People who have followed this team has been saying none of our keeper options are good. Turner had a good cycle in 22 as a shot-stopper but fell off hard. Freese is good at stopping pens but very rarely makes the kind of world-class saves needed. He looked shaky at times this WC but wasn't really tested. Somehow we knew this deficiency could cost us but it usually didn't, and for whatever reason it happened today after halftime and it just neutered what looked like good changes then.

You also got a big clown called Ryan Gracia who keep jinxing your team. He jinxed all the teams he supported, one by one. even i as a total outsider felt the negative energy everytime i read his posts and i was very sure USA will lose today terribly, It surpassed my expectations.

The vibe felt off ever since the Balogun thing. Even if I felt like I could justify it independent of "corruption" or whatever people want to say. Of course this doesn't actually mean shit because our players just didn't come to play. I would not have guessed that being the case.

Didn't really finish my thought but - the point is I felt like we were fucked either way. If we performed up to our standard this tournament and beat a very shaky Belgian team then it's treated like an international scandal most likely, even though this team doesn't deserve to be punished for the sake of whatever ire people have against Trump. So even though I saw people saying the best outcome was them losing and I didn't want to feel that way myself, it was a possibility anyway, I just don't know why it took the form that it did. Very deflating.

Holy shit. I wasn’t paying attention to the game because I was at work (that, and I wasn’t even interested in the match anyways. I have other teams rooting for), I didn’t realize Belgium didn’t even play their starters for this game until the 2nd half .

It was a tactical decision. They played more athletic/younger players in an attempt trigger our press and play the longball to counter it. Also Lukebakio specifically had success against us in a friendly in March.

It didn't really work, all things considered, but it didn't need to since our back line played like shit and our goalie is brain-damaged.
