I got to thinking about Gecko Moria today.(I’ve been rewatching old arcs, just finished Thriller Bark.) Whenever Moria pulls shadows into himself he gets more and more disfigured. Kuma said, and I’m paraphrasing here, “Moria relies too much on others shadows, the don’t make him any stronger” and there have been comments, I think Jimbe, saying that his refusal to train has made him much weaker, and having others, his shadow or zombies, fight his battles for him has made him weak in 1 v 1 fight. I think if he were to expel every shadow from his body, other than his own, he would end up looking more or less normal. Still have the horns and teeth of course (Oda drew him as a child with them, but I don’t think he would be bloated and cartoonish. I think there are a number of shadows that he is able to keep in his body even if he is asleep or knocked unconscious. I think he would end up a very tall muscular awesome lookin dude, with waaay more dexterity and agility than his huge body-state. I hope Oda was alluding to that when the characters mentioned the shadows being a crutch. It would be pretty badass to see him come “out of the cold” and be stronger after getting over his “shadow addiction”. There is a bit of him younger, and more normal looking, at the Roger execution.
