According to biologists, the big brain nature of human development was driven by pack based social interactions. Social hierarchies in wolf packs, dolphin pods and troops of chimpanzees are the format which fueled the context based expansion of the human brain.

Based on this past precedent, we might anticipate future evolution by identifying similar trends.

One trait observable in comparing boomers to millennials is the capacity of the elderly to be susceptible to nigerian prince schemes which millennials would avoid. Within the span of a generation, people have been bombarded by a significantly larger stream of commercials and advertisements. Which could have dulled their sensitivity to suggestion. Being bombarded by commercials, ads and data could also have sharpened critical thinking skills more than we acknowledge.

Processing greater volumes of data could represent an evolutionary trigger similar to social pack hierarchies which are credited with incentivizing greater contextual development of the mind.

Some biologists contend the human brain is losing average mass over time, which trends with reduced intelligence. But this is a gross oversimplification at best. It is more accurate to say that the athletic portion of the brain associated with physical feats and muscle memory is losing mass as people become more prone to sedentary lifestyles. While the contextual and data processing aspects of the brain may be increasing in size and capability.

Other trends worth considering are climate change, high gas prices, food shortages, inflation and other common difficulties of 2022.

These negative trends make survival more difficult. Which might further incentivize expansion of human intelligence.

Certain human tendencies might also be punished by whichever human traits are most prone to substance / fentanyl abuse as well as other high risk lifestyles.

I am here to contend that contrary to popular belief, we are becoming more intelligent over time as a species.

And that modern difficulties like climate change and high gas prices could incentivize human intelligence to evolve even further.
