Wow... never thought I'd say this about OP Canon episodes, BUT WTF DID I JUST WATCH ?!

What the heck was up with the music? OUT OF PLACE AND SO QUIET CAPS !!
Luffy competing with Whitebeard? That was THE MOST out of sync conversation I EVER saw. Wtf was WB spinning his weapon for? Dude is senile to the max. It took him like a minute to have flashbacks of the hat. DERP DERP

Ugh.... I HOPE next week will be better.

I feel ya... I was like, what's with the bigger than normal flashbacks, out of place music and... Luffy looking for Ace? I mean, what the fuck...

It would've been so much more better if they hadn't done the big ass flashback and the "Where's ace" thing.

Now, when Luffy met WB and he was like: Ima be the Pirate King and Everyone was like: 0_0 and the I'm doing what I want O:O and then everyone: he's competing with WB O_O

That I loved.

This episode was adapted from one of those chapters that was kinda slow in the beginning but progressed to badassness around the end.

The flashback as to how Luffy and co. arrived to Impel Down took up a lot of time, which is understandable, as they did not get to the hows and during the manga. Luffy meeting up with Whitebeard in the last three or four minutes made up for the lack of progress though.

It was awesome to see Luffy protecting Whitebeard from Crocodile (even if Whitebeard didn't clearly need protection). Whitebeard telling Luffy to be scared of the war and that he'll die quickly, but Luffy asserting that he will not only survive but he will become the Pirate King. Iva and Buggy were like, O_O. All of the pirates and marines on the battlefield are scared/surprised at the same time.

So yeah, it's one of those episodes that only really progressed at around the end.

A lot of flashback, yes, but if the writers keep insisting on using one chapter of content per 20 minutes of episode, it was necessary.

hmmm good episodes...but they didn't have to milk it so much with the flashbacks.....lol Luffy on pair with Whitebeard was fun....hope they pick up the pace a bit more on the next episode...the music was a little off

As much as the slow pacing is grating on my nerves, I've actually started to get used to it, so it's not as bad now. The only thing that keeps be from headdesking every time is the fact that I can sympathize with their need to not overtake the manga. I mean, unlike Bleach of Naruto, One Piece doesn't have any really long filler arcs. (Naruto = Filler, the series >_>) But the ending was awesome, so I forgive them.

Best scene: Luffy blocking and countering Croco-boy's attack on WB. Estimated time: less then 0:30 seconds. Yep, that was the greatest part of this week's episode imo. The rest was utter crap. I'm sorry but Toei have officially fk'd the OP anime..to the point of no return. I sure hope Toei aren't contracted to animate "OP New World".

That "where's Ace, I can't see him" scene was soooooo cheesy. Oh well. Not long to go...only a couple of more weeks left of this pain...T_T

I wonder if there's a brave japanese who will sue Toei for killing our eyes and ears with such crap.
Besides the scene when Luffy stopped Crocodile, this episode was crap, and it was more crap when WB was spinning his weapon ? Why add something that wasn't necessary and wasn't in the manga and make the poor WB look like a fool huh ?

Yeah, he should have started laughing right away. It would make the scene like 1000 times better.

Way to stretch the plot. Don't they realize they are damaging the content with that crap? An episode can be stretched in more than one way. Show us some fighting ffs. Good one, not the crap that's easy to animate.

I noticed that Ivankov's voice sounded different, so I went to the OP wiki...and apparently Imamura (Ivan's old VA) was arrested for showing a pic of his tattoo on his blog or something...is that true?

People should stop whining about the anime and just accept its never going to be amazing, and be happy for moments that are animated well. its clear that they can't just animate the whole filler content with just fighting because of budget and deadlines.

It was blatent that they were going to take advantage of the tidal wave scene for filler as they did with the journey to HQ. Didn't think there was anything wrong with the scene when luffy was looking for ace. And Whitebeard swinging his weapon around was good aswell. LOL some of you are being over harsh.

Although, judging from the preview, we'll see some nice filler fighting next episode.

I just hope they don't fuck up the Luffy vs giant part. Too long for example. That giant is supposed to go down fast for a proper effect to happen.

@ Super Shutter : All the previous arcs (excluding ID) were AMAZING. So it's safe to say that this anime IS amazing and that's why most people are so upset. This arc has been completely effed up and this is the most epic arc in the manga thus far.

Oda needs to do 5 chapters in one with ubber small panels, and lots and lots of text, without any bit of fight... (like some chapters of Mahou Sensei Negima) so the anime can pick up the pace!

i dont understand why people are so upset. lets not forget there were tons of double spread for this arc and it was just one big action scene from start 2 finish. it would be hard for the animators to make a 23 minute episode out of is essentially 8 to 9 pages of material.

I think most people complaining are manga readers who have been waiting eagerly for this arc to be animated. It was probably the most epic arc in OP and we all expected something big from Toei. Instead we get what we have now and it's definitely NOT what I was expecting.

I didn't think this arc was rated so high in the manga. Many thought the pace was too quick and it just seemed like big events 1 after each other each chapter and not a lot of action from the captains and shikubkia. Im not taking anything away from oda as it was extremely difficult to carry out something like this at a bearable pace and still create entertainment, like how drawn out the battles in bleach were, cuz oda only wanted the series to last 5 years i don't think he could have spent ages on this arc.

Though this arc has barely started IMO so much epicness comming up

I think this arc and the whole saga till the time skip would be more suited for an OVA, I mean, ten 50 mins Ova's would get the job done, and nicely done!
I wouldn't mind to wait 3 years til the Ova's are done since we would be getting almoast Movie 10 quality, and awesome pace....

To bad toei does not think like I do!
