 points, I doubt someone like Amane grew faster. So if Amane is at 16 now, I don't think he entered below 12-13.

As for Kiraku, you're right about the score difference (they won 3 and 1 game(s) vs Ryoma respectively), but Ryoma was also a fair bit better when he played against Kiraku. I'm also assuming a generous growth for Kiraku since he had a good showing in his one Nationals match. If you don't agree with that, that's fine, but that's where I'm coming from in any case.

I'd be interested in hearing some opinions on Fuji. I'm thinking of boosting the Lv of the Critical Winds (and the other parameters alongside it of course) to 5 or maybe even 6. Does anyone think 6 would be too high?

His match against Australia somehow made him look weaker than he looked against Germany, even if he got a new move, so I dont regard him as a level 6 special kind of guy. If you really want to, though, dunno if there has been something like this before, but what if the move starts at level 5 and after 5/6 points its 6 -as he adapts to his opponent.

Was thinking you could give him a formation that would turn his specials into defensive counters but I dont know how it would look on paper nor how viable would that be.

You mean like the move would normally be, say, Hollyhock Blizzard, but when the Formation is active it'd turn into Kirin?

Yeah, or the other way around. It would decrease/increase the level of the Special and the stat buff but it'd do slightly different stuff (like negating specials or being a non-negatable special itself).

You find it necessary to increase the levels considering Prodigy is still a thing (just now I re-checked his profile and saw that Auto)?

No, that doesn't have anything to do with it. But since the Australia match I've felt that while the Winds don't look as flashy as his later counters, they might be meant to be pro level or close to it. For instance, it's true that it took way too long for him to adjust to Tachyon, but I think we should assume that he can simply return serves of that speed with a high-speed shot from now on without having to go through the whole procedure again.

Uhm, not really, he doesn't say anything about serves but that one in particular. Both Tachyon and Mach are fast speed serves, sure, but in PoT world I don't think that, even if they were the same speed, the bounce/spin/anything would be the same too.

5th and 6th counter left a bigger impression than the winds, yeah, but he dropped them so I think we should assume they are around the same level anyway.

I don't think that makes sense when we're talking about progression though. You can't give Fuji a hundred points each match to figure out his opponent's serve.

Not a hundred but I feel he would need a couple, at least currently :sweatdrop

Thats why I said the level could be raised after some points (or maybe you can make the move more effective the more times the opponent uses the same special?).

Edit: sry if Im bombarding you with shitty complex ideas btw '-''''
