Regardless of the refs being questionable and kind of impartial when it comes to foul judgement, Egypt shouldnt have lost their nerve so much, it cost them the match. Argies are not going to win this WC anyway, unless the semifinalists make a terrible game against them.

I dont think Spain will survive the semis either, they have gone a little too far for their current play state already.

Right, so when an incident happens early in the play that results in a goal, it should be reviewed and the goal disallowed.

That's the precedent, so why wasn't Argentina's 3rd goal disallowed when multiple Egyptian players were taken out?

I think the goal from Egypt was correctly disallowed, its clear foul on Martinez there, the problem is the overall ref work has been atrociously permissive this WC but this makes two matches in which Argentina rivals are treated more strict, while they keep the usual soft-hand treatment.

I repeat Egypt deserved to lose regardless, but I understand their discomfort with the ref decision-making process. If they are going to apply soft hand treatment thats fine I guess, but apply it for everyone.

I don't think that's how VAR should have been used even if it was a foul. They scored immediately after, same player, and then completely collapsed defensively and the coach started crying racism. Was an embarrassing shitshow.

I agree but they cancelled Egypts goal and used VAR so to apply justice you apply the same treatment and review var the same way.

What the coach did wasn’t embarrassing for sure given the praise he gets everywhere.

Egypt lost the lead and lost, no excuse could change that but denying them the injustice is doing them wrong. There is a guy who literally slapped a guy in Egypt team but that wasn’t even mentioned. A legit red card.

The VAR was used as intended. It doesn't matter if the foul was 2 seconds ago or 3 minutes as long as it's the same play.

They didn't think it was a foul on Salah (correctly) so they didn't call the ref.

I guarantee you if Argentine didnt score there, the ref would add 20 min extra time to give them the maximum chance to win.

There was a clear unfairness in this match, idk why but my guess is the betting odds, Imagine if Argentina lost there, Betting companies would take a huge loss.
