Discussion Fight hunger with a "click"

The webpage is just asking you the meaning of some english words, from four others you have to find the correct one. For every correct one the ones that made this site will be able to donate 20 grains of rice through the United Nations to help end world hunger. For every 100 grains you secure on meal for someone. Spread the word, join the club, grab a dictionary.... help us help people it's for a good cause.

I was at first a bit sceptical but then i read the FAQ and it answered my main question.

Who pays for the donated rice?
The rice is paid for by the advertisers whose names you see on the bottom of your vocabulary screen. This is regular advertising for these companies, but it is also something more. Through their advertising at FreeRice, these companies support both learning (free vocabulary for everyone) and reducing hunger (free rice for the hungry). We commend these companies for their participation at FreeRice.

As for the game my best level was 33 without a dictionary. I'll do it again with a dictionary later.

^Okay, now I feel utterly dreadful. All I could reach was level 30 without a dictionary XD I got to gain at least 1800+ or so, before the site gave me an error >.> I think it's gotten sort of overloaded?

Your actually making me feel guilty for not concentrating in English class >_>;. Anyway I tried it again with a dictionary but it got too tiring and that was when i realized there were online dictionaries .

This IS really addictive like someone said! My best level so far is 42, not using a dictionary... it helps to recognize prefixes, that's what helps me But this is a great tool I think, how hard is it to click and get a word right and know you're helping someone out there?! Thanks for this post!

First heard about this sometime last month. And I see now that they've changed the donation amount from 10 per word to 20.
After 15 minutes, best level was 43 and I used a dictionary for one word at level 40 or 41.

I guess it keeps going, I got to 1600 grain of rice, then I stopped (maybe I'll play some other time)....level 39 w/o dictionary...I definitely need to read more....this makes me feel dumb

I've have to agree, this is a brilliant idea. I've already learned a few words that i've never seen. Still havent used a dictionary, although i might if i get hit with heaps of words i've never heard of, which for mine seems around level 40.

A humorous one in gaming terms I found was this:

nub means:
1. gist
2. divining rod
3. prejudice
4. self-contemplation

So far i've managed to acheive around 3500 grains, or 35 full meals
