i think its meaning is just the opposite of holding back

bear down;

2. To apply maximum effort and concentration

I did all Iroi has done so far has talked a big game, but had to have his ass saved not only by Shin but Gensai aswell. Iroi to me has been unimpressive so far. Hopefully when gets a 1 on 1 fight he change my mind about him.

Anyone expecting Iori to destroy such high level opponenets so quickly is silly. He's always been a character that fights on two levels, casual and then serious. Also, the only one that can 1HKO an advisor will be Gama who will be by far the strongest of the Ogame school by the time they reach the castle.
