Honestly, money doesn't really help you much. FGO is pretty much all luck and time (a shitload of time). The gatcha rates are so low that outside of the guaranteed gatcha's I never spend anything. It's not worth it.
I'd say time is the main currency this game consumes. You can kiss that goodbye but your wallet can survive relatively unscathed.
Arguably @Copy Panda , I disagree on the time aspect.
Sure at the start of the game you are going to get tons of energy from lv up, but, after that, FGO is a pretty low maintance game.
Log in at the start of your day, do just 3 missions to farm gold/exp, and you are fine until the end of the day.
Compare this to Fire Emblem heroes where you need to do 10 training towers or Epic seven where you ned to do a LOT of shit and your energy continually regenarates.
Sure, you are going to ahve some periods where you are going to farm events like hell, but, by the time you reach that point, either you will love the game and this will not be a chore, or you will have already dropped it.
FGO being that chill in energy use is one of its biggest hook ups to me

Also in case you like holding your summoning resources for units you like, we have this thing called
"Clarivoynce EX"
Where we are 2 years behind Japan´s server, so we know which units are comming and when, so if there is someone you really like, you will be able to hold for it even as a F2P
I mean, I don't disagree but when your starting out it's a bit of a different experience that where we're at. The story alone is realistically like 30-40 hours right? Then there are the ascention materials and exp cards you need to level your units. Which for us is easy because we can just farm out the hardest event maps. But when your just starting out and can't do that it takes a while.
Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to scare Panda away from the game but I do feel like I should throw fair warning out there. FGO is super fun but it will eat up multiple days of your life.
That's because FGO is still a gatcha game and not a particualrly forgiving one. There are no step up banners and no pity banners.
Lets say you want a particular character, which everybody does because the story does a great job selling you on them. The odds of pulling any 5 star character in this game are 1%. So the odds of pulling a particular 5 star character are like .08%. If you play with the attitude "I'll be happy if I get what I want but if I don't that's ok" then you'll be fine. If your like "I NEED this particular character" and buy extra pulls until you get him or her you'll fall into a money sinkhole that will go as deep as you let it take you.
When I said money doesn't help much that's what I mean. Even if a character is on rate-up there is no guarantee you will pull them. You can spend hundreds of dollars and still get nothing. And people do that. So when people tell horror stories of how much they've spent on this game. That's what they're talking about.
There are three "Rins". Only one of which is currently out. There is Ishtar (my favorite) , Ereshkigal (due out next December), and Ishtar Rider (due out this summer as a free event servant.) There is actually a story reason why they look exactly like Rin too. It's great.
So my overall thoughts on the servants I have pulled:
Gorgon:
I find her kit a bit weird to use, since most of her skills have either a short duration or have 2 effects that don´t necessarily mix.
She shines on one ocasion: Berserk Waves.
There is no unit better than her on dealing with multiple berserks, since she has a natural resistance to them and a buster AoE NP that can be enchanced by Merlin.
Even with the so called Hot Sands CE I still find her a bit underwhelming as a main damage Dealer.
I´d say 5/10 overall, but definiteally a 10/10 against berserk waves
Lobo:
THE Ruler killer. Too sad he is made of cardboard.
Lobo is a high damage burst damage unit that will make quick work of any Ruler boss that you face, if you can make him stay alive.
Having little HP and a short def buff, Lobo is not made to last long.
So don´t put him on your frontline if you have 2 waves before the boss.
His enemy remove buff is great specially if consider Jeanne (one of the 2 ruler servants in the game so far) has a invencible buff on her NP, and I have found him to be a blessing in longer fights against Spriggans (AKA "I will crit the class advantage out of you)
While he has the typical problem of Low Star Absortion prob of Avengers + Surviability, these are easily solved by any common suport found in your friend list with 2030s, and a CE that increases his Star Weight. AKA his problems are easier to deal than Gorgon´s

Man where does the hate for this guy comes from?
Sure hes not amazing in any capability, but neither does he perform bad at all.
His quick chain grabs easily 40 stars, tho hardly 50. But then again, a compententaly-built team won´t need 50.
The fact that he can make his OWN Star Weight lower makes him FANTASTIC to pair with both of the avengers above, and he has some kickass animations. I´d say that Kiritsugu is worse than him and yet people don´t shit on him. He definatelly needs his STR Quest that will come in the future, tho, if you want to deal damage with him. Which you shouldn´t because he is a assasin and not every enemy in the game is female, Jack...
6/10 current
7/10 after STR
9/10 when paired with an Avenger (if you don´t have Jack)
Personally I've been somewhat lucky with pulling both Mysterious Heroine X Alter and Okita, though both took a few pulls. Now only two Artorias are missing : D It's kept my motivation relatively high, but the Guda rerun is rather meh overall (if you ignore the amazing little Nobus). I think GudaGuda 2 will be better though, and not too long after that we will get the CCC collab, which should be fantastic
For now just grinding the event and trying to get all the mats I need, and finally giving Nobunaga that last ascension, bc I didn't manage to do that last time
I'm busy enough that I'm barely able to play right now, will be until the Wednesday of next week. Which hurts because I loved GudaGuda. I haven't even cleared Shinjuku yet.

Ayyyye I just finished it today too, I enjoyed it as well with Jalter and Salter being the big highlights. It's what made me roll back when Salter had the banner, gladly I did get her haha.
