I don't think the chapter was bad at all. In fact i liked it even if some if it was shounen cliche. It reminds me of Food wars fairy tail and some other manga.

I'm looking forward to reading more!

You beat me to making a thread :XD

Read it earlier. Seems pretty interesting. Table Tennis is an unusual topic of Sports manga as far as I'm aware, but I'm more than willing to read more.

Quite a good Manga I will say.

The best thing I like that is that Hero starts from the scratch.Dan shows how you can rise from obscurity.

Marin seems to remind me of Noelle for some reasons.

But anyway I liked the first chapter.I will follow it.

Well, a lot of the times those things became cliches precisely because they worked well in the past. As long as they are well-executed, it can still be an enjoyable experience. Or did you mean it more in the sense that you're usually not into shounen stuff?

How do you feel this first chapter compares to the first chapter of Robot x Laserbeam, considering that was also a fairly recent sports addition to the Jump line-up?

The best thing I like that is that Hero starts from the scratch.
I take it you mean in the sense that he's in an unfamiliar environment, rather than that he has to start from scratch where table tennis is concerned? Or do you think what we've seen in chapter 1 kind of overstates Dan's true abilities and he'll struggle even with worse opponents once he goes to the academy? Basically, how skilled do you think Dan really is compared to the rest of the competition?

I don't get as much of an initial hit from this as I did RXL, but despite it having way too many Sports Shounen Troupes jammed into 1 chapter, all at once, I'll reserve judgement until later. I am certainly willing to give it a chance.

Well I meant Dan is starting from level 0 kind of like Naruto. He will struggle and ultimately reach his dream.I like this genre.

Not really. He's clearly had years of training. This story commences after his childhood past of teasing and bellittlement. I think it's going to be a bit like Black Clover with a low level, unknown protagonist coming onto the scene and quickly rise in the ranks, proving his worth.

Well what I meant by level 0 is

No one really knows him apart from him being the grandson of a legend. He has no previous reputation from the start in the Tennis circle.I bet people may underestimate him at the beginning .Natsu was already popular as "Salamander" in Ft since the start. This is unlike Natsu.

I think Dan may be kinda like Echizen Ryoma in prince of tennis which has a private world class trainer lol.

I like this chapter and hope it's not the only peak of this series. I also really don't want other people to know his relatives with his grandpa so soon.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to his match against Haou or Ripping King.

Oops, is it wrong series? lolll.

That's fair. Personally, I think what's going to make or break the story is how Ono handles the whole confidence theme. I almost wish Dan started out a little less confident in his skills, actually. It's fine for him to be strong, but unless the table tennis aspect is just more of a backdrop, we will see his developments the most when he's playing. So I feel this way of, presumably, having his confidence in table tennis spill into other areas of his life will be more difficult to show properly.

I also really don't want other people to know his relatives with his grandpa so soon.
Well, right now only Mikan and Matsuzaki know and Dan already more or less asked them to keep quiet about it. I'd guess they'll respect that for now.

That said, I think it might work well with the theme if it becomes public knowledge pretty early on since it'll put a lot more external pressure on Dan.

I really liked the first chapter, but it remains to be seen whether or not it will turn shit or not. It could go either way.
But artwork is really good, so I hope the story and cast will be too.

I do like the artwork of this series. Still nothing to go on yet but there aren't many reasons to drop it.

The chapter was decent in my opinion, but nothing special. We got a bit of world building and an idea of what some of the future milestones are. Dan's gonna enter Setagaya's school first, then probably take on the guys from the national training center and the endgame is going to be defeating Germany and China. Wonder if we're going to be focusing more on team or individual competitions here.

I'm also curious how the match against Atsushi's going to go, any predictions? Dan already beat Mikan with the awful rubber last chapter and he got a good one now, so his firepower should have increased. On the other hand we've got a guy who plays at the national level though.

I like this chapter. It's a good build. But...with more than 20 pages and Dan only enter the club with the shouting to destroy the above...it's good but the content is only that. It's for the building but it seem to be like that the author use too much pages for the build.

Anyway, it still be good and I like the artwork.
