It was a painful match for a France supporter.
Glad about the victory, glad that we eliminated a team that played ugly football.
I respect defensive football very much (I played wing back as a teen/young adult). Paraguay play good defensive football, but they add a touch of trickery and bad sporting behaviours that makes it unpleasant. So good riddance.

Now it’s the quarter final against Morocco, a very difficult opponent. It should be quite a pleasant match to spectate. Two good attacking squads.
But I must say the incoming Brasil vs Norway excites me a lot more.

Yeah I would have been far less diplomatic if we had lost this game, for sure.
But Mbappe summed it up well in his post-match interview in french. He said that if Paraguay were expecting France players to come play in tuxedo they got it wrong.
I like this guy. He didn’t deny Paraguay’s football, did not belittle them at all, on the contrary, simply said that France could play the same football as them, but better.
The referee was objectively pisspoor this game. I still don’t understand how we come out of this one with three yellow cards while Paraguay got none whatsoever.
But this painful match is behind us.
I must say I’m not particularly confident against Morocco. Norway should have been the real test in the group stage but it wasn't due to the huge turnover their coach did. So thus far we have yet to face a truly strong opponent with a similar playstyle to ours. Morocco is where it really begins for France.

A lot of River fans were happy because Galarza was playing well in this wc and could likely be sold by a decent amount of cash (very few like the donkey lol). That ship may have sailed already...
